This work details an integrative mechanical design process for combustion chambers. A major challenge in the development process of modem gas turbine combustors is to achieve low NO,, emissions whilst ensuring the stability of the combustion process at all phases of the guaranteed operation regimes. The burner hardware plays a crucial role in determining emissions and maintaining a suitable aero- and thermo-acoustic performance of the combustion process. In addition, the burner hardware must be manufacturable at a reasonable cost. Efficient burner development requires a design process able to judge this behaviour at an early phase. This process must predict the combustor behaviour, the thermoacoustic mechanisms, the mechanical integrity as well as the life cycle of the burner. Based on the Alstom SEV (Sequential EnVironmental) burner for the reheat combustor of the GT24 gas turbine, this paper describes an exemplary process for the mechanical design, mechanical integrity, cooling and manufacturing. The acoustic aspects and the successful engine validation are addressed in separate papers. The improved GT24 SEV burner has been developed with the following key features: a) A Straight Mixing Zone aerodynamic design (SMZ) resulting in increased velocity and improved reactant premixing b) Multi-layered and braze constructed Front Panel design integrating combined and novel cooling and high frequency damping features c) Optimised alloy selection for extended lifetime and improved manufacturability In addition to the mechanical design and manufacturing process further details will be provided on aspects of cooling and mechanical integrity.

In this paper we apply a popular flocking control algorithm to a heterogeneous swarm of robots. The flocking controller contains separation, cohesion and velocity matching terms and has been shown to converge properly in the case of homogeneous swarms. The swarm models a military convoy unit with supply vehicles, defenders, and attackers. Each class of vehicle possesses different maneuvering capabilities and different objectives. In each case we modify the controller accordingly and analyze the emergent behavior of the swarm.

This paper discusses the application of the N-Streaming concept developed at Global Nuclear Fuel for the design of a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) fuel cycle. The paper presents the N-Streaming concept and discusses the application of N-Streaming to the recent fuel cycle for Peach Bottom Unit 2 Cycle 17. It is demonstrated that the application of N-Streaming provides extra design freedom to optimize design margins allowing better operational flexibility while reducing the fuel cycle cost.

In this paper, a completely unique human detection approach exploitation ironed 2-D bar graph, for automatic human detection in color image(s). During this approach, an eye fixed detector is employed to refine the skin model for a selected person. The planned approach reduces process prices as no coaching is needed, and it improves the accuracy of human detection despite wide variation in quality and illumination. This can be the primary technique to use fusion strategy for this purpose. First, associate degree approach is adopted to get the face(s) in a very given image. Second, a dynamic technique is used to calculate the skin threshold value(s) on the detected face(s) region. Third, the 2-D bar graph with ironed densities is introduced to represent the skin and Non-skin distributions, severally. Finally, we tend to ready to get the human detection results.

In this paper, we focus on a crank-line antenna located in free space, avoiding use of a dielectric substrate. The antenna is backed by a perfectly conducting plane (ground plane). The current distribution on the crank-line antenna is obtained using the method of moments, and the radiation characteristics are investigated. The effect of the antenna height above the ground plane on the radiation characteristics is also investigated. It is found that gain enhancement is realised by gradually increasing the antenna height above the ground plane. The comparison of gains between two cases, with and without a gradual increase in the antenna height, is presented.

Mobile Social Networks (MSN), as an emerging social networking platform, facilitates social interaction and information sharing among users in the proximity. Spam filtering protocols are extremely important to reduce communication and storage overhead when many spam packets without specific destinations are diffused in MSNs. In this paper, we propose an effective social based updatable filtering protocol (SAFE) with privacy preservation in MSNs. Specifically, we firstly construct a filter Hash tree based on the properties of Merkle tree. Then, we exploit social relationships, and select those users with more than a specific number of common attributes with the filter creator. The selected users are able to store filters in order to block spams or relay regular packets. Furthermore, we develop a cryptographic filtering scheme without disclosing the creator's private information or interests. In addition, we propose a filter update mechanism to allow users to update their distributed filters in time. The security analysis demonstrates that the SAFE can protect user's private information from filter's disclosure to other users and resist filter forgery attack. Through extensive trace-driven simulations, we show that the SAFE is effective and efficient to filter spam packets in terms of delivery ratio, average delay, and communication overhead.
