Plant-microbe joint interactions have a great potential to deal with the total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) during the effective remediation process. After four months plant cultivation, significant decreases of TPH concentration were observed in the rhizospheres of Scorzonera mongolica Maxim., Atriplex centralasiatica, and Limonium bicolor. Larger shoot and root biomass stimulated microbial biodegradation of TPH efficiently, higher average well color development (AWCD) was observed in the rhizosphere of these three plants compared with the non-rhizosphere soil, which was strongly associated with the higher TPH degradation rate. The data gathered from this study provides important information for utilization of the local plants for plant-microbe joint remediation of the crude oil contaminated soil. We report on the development of a 10-kV SiC MOSFET-based switching module, which can be easily scaled-up because of the principle of a serial connection of the SiC MOSFETs. In detail, the switching module consists of two circuit boards, each one featuring five Wolfspeed 1200-V C2M0080120D SiC MOSFETs, that are getting stacked in order to minimize the area of the current loop between high voltage and ground connector and as a result the inductance of the structure. The gate control of each SiC MOSFET is connected to a separate high-speed gate driver circuit, which is being triggered optically. The DC voltage supply of the components of each of the gate driver circuit is battery powered. As an overvoltage protection for the SiC MOSFETs and the optical receivers, the switching module uses transient voltage suppression (TVS) diodes. The turn-on time was experimentally determined to t on = 21 ns at a switching voltage of V SW = 10 kV and an average drain current of I D = 38.5 A. A first successful test in burst-mode with a burst of 10 cycles at a pulse repetition frequency of f rep = 5 MHz was carried out. Planned usage of gate-boosting techniques for a further speeding-up of the turn-on behavior will be discussed.

we report performance characteristics of borehole seismometers installed in the C0002G observatory located at the Nankai Trough seismogenic zone, Japan. We conducted initial data processing including 1) Power spectral density analysis calculated from short-term records. 2) Running spectrum analysis using continuous long-term data. 3) Estimation of sensor orientation for borehole seismometers. We then compared obtained results with those of DONET KMD16 seafloor seismometer. Results show that borehole sensors have expected performance characteristics estimated by land experiments and catalog specifications. Obtained results can provide useful information for future analysis for weak signals related to earthquake phenomena.

We describe a setup using a surround screen environment (Extended Virtual Environment EVE dome) that we used to explore group interaction in real and virtual space. We have created a prototype framework to explore different modes of group interaction, the position and motion of users in real space are tracked using a vision-based interface that allows the activities of real crowds to be monitored. In the virtual space, we use a simple behavioural animation system that serves as a testbed to generate virtual group and crowd behaviour. Exploring different kinds of dynamic relationships between real and virtual groups gives insight to possible directions of group interaction.

Safe autonomous driving can not be realizable unless with robust environment perception. However, robustness can only be guaranteed if the system functions reliably in all weather conditions with any darkness level, while capturing all corner cases. Perception has heavily relied on cameras for object detection purposes. Due to operating at visible-light frequencies, there exists a plethora of corner cases for a sole camera-based perception system. In this paper, radar data is constructively fused with the RGB images for improving perception performance. Radar data that is in the form of point cloud is pre-processed by domain conversion from a bird-eye-view perspective into an image coordinate system. These alongside with RGB images from the camera are given as inputs to our proposed fusion network, which extracts the features of each sensor independently. These features are then fused to perform a joint detection. The robustness in adverse conditions like fog is validated via synthetically foggified images for different levels of fog densities. A channel attention module is integrated into the fusion network, which helps to prevent the drop in performance up to a fog density of 25. The network is trained and tested on NuScenes [1] dataset. Our proposed fusion network is capable of outperforming the other state-of-the-art radar-camera fusion networks by at least 8%.

Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is an autonomous system of randomly moving nodes where every node acts as host and router to maintain the network functionality. Ad-hoc on demand Distance Vector (AODV) is one of the principal routing protocols which may be get insecure due to malicious nodes present inside the network. Such malicious nodes affect the network performance severely by dropping all the data packets instead of forwarding it to intended receiver. It is called as "Co-Operative Black hole Attack" In this paper one detection and defense mechanism is proposed to eliminate the intruder that carry out black hole attack by taking decision about safe route on basis of Normal V/S Abnormal (anomaly) activity". This anti-prevention system checks route reply against fake reply, named as "Malicious Node Detection System for AODV (MDSAODV)". In this paper we analyze the network performance without, with one and multiple (two) malicious nodes, by varying their location. The network performance for MDSAODV is again analyzed under same scenarios through NS-2 simulation.
