Training-critical military applications generally utilize a distributed simulation approach since they mostly require integration of different simulation components that execute on different hardware platforms. One of the main tasks that a simulation component can be devoted to is the Simulation of Computer Generated Forces (CGF). Simulation management and run control are the two other equally important tasks. Coordination among different infrastructures throughout the same simulation must be maintained for such critical control behaviors. To realize the above tasks, a customized commercial CGF and control architecture can be utilized. There are various commercial frameworks to support services necessary for simulation management. However, the commercial framework based CGF applications are not always able to meet the needs of training-critical military simulations that use platforms and environment models with high-fidelity. The main reason for this can be traced to the fact that the platforms simulated within the CGF applications have simple motion equations with environmental parameters of inadequate fidelity. Therefore, the integration of platforms with motion models of high-fidelity into the CGF applications based on commercial frameworks appears as a crucial problem. In this paper, we present the modeling of surface platforms with complex motion equations and their integration into a commercial framework based CGF application within a high-fidelity virtual military training simulation. This CGF application is controlled by a remote front-end application that contains a graphical user interface and a remote control API inside. We aim to observe the dynamic behaviors of the purposed platforms under the effect of hydrodynamic force-moments and environmental conditions such as waves, current, wind, season, day and night difference that pertaining to the tactical environment. In this study, VR-Forces has been chosen as the commercial framework for building the CGF

We developed a transient photoinduced voltage measuring system and investigated the photoinduced electron transfer in hetero-structured polyimide (PI) LB films. The photoinduced transient voltage depended on PORPI layers (n), indicating that there are two kinds of electron transfer mechanism. For n>3, the maximum value of the induced transient voltage increased as n increased. We estimated that they were transported in PORPI films at a distance of 2-4 nm.

Presented in this paper is a method for force analysis of a single-input multiple-output (SIMO) linkage array that is designed for curve morphing applications, such as morphing airfoils. Different from the existing force methods, this method is developed to determine the force of a single actuator at the front that is needed to resist the forces on each loop for the entire multiloop linkage system. The proposed method is based on a full force model of a single loop four-bar linkage. When this model is applied to a multiloop system, two force sources are considered for each loop, namely the external point force on the coupler and the internal transition torque from the proceeding loop. As a result, a recursive method is proposed to compute the force from the last loop through intermediate loops to the first loop. The force vector of the first loop represents the required force of the single actuator needed to counteract the forces experienced by all the coupler forces. A number of simulations are performed and compared with FEM results to prove its effectiveness.

An integrated switched-capacitor (SC) DC-DC converter with a digital interleaving regulation scheme is presented. By interleaving the newly-structured charge pump (CP) cells in multiple phases, the input current ripple and output voltage ripple are reduced significantly. The converter exhibits excellent robustness, even when one of the CP cells fails to operate. A fully digital controller is employed with a hysteretic control algorithm. It features deadbeat system stability and fast transient response. Hspice post-layout simulation shows that, with a 1.5 V input power supply, the SC converter accurately provides an adjustable regulated power output in a range of 1.6 to 2.7 V. The maximum output ripple is 40 mV when a full load of 0.54 W is supplied. Transient response of 1.8 mu s is observed when the load current switches from half- to full-load (from 100 to 200 mA).

In the paper, a model predictive controller (MPC) for the position control for an induction motor drive with an elastic connection is presented. The control methodology enables the drive's safety and physical limitations to be directly incorporated into control synthesis. The effect of the predictive horizon on the drive performance is examined. The theoretical consideration are supported by experimental results.
