Addresses the issue of robustness in artificial neural networks subject to small input perturbations. The robustness in artificial neural networks is studied using the concept of input-output sensitivity analysis applied to an incipient fault detector artificial neural network (IFDANN). The IFDANN was designed to detect winding insulation faults and bearing wear in single-phase squirrel-cage induction motors. Modification of the IFDANN, with the intention of increasing its robustness to input noise during real-time applications, is discussed. Analytical and simulation results are presented to show the significant improvement in robustness of the modified IFDANN for operation with noisy measurements.< >

This paper will offer some suggestions to enhance the use of test results for improved communication and for more effective use of quality tools. A test method system can be roughly divided into four categories: Test development Test documentation Implementation of a new test Test system maintenance By focusing on the maintenance portion, a view of the entire system can be obtained. One useful test method maintenance technique is based on the concept that a test procedure can be viewed as a 'process' and statistical process control techniques about all kinds of special cause variability can be uncovered and the test precision and accuracy can be monitored over time in a simple manner.

The use of technology from the information world in the factory is enabling the development of Industry 4.0. This information and operation technologies convergence can be accomplished by the Fog paradigm, in which distributed devices collaborate among them. This paradigm allows to benefit from the main advantages of Cloud Computing but closer to the factory. Dynamic resource management is a widely spread concept in the Cloud. It selects how applications are deployed based on device resource availability. However, network resources are an important part of these distributed Fog architectures, and have to be considered in Fog resource management algorithms. This paper presents a method to obtain network metrics (latency and packet lose rate) in a distributed architecture focusing on being scalable and lightweight so that they can be used to enable new dynamic resource management algorithms.

Innovations in design represent an essential ingredient to continuously improve performances and reliability of flying products. In particular, the competitiveness of a helicopter is directly related to the efficiency of its rotors, which determine performances, loads and comfort for the entire aircraft and its occupants. The architecture of the rotor and its behavior in flight are important ingredients to be investigated in order to obtain the best compromise in terms of market attractiveness and engineering feasibility;on this subject, one of the key factors in the development and evaluation of a rotor system is the knowledge of in-flight blade motions, which is a task that historically required significant engineering effort in order to get accurate and reliable measurements. Present paper describes the application of a new concept of blade motion measurement system applied to a recently developed main rotor inter-blade architecture, which employs rotational dampers fitted in the tension links of the corresponding blades and connected also to the following blades by means of metallic links. The requirements at the basis of the development of a new measurement system are the need of very compact equipment, compatible with the limited space available on the new hub architecture, together with reliability improvements with respect to existing devices. In general, the importance of such a system is to allow the reconstruction of the rotor motion providing pitch, flap and lag angles time histories of the blade;these data are then used basically to correlate with flight mechanics models, compare with rotor loads scenario and provide on-field measurements helping in the life definition of elastomeric components. In this paper we deal with all the system stages, starting from the early hardware design and development activity, through dedicated software implementation, up to the final phases of system calibration, flight data processing and correlation. As far as hardwar

Modern processors include reservation stations to host instructions that are waiting to be sent to the execution units. Responsive to exception event, instructions in reservation stations that are younger than the instruction executed with exception need to be flushed. In this paper, we propose a mechanism for flushing instructions from reservation stations. The proposed mechanism determines relative age between instructions in reservation stations and instruction executed with exception by comparing reorder buffer indexes assigned to the instructions in reservation stations with the tail pointer of the reorder buffer and with the reorder buffer index of the instruction executed with exception. Instructions younger than the instruction executed with exception are flushed from the reservation stations.

In order to suppress backscattering signal and improve resolution of underwater target, 3 different amplitude modulation methods are studied. They are general amplitude modulation, Fabry-Perot amplitude modulation and dual cosine superimposed amplitude modulation. By comparing the simulation results, the dual cosine superimposed amplitude modulation gets the best effect on suppressing backscattering signal and the peak ratio of target reflection and backscattering signal is almost 1.
