Focal plane arrays built with indium antimonide charge injection device technology are made of a group of two coupled MIS capacitors which collect and store photon generated charge carriers. The selection of a site is accomplished by an X-Y decoding technique. This addressing method allows reading out arrays either sequentially or in group (line or area). For applications at 77 K, SAT has developed bidimensionnal structures (8 multiplied by 8 and 32 multiplied by 32 elements). To extend their application to astronomy, structure parameters have been analysed at very low operating temperature and low backgrounds. For a temperature near 4 K, a saturation time over 10 seconds and a noise of 1400 carriers combined with a large focal plane filling factor ( greater than 80%) and read-out efficiency (25%), these values allow planning the use of this device for efficient imaging.

In this work an optimized fuzzy logic control strategy for Hybrid Electric Vehicle energy management is proposed. The dynamic programming algorithm is applied to obtain the optimal power distribution between engine and motor for a given driving cycle. The dynamic programming solution is also utilized for the design of the fuzzy control strategy and acts as benchmarks for comparison. The proposed strategy is based on the driving conditions;therefore, less relies on the artificial experience. The simulation results indicate that the proposed strategy can further improve the fuel efficiency compared with the conventional control strategy.

Algorithms and software have been developed for continuous vectorcardiographic analysis, and an evaluation was made of the utility of this instrumentation in monitoring the infarct process. 24-hour recordings have been performed in patients admitted early after onset of symptoms. Averaging and analyses of ST vector magnitudes (ST-VM) and QRS vector differences (QRS-VD) were done using a microcomputer (DEC PCV-325). Trend plots, statistical calculations and data storage were performed on a PDP 11/34. Analyses of ST-VM and QRS plots have proved useful in following the course of AMI. Close temporal and quantitative correlations have been found between these parameters and biochemical markers of myocardial injury such as myoglobin and CK release. The tissue at risk of potential infarction may be defined by ST-VM measures. The method has been used to evaluate the infarct-size-limiting properties of drugs such as timolol and streptokinase.

In order to achieve error correction nearer to Shanon's limit, Turbo decoder imparts either Soft Output Viterbi Algorithm (SOVA) or Maximum Posteriori Probability (MAP). The feasibility of most expected path through the Trellis is mainly determined by Max-Log-MAP, a Soft Input Soft Output (SISO) algorithm and gives a better performance over MAX-LOG-MAP (MLMAP) algorithm. To improve the decoder's performance of MLMAP algorithm is usage of appropriate Scaling factor (SF). This enhancement in performance is achieved by reducing Bit Error Rate (BER) can be made real by fixing an random SF for inner decoder s_2 and an refined SF for outer decoder s_1. By comparison among various SF values, an optimized Scaling value is obtained which is so an empirical value. This empirical value usage hikes the performance of MLMAP decoding algorithm in terms of BER. Mathematical relationship between SF and E_b/N_0 is also proposed. The M-MLMAP algorithm showed a gain of 0.75dB over MLMAP algorithm at BER of 2×10~(-5) for Rayleigh fading channel. The improved M-MLMAP algorithm is used for image transmission and retrieval. The proposed algorithm gave superior performance than the preceding algorithms for wireless image transmission.

We present a fully differential linear transimpedance amplifier − (TIA) with a common-base (CB) variable gain circuit as the input stage of a shunt-feedback (SFB) TIA circuit. A quad channel TIA chip is fabricated in 55-nm SiGe BiCMOS technology, and shows measured transimpedance gain of 70 $\text{dB}\Omega,$ 42-dB gain dynamic range, and 80-GHz bandwidth. An intradyne coherent receiver (ICR) with this TIA shows measured result of greater than 75-GHz bandwidth of O/E response. To the authors' knowledge, this is the highest bandwidth among the reported differential TIAs with the variable gain function. An experimental transmission evaluation of 128-GBaud single polarization 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (SP-16QAM) is implemented and an error vector magnitude (EVM) of 13.2% is observed.
