Agriculture stands as India's most crucial industry, despite grappling with a 35% annual loss in crop yield attributed to plant diseases. Traditionally, the detection of plant diseases has been a laborious process, hampered by insufficient laboratory infrastructure and expert knowledge. Plant disease detection methods that are automated provide a useful way to expedite the labor-intensive process of keeping an eye on large-scale agricultural fields and recognizing disease symptoms as soon as they appear on plant leaves. Current developments in deep learning (DL) and computer vision have highlighted the benefits of creating autonomous models for plant disease identification based on visible symptoms on leaves. In this study, we propose a novel method for detecting and classifying plant diseases by combining the Emperor Penguin Optimizer (EPO) with a Region Convolutional Neural Network (RCNN). The suggested methodology uses EPO to improve the discriminative power of features extracted from plant pictures, allowing for a more robust and accurate classification procedure. The Classification Region Convolutional Neural Network (RCNN) is used to leverage spatial correlations within the image, allowing for exact disease region localization. The goal of this integration is to increase the overall efficiency and dependability of plant disease detection systems. The investigations made use of the well-known PlantVillage dataset, which comprises 54,305 data of different plant disease types in 38 categories. Furthermore, an analysis was carried out in comparison with similar advanced investigations. According to the experiment results, RCNN-EPO outperformed in terms of classification accuracy, achieving 94.552%. © 2024 IEEE.

Network control theory (NCT) offers a robust analytical framework for understanding the influence of network topology on dynamic behaviors, enabling researchers to decipher how certain patterns of external control measures can steer system dynamics towards desired states. Distinguished from other structure-function methodologies, NCT's predictive capabilities can be coupled with deploying Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), which have demonstrated exceptional utility in various network-based learning tasks. However, the performance of G NN s heavily relies on the expressiveness of node features, and the lack of node features can greatly degrade their performance. Furthermore, many real-world systems may lack node-level information, posing a challenge for GNNs. To tackle this challenge, we introduce a novel approach, NCT-based Enhanced Feature Augmentation (NCT-EFA), that assimilates average controllability, along with other centrality indices, into the feature augmentation pipeline to enhance GNNs performance. Our evaluation of NCT-EFA, on six benchmark GNN models across two experimental setting-solely employing average controllability and in combination with additional centrality metrics-showcases an improved performance reaching as high as 11 %. Our results demonstrate that incorporating NCT into feature enrichment can substantively extend the applicability and heighten the performance of GNNs in scenarios where node-level information is unavailable. © 2024 IEEE.

Several instances of pneumonia with no clear etiology were recorded in Wuhan,China,on December 31,*** world health organization(WHO)called it COVID-19 that stands for“Coronavirus Disease 2019,”which is the second version of the previously known severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)Coronavirus and identified in short as(SARSCoV-2).There have been regular restrictions to avoid the infection spread in all countries,including Saudi *** prediction of new cases of infections is crucial for authorities to get ready for early handling of the virus ***:Analysis and forecasting of epidemic patterns in new SARSCoV-2 positive patients are presented in this research using metaheuristic optimization and long short-term memory(LSTM).The optimization method employed for optimizing the parameters of LSTM is Al-Biruni Earth Radius(BER)***:To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology,a dataset is collected based on the recorded cases in Saudi Arabia between March 7^(th),2020 and July 13^(th),*** addition,six regression models were included in the conducted experiments to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed *** achieved results show that the proposed approach could reduce the mean square error(MSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and R^(2)by 5.92%,3.66%,and 39.44%,respectively,when compared with the six base *** the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to measure the significance of the proposed ***:The achieved results confirm the effectiveness,superiority,and significance of the proposed approach in predicting the infection cases of COVID-19.

Modeling and Measurement of 3D Solenoid Inductor Based on Through-Silicon Vias

Through-silicon via(TSV) provides vertical interconnectivity among the stacked dies in three-dimensional integrated circuits(3D ICs) and is a promising option to minimize 3D solenoid inductors for on-chip radio-frequency applications. In this paper, a rigorous analytical inductance model of 3D solenoid inductor is proposed based on the concept of loop and partial inductance. And a series of 3D samples are fabricated on 12-in high-resistivity silicon wafer using low-cost standard CMOS-compatible process. The results of the proposed model match very well with those obtained by simulation and measurement. With this model, the inductance can be estimated accurately and efficiently over a wide range of inductor windings, TSV height, space, and pitch.

This paper investigates the formation tracking control of unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) swarm based on prescribed performance control and the event-triggered mechanism. A prescribed performance controller is designed to keep the formation tracking errors in pre-set boundary. Considering the environmental disturbance, the finite-time sliding mode observer is constructed such that the disturbance can be accurately estimated in finite-time. Furthermore, the event-triggered scheme is introduced to reduce the occupancy of the communication network while encountering the effect of communication bandwidth restrictions on the performance of USVs formation control system. The finite-time prescribed performance controller and the event-triggered strategy has been combined, which guarantees that the actuator updated aperiodically only when the pre-designed event-triggered threshold is satisfied. Finally, the derived closed-loop system stability is proved by Lyapunov theory and the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated by the simulation results. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Sport action recognition is an interesting area in computer vision. Categorization of sport actions, representing difficult and complex body postures, is regarded as a fine-grained visual classification problem. The Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have attained enhanced performance over conventional feature descriptors in recognizing various sport activities. In general, though decent improvement has been gained using deep learning for sport action recognition, however, recognition of women’s sport activities is not widely explored. Even, no benchmark dataset depicting women’s sport action with sufficient variations is available yet for study. Hence, fine-grained image classification of diverse sport categories involving female/women athletics requires immediate research attention. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes an image dataset comprising worldwide popular 50 sport categories of women players only. A simple deep learning model is proposed that extracts the high-level deep features using a backbone CNN. Then, these features are pooled from a collection of regular regions representing local discriminative information. The spatial pyramid pooling is applied for mining semantic information and enhancing feature aggregation for classification. The proposed method has achieved satisfactory performance on the Women Sports dataset using four standard backbone CNNs. Moreover, our method has achieved better accuracy on the Yoga-82 pose recognition dataset with a significant margin, e.g., 11.6% gain using ResNet-50 base CNN. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Broadband response metamaterial absorber(MMA)remains a challenge among researchers.A nanostructured new zero-indexed metamaterial(ZIM)absorber is presented in this study,constructed with a hexagonal shape resonator for optical region *** design consists of a resonator and dielectric layers made with tungsten and quartz(Fused).The proposed absorbent exhibits average absorption of more than 0.8972(89.72%)within the visible wavelength of 450–600 nm and nearly perfect absorption of 0.99(99%)at 461.61 *** on computational analysis,the proposed absorber can be characterized as *** developments of ZIM absorbers have demonstrated plasmonic resonance characteristics and a perfect impedance *** incidence obliquity in typically the range of 0◦–90◦both in TE and TM mode with maximum absorbance is more than 0.8972(∼89.72%),and up to 45◦angular stability is suitable for solar cell applications,like exploiting solar *** proposed structure prototype is designed and simulated by studying microwave technology numerical computer simulation(CST)*** finite integration technique(FIT)based simulator CST and finite element method(FEM)based simulator HFSS also helps validate the numerical data of the proposed ZIM *** proposed MMA design is appropriate for substantial absorption,wide-angle stability,absolute invisible layers,magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),color images,and thermal imaging applications.

Enhancing handwritten text feature extraction through key point detection and graph representation

Handwriting typically consists of a wide range of writing forms with substantial differences in the placements and size of those writing shapes. The arrangement, organization, and spatial association of individual letters, words, and phrases on a written page are all examples of handwritten text structure. This study proposed a novel approach in which a handwritten text structure is primarily transformed into a Cartesian XY-coordinate system while maintaining its shape characteristics. The points on the contour of handwritten text with local maximum bending values are considered hypothetical breakdown points called Key Points (KPs). From the skeletal representation of handwriting, this approach first identifies KPs and their coordinate positions. After that, KPs are transformed into a graph-based representation with vertices and edges. With the use of geometric graphs, this representation attempts to capture the spatial and temporal organization of handwriting. Previous techniques focused on statistical methods, which offer fixed-size descriptions;however, graph-based representations are flexible in size and reveal the relationship between text structure. Graph representations enable the incorporation of contextual information by integrating extra features which improve text accuracy and understanding. The proposed approach is tested for writer identification and verification tasks on four benchmark datasets (CERUG-EN, CVL, Firemaker, and IAM) and one custom-built dataset. The findings demonstrated that the proposed approach obtained state-of-the-art accuracies across all the mentioned datasets. Particularly, it achieved the highest accuracy of 99.75% for identification and 99.81% for verification on the Firemaker dataset. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.
