Effect of ion solvation energy on electrohydrodynamic behavior of ionic liquid droplets in electrospray thrusters

The electrospray thruster supplied by ionic liquid is a promising micro-propulsion thruster with small size and precise thrust, which can emit both cations and anions to achieve self-neutralization. In order to further investigate the effect of ion solvation energy on the evaporation of cations and anions from ionic liquid under the action of a uniform electric field, this paper establishes a transient Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) model for free ionic liquid droplets undergoing ion evaporation. The dynamic processes of droplet deformation and ion evaporation are simulated. And the study further focuses on the influence of different ion solvation energies for cations on the droplet morphology and the ion evaporation characteristics at the positively charged end and negatively charged end of the droplet. The results indicate that, when the ion solvation energy for cations is higher than that of anions, it will cause the ion evaporation at the positively charged end of the droplet to lag behind the ion evaporation at the negatively charged end. And the higher the ion solvation energy for the cations, the longer the evaporation lag time at the positively charged end of the droplet, which will lead to a higher peak of surface charge density that can be reached, resulting in a larger evaporation current and sharper droplet stretching deformation. Additionally, the peak surface charge density of the positively charged end of the droplet is linearly related to the ion solvation energy for cations, while the peak surface charge density of the negatively charged end remains almost unchanged and is not significantly affected by the ion solvation energy for cations.

Android platform offers a hybrid concurrency model encompassing multi-threading and asynchronous messaging for concurrent programming. The model is powerful but complex, making it difficult for developers to analyze concurrent behaviors. Data race, a prevalent concurrency defect in real-world Android applications, often results in abnormal executions of mobile applications, even crashes. Despite quite a few studies on detecting data races, it still suffers from high false positives with static analysis techniques and high false negatives with dynamic analysis techniques. To address this issue, this paper presents a predictive approach, PredRacer, for detecting data races in Android applications. It first captures an execution trace of an Android application, and then reorders the events within the trace based on partial orders. Finally, it checks the feasibility of the generated event sequence, which contains a potential data race. PredRacer increases the search scope and reduces false negatives while mitigating false positives by incorporating the happen-before relations specific to the Android concurrency model. The effectiveness of PredRacer is evaluated using the BenchERoid data set. Experimental results demonstrate that PredRacer achieves high precision, recall, and F1 score, outperforming the state-of-the-art techniques. A collection of 20 open-source Android applications is further utilized to assess the effectiveness of PredRacer, and an evaluation of 300 wild apps is conducted to assess its efficiency and scalability. © 2024 IEEE.

Building a domain-specific compiler for emerging processors with a reusable approach

High-performance computing and deep learning domains have been motivating the design of domain-specific *** these processors can provide promising computation capability,they are notorious for exotic programming *** improve programming productivity and fully exploit the performance potential of these processors,domain-specific compilers(DSCs) have been ***,building DSCs for emerging processors requires tremendous engineering efforts because the commonly used compilation stack is difficult to be *** to the advent of multilevel intermediate representation(MLIR),DSC developers can leverage reusable infrastructure to extend their customized functionalities without rebuilding the entire compilation *** this paper,we further demonstrate the effectiveness of MLIR by extending its reusable infrastructure to embrace a heterogeneous many-core processor(Sunway processor).In particular,we design a new Sunway dialect and corresponding backend for the Sunway processor,fully exploiting its architectural advantage and hiding its programming *** show the ease of building a DSC,we leverage the Sunway dialect and existing MLIR dialects to build a stencil compiler for the Sunway *** experimental results show that our stencil compiler,built with a reusable approach,can even perform better than state-of-the-art stencil compilers.

Dislocations and disclinations are fundamental topological defects within crystals,which determine the mechanical properties of metals and *** their important roles in multiple physical mecha-nisms,e.g.,dynamic recovery and grain boundary mediated plasticity,the intrinsic coupling and corre-lation between disclinations and dislocations,and their impacts on the deformation behavior of metallic materials still remain obscure,partially due to the lack of a theoretical tool to capture the rotational na-ture of *** using a Lie-algebra-based theoretical framework,we obtain a general equation to quantify the intrinsic coupling of disclinations and *** quasi in-situ electron backscat-ter diffraction characterizations and disclination/dislocation density analyses in Mg alloys,the generation,coevolution and reactions of disclinations and dislocations during dynamic recovery and superplastic de-formation have been quantitatively *** has been demonstrated that the obtained governing equa-tion can capture multiple physical processes associated with mechanical deformation of metals,e.g.,grain rotation and grain boundary migration,at both room temperature and high *** establishing the disclination-dislocation coupling equation within a Lie algebra description,our work provides new insights for exploring the coevolution and reaction of disclinations/dislocations,with profound implica-tions for elucidating the microstructure-property relationship and underlying deformation mechanisms in metallic materials.

With the trend of intelligence, automobile architecture has become more complex. It is necessary to predict and discover reliability-related issues to reduce the cost of correction in the later period. In AUTOSAR-based automotive architecture design, software and hardware interaction, middleware platform behavior, physical environment, and system usage profile affect the system’s reliability. It is necessary to comprehensively consider these factors to predict the system’s reliability reasonably. However, existing methods often overlook the influence of some factors, especially oversimplifying the control flow of the middleware platform in the system. Resulting in difficulty in effectively modeling the behavior of the AUTOSAR middleware platform in error propagation and its impact on system failure behavior. To analyze the impact of middleware platforms on failure behavior, this paper analyzes the impact of the AutoSAR middleware platform on application software faults based on error propagation methods. Then, expand the AUTOSAR meta-model to model reliability parameters and automatically convert the architecture model into a formal model for reliability prediction. Finally, the effectiveness of considering unreliable platform behavior modeling was verified through a car headlight design case study. © 2024 IEEE.

AUTOSAR enhances the management of complex automotive electrical and electronic architectures by improving the reusability and interchangeability of software modules between OEMs and suppliers. However, existing AUTOSAR modeling tools need help with non-intuitive representation and complicated architectural relationship modeling processes. In this paper, we propose a visual architecture modeling language to represent based on model-driven development of the system architecture design of vehicles. Our approach addresses these issues by implementing multi-dimensional visualization capabilities, incorporating two-dimensional graphical representations and detailed one-dimensional tabular displays. Furthermore, we introduce a practical’AUTOSAR meeting in the middle modeling method, which allows for separate modeling at different levels. This approach effectively harnesses the expertise of detailed bottom-level designers and high-level architects, improving efficiency in automotive system design. A detailed case study and evaluation substantiate the effectiveness of our modeling language in describing the system architecture. © 2024 IEEE.

Tracking the flow of external inputs in a program with taint-analysis techniques can help developers better identify potential security vulnerabilities in the software. However, directly using the static taint analysis provided by Clang Static Analyzer is inefficient for large-scale software due to the huge but redundant ExplodedGraph generated. Therefore, we propose an efficient Whole-Program Critical Paths Search (CAPS) framework. It first performs a set of optimizations to reduce the ExplodedGraph of each function. Then, it constructs a global exploded graph by inserting call edges among the reduced ExplodedGraphs for each function within the Neo4j graph database. Finally, it proposes loop removal and graph segmentation to optimize the search process for critical paths on the global exploded graph. Our experiments on 3 large-scale software show that CAPS can significantly improve the efficiency of critical path search for large-scale software. © 2023 Knowledge Systems Institute Graduate School. In the process of developing oil and gas resources in the Arctic,the impact of icebergs can pose a considerable threat to the structural safety of semi-submersible mooring platforms in ice *** the basis of the arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian(ALE)algorithm,a numerical model for the interaction between an iceberg and a semi-submersible mooring platform is built in this ***,a mooring system with a link element is designed and *** ice material model for the target iceberg is built and validated.A numerical model for the interaction between an iceberg and a semi-submersible mooring platform is then built.A parametric study(cable angle,tension angle and number of cables)is carried out to study the performance of the mooring *** collision process between the semi-submersible mooring platform and the iceberg in the polar marine environment can be predicted by the present numerical model,and then the optimal mooring arrangement scheme can be *** research results in this work can provide a reference for the design of mooring systems.
