With the recent booming of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly deep learning techniques, digital healthcare is one of the prevalent areas that could gain benefits from AI-enabled functionality. This research presents a novel AI-enabled Internet of Things (IoT) device operating from the ESP-8266 platform capable of assisting those who suffer from impairment of hearing or deafness to communicate with others in conversations. In the proposed solution, a server application is created that leverages Google's online speech recognition service to convert the received conversations into texts, then deployed to a micro-display attached to the glasses to display the conversation contents to deaf people, to enable and assist conversation as normal with the general population. Furthermore, in order to raise alert of traffic or dangerous scenarios, an 'urban-emergency' classifier is developed using a deep learning model, Inception-v4, with transfer learning to detect/recognize alerting/alarming sounds, such as a horn sound or a fire alarm, with texts generated to alert the prospective user. The training of Inception-v4 was carried out on a consumer desktop PC and then implemented into the AI-based IoT application. The empirical results indicate that the developed prototype system achieves an accuracy rate of 92% for sound recognition and classification with real-time performance. © 2020 IEEE.

One of the most difficult challenges in requirements engineering is understanding the information provided by the stakeholders so as to establish the requirements. Moreover, there is considerable frustration whenever a requirement change is initiated and we are unable to analyse the impact of this change despite (or perhaps because of) having piles of requirements documents. This paper outlines a method for Abstraction-based Requirements Management (AbstRM) that is useful for requirements impact analysis and other requirements management activities. The expansion of Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems (ICPS) has introduced new challenges in security and privacy, highlighting a research gap in effective anomaly detection while preserving data confidentiality. In the ICPS landscape, where vast amounts of sensitive industrial data are exchanged, ensuring privacy is not just a regulatory compliance issue but a critical shield against industrial espionage and cyber threats. Existing solutions often compromise data privacy for enhanced security, leaving a significant void in protecting sensitive information within ICPS networks. Addressing this, our research presents the IP2FL model, an Interpretation-based Privacy-Preserving Federated Learning approach tailored for ICPS. This model combines Additive Homomorphic Encryption (AHE) for privacy with advanced feature selection methods and Shapley Values (SV) for enhanced explainability. The proposed solution mitigates privacy concerns in federated learning, where traditional methods fall short due to computational constraints and lack of interpretability. By integrating AHE, the IP2FL model minimizes computational overhead and ensures data privacy. Our dual feature selection approach optimizes system performance while incorporating SV to provide critical insights into model decisions, advancing the field towards more transparent and understandable AI systems in ICPS. The validation of our model using ICPS-specific datasets demonstrates its effectiveness and potential for practical applications. © 2023 IEEE.

The emergence of next-generation latency-critical applications places strict requirements on network latency and stability. Edge cloud, an instantiated paradigm for edge computing, is gaining more and more attention due to its benefits of low latency. In this work, we make an in-depth investigation into the network QoS, especially end-to-end latency, at both spatial and temporal dimensions on a nationwide edge computing platform. Through the measurements, we collect a multi-variable large-scale real-world dataset on latency. We then quantify how the spatial-temporal factors affect the end-to-end latency, and verified the predictability of end-to-end latency. The results reveal the limitation of centralized clouds and illustrate how could edge clouds provide low and stable latency. Our results also point out that existing edge clouds merely increase the density of servers and ignore spatial-temporal factors, so they still suffer from high latency and fluctuations. Based on the observations, we propose a robust prototype edge cloud model based on lessons we learn from the measurement and evaluate its performance in the production environment. The further evaluation result shows that edge clouds achieve 84.1. latency reduction with 0.5ms latency fluctuation and 73.3% QoS improvement compared with the centralized clouds. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we first discussed the video decoding standard and its architecture, and then analyzed the decoding complexity of each process. By using the benefit of the CUDA programming model, and taking advantages of GPU to optimize the decoding process of MC (motion compensation) and CSC(color space conversion) that are very time consuming, we proposed a MC accelerating method based on CUDA, and a CSC accelerating method based on CUDA and OpenGL shader. The experiments show that it is feasible to decode high definition video in real time using GPGPU-CUDA © 201. IEEE.

Mobile games are one of the primary entertainment applications at present. Limited by scarce resources, such as memory, CPU, input and output, etc, mobile game development is more difficult than desktop application development, with performance as one of the top critical requirements. As object-oriented technology is the prevalent programming paradigm, most of the current mobile games are developed with object-orientation (OO) technologies. Intuitively OO is not a perfect paradigm for embedded software. Questions remain such as how OO and to what degree OO will affect the performance, executable file size, and how optimization strategies can improve the qualities of mobile game software. These questions are investigated in this paper within the mobile Role-Playing-Game (RPG) domain using five industrial mobile games developed with OO. We analyzed them and found excessive usage of OO features used for the development of mobile device applications (but normal for usual desktop applications). We then apply some optimization strategies along the way of structural programming. The experiment shows that the total jar file size of these five optimized games decreases 71., the lines of codes decreases 59%, and the loading time of each optimized game decreases 22.73%, 34.62%, 25.79%, 24.65% and 1..70% respectively. Therefore, we conclude from our experiments that OO should be used with great care in the development of mobile games, and that structural programming can be a very competitive alternative. © 2007 IEEE.

Fingerprint identification systems have been widely deployed in many occasions of our daily ***,together with many advantages,they are still vulnerable to the presentation attack(PA)by some counterfeit *** address challenges from PA,fingerprint liveness detection(FLD)technology has been proposed and gradually attracted people’s *** vast majority of the FLD methods directly employ convolutional neural network(CNN),and rarely pay attention to the problem of overparameterization and over-fitting of models,resulting in large calculation force of model deployment and poor model *** at filling this gap,this paper designs a lightweight multi-scale convolutional neural network method,and further proposes a novel hybrid spatial pyramid pooling block to extract abundant features,so that the number of model parameters is greatly reduced,and support multi-scale true/fake fingerprint ***,the representation self-challenge(RSC)method is used to train the model,and the attention mechanism is also adopted for optimization during execution,which alleviates the problem of model over-fitting and enhances generalization of detection ***,experimental results on two publicly benchmarks:LivDet201. and LivDet201. sets,show that our method achieves outstanding detection results for blind materials and *** size of the model parameters is only 548 KB,and the average detection error of cross-sensors and cross-materials are 1..22 and 1.respectively,reaching the highest level currently available.

In this paper, aiming an IC implementation of a DC-DC converter with low output-voltages and large output-currents, a parallel-connected step-down DC-DC converter is designed by using a switched-capacitor (SC) technique. The proposed SC power converter is synthesized with the charge-averaging type converters. By connecting N (= 2,3,...) converter blocks in parallel, the proposed converter can realize large current outputs and small output ripple. Furthermore, the characteristics concerning equivalent circuits, efficiency, and ripple factor are clarified by theoretical analyses since the theoretical analyses concerning the parallel-connected SC power converters have not been performed as far as authors know. The validity of the theoretical results and the circuit design is confirmed through SPICE simulations. Through the theoretical analyses and the circuit simulations, the following results are obtained: 1. the parallel-connected SC DC-DC converter can realize large current outputs and small output ripple, 2. in order to achieve high efficiency, the fluctuation of circuit elements should be minimized, and 3. by shifting the timing of the clock pulses cyclically, the ripple factor can be decreased.
