With the introduction of mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs), nodes are able to participate in a dynamic network which lacks an underlying infrastructure. Before two nodes agree to interact, they must trust that each will satisfy the security and privacy requirements of the other. In this paper, using the cognition inspired method from the brain informatics (BI), we present a novel approach to improving the search efficiency and scalability of MANETs by clustering nodes based on cognitive trust mechanism. The trust relationship is formed by evaluating the level of trust using Bayesian statistic analysis, and clusters can be formed and maintained autonomously by nodes with only partial knowledge. Simulation experiments show that each node can form and join proper clusters, which improve the interaction performance of the entire network. The essence of the underlying reason is analyzed through the theory of complex networks, revealing great scalability of this method.

Effect of pretreatment of substrate on synthesized diamond films on Tungsten Carbide substrate by flame combustion

A flame combustion method enables the synthesis of diamond using acetylene-oxygen gas flame combustion in ambient air. Recently, tungsten carbide (WC) has been used as cutting tools in the machining industry. To obtain diamond films and to achieve good adhesion on the WC substrate, diamond films were synthesized by flame combustion method. However, synthesized diamond films delaminate as a result of thermal stress during cooling. In this study, as a pretreatment of the substrate to prevent the delamination, a chemical processing was performed. The WC substrate was pretreated by chemical etching to roughen the surface. The substrate was etched in an ultrasonic bath using Murakami's reagent. Another processing was performed using an acid solution of hydrogen peroxide, in order to remove cobalt from the substrate surface. The pretreatment periods were varied. Moreover, the effect of the pretreatment of the substrate on synthesized diamond films by flame combustion was investigated. © 201. The Author(s)

This paper desires to explore the role of barcode technology in blood bank information systems via addressing its upgrade and the consequent impact. Firstly, it briefs the application and effect of barcode technology in blood donation and transfusion service. In the second, the barcode paradigms of Macau Codabar and ISBT 1.8 are carefully examined and compared in accordance with the procedure and specifications of barcode upgrade. Then, the impact due to upgrade is assessed from the perspectives of blood bank information system, blood banks, and even blood donation and transfusion service. It finally discusses the considerations on implementing the upgrade of barcode technology in blood bank information systems. © 2006 Springer science+Business Media, Inc.

In this paper, we propose a multi-objective robust controller based on fuzzy singularly perturbed models (FSPM) for the longitudinal motion of an air-breathing hypersonic vehicle. The control objective is to provide velocity and altitude tracking in the presence of the uncertainties and unknown nonlinearities in the model caused by variations in flight conditions. By approximating the multi-time-scale model with FSPM, ill-posed matrix calculations are circumvented. Under this framework, a fuzzy multi-objective robust controller is developed, and the linear matrix inequalities (LMI) condition is derived. Numerical simulation using the longitudinal model of a hypersonic aircraft is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

In this paper, an appearance based image processing method is proposed for target detection, posture estimation, and tracking of 3D objects by Parametric Eigenspace Method embedded particle filter. In this method, the computational cost of Parametric Eigenspace Method and the tracking error can be greatly reduced by using the outputs of previous time and the preliminary knowledge of dynamics of movement of targets for a particle filter. Namely, since the particles of the particle filter can be generated in the direction where the object will be moved by using the posture estimated by Parametric Eigenspace Method for the prediction model, the accuracy of the state estimation of the object can be improved without increasing the number of particles. Therefore, the proposed method uses output result of Particle Filters and Parametric Eigenspace Method recursively and mutually for fast simultaneous execution of detection, posture estimation, and tracking of the targets. Furthermore, we demonstrate validity of our approach by several experiments. © 2009 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

An approach for restoring the images of a suspected person taken by a security camera with dirty lens is proposed In the approach, the peculiar facts concerning the security camera system that all the things in the image except the suspected person itself are usually preserved and that can be used for investigations are to be used as fully as possible. As the first trial for realizing the proposed approach, a method of restoring an image of a person's face taken by a camera with dirty lens under strong oblique illumination is proposed and its practical application is demonstrated experimentally. The importance of pursuing the proposed approach is discussed from the viewpoints of not only the novelty in image processing technology but also the viewpoints of the efficiency in criminal investigation and social security. ©2006 IEEE.

Breast cancer(BC)is the most widely recognized cancer in women *** 201.,627,000 women had died of breast cancer(World Health Organization Report 201.).To diagnose BC,the evaluation of tumours is achieved by analysis of histological *** present,the Nottingham Bloom Richardson framework is the least expensive approach used to grade BC *** contemplate three elements,*** count,*** formation,and *** atypia,which is a laborious process that witness’s variations in expert’s ***,some algorithms have been proposed for the detection of mitotic cells,but nuclear atypia in breast cancer histopathology has not received much *** atypia analysis is performed not only to grade BC but also to provide critical information in the discrimination of normal breast,non-invasive breast(usual ductal hyperplasia,atypical ductal hyperplasia)and pre-invasive breast(ductal carcinoma in situ)and invasive breast *** proposed a deep-stacked multi-layer autoencoder ensemble with a softmax layer for the feature extraction and classification *** classification results show the value of the multilayer autoencoder model in the evaluation of nuclear *** proposed method has indicated promising results,making them more fit in breast cancer grading.

In archipelagic countries with long shorelines or with many wide rivers, water transportation may play a significant role also in domestic trades, e.g. Indonesia. Indonesia is an archipelago that includes roughly 1.,508 islands where the total area is 741.052 square miles and with an area of ocean is 35,908 square miles. The Indonesian archipelago stretches 31.1.miles from east to west (Longitude: 97°E - 1.1.E) and 1.94 miles from north to south (Latitude: 6°N - 1.°S). Indonesia needs a system of sea-based for inter-island transportation that can assist in overcoming isolation arising from geographic differences. Sea-based transportation systems depend on effectiveness of the route and ships. This research proposes a method called CAB-Method and help to find a set of routes giving minimal total travel cost satisfying some constrains are spesification of the ships, and sea-depth in the ports. From the result presented shows that route made by CAB-Method will increase the performance improvement of PT. PELNI (PT. PELayaran Nasional Indonesia = the Indonesian National Shipping Company) by save the total cost about $US 75,957.20 for serve all port in Indonesia and also with more number port visited, compared existing route. Increasing number port visited will increase the number of passengers who could be served.

This research introduces real-time monitoring and localizing product stock using the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) method with radio frequency identification (RFID) pressure sensing tags. The proposed FIFO system has RFID pressure sensing tags that detect pressure changes, generate sensor codes, and estimate a stock location. Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) improves location estimation accuracy of up-to-date stock visibility. The ability of RFID pressure sensing tags and AI to detect stock from sensor code data enables more effective asset management, optimizes stock management, reduces product waste, and contributes to better efficiency in product inventory management. © 2024 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

The current software development environment has been changing into new development paradigms such as concurrent distributed development environment and the so-called open source project by using network computing technologies. New distributed development paradigm typified by such open source project will evolve at a rapid pace in the future. Especially, OSS (Open Source Software) systems which serve as key components of critical infrastructures in the society are still ever-expanding now. We focus on OSS developed under open source project. In this paper, we propose a software reliability growth model based on stochastic differential equations in order to consider the active state of the open source project. Especially, we assume that the software failure intensity depends on the time, and the software fault-report phenomena on the bug tracking system keep an irregular state. Also, we analyze actual software fault count data to show numerical examples of software reliability assessment for the OSS. Moreover, it has been necessary to manage the software development process in terms of reliability, effort, and version-upgrade time. In this paper, we find the optimal total version-upgrade time based on the total expected software maintenance effort. We show that the proposed model can assist improvement of quality for OSS systems developed under the open source project. © 2008 ICQR.
