The novel adaptive filtering algorithm based on the analysis of the detail images obtained from the wavelet decomposition of the original noisy image is proposed in the paper. The base idea is to compute the wavelet decomposition of the noisy image to reduce the amplitude of insignificant detail coefficients in the wavelet subspaces by selecting an adaptive filter window of size, the adaptive windowing algorithm was introduced where the window size is automatically adjusted depending on the samples statistics in the boundary of this window such as mean z and standard deviation σz, and then utilizing modified 2nd order Lee filtering. One of the advantages of this approach over the traditional speckle filtering method is the fact that textures are preserved while speckle is reduced. Experimental simulations by real SAR images show it are effective. © 2007 IEEE.

We analyzed the seismic waveforms from the December 26, 2004 Sumatra-Andaman earthquake recorded at broadband seismic stations in western Europe. Previous studies involving of the beam-forming technique and high frequency analysis suggest that the earthquake ruptured with a duration of around 500 s. This very long duration makes P wave overlap with later arrivals such as PP wave, which follows P in about 200 s. Since P waves are crucial for modeling earthquake processes, we propose an iterative method to separate P and PP waveforms. The separated P waveform confirms a second large energy release around 300 s after the initial rupture. The iterative signal separation technique is particularly useful for mixed signals that are not independent and the number of recording stations far exceeds number of mixed signal sources.

Barcode has been widely applied in the modern world. This paper presents a fast and robust recognition method of noisy Code 39 barcode. The proposed method can be divided into two steps: search and decoding. In the first step, all asterisks in the image are found with evenly defined scan lines and then those with the same directions are matched together to get a valid barcode region. In the second step, a local denoise method is first applied to eliminate noise in the barcode region and then a middle band filter is used to decode the barcode. Our method is simple in comparison with former methods and experimental results show that it is efficient for fast barcode recognition on noisy images. © 2006 IEEE.

An image-reject hairpin bandpass filter used in Ku-band low noise block (LNB) is designed, and optimized in the paper. The designed detail of the filter is explained and the image-reject is illustrated theoretically. According to the research, under the condition of reducing the size as small as possible, the hairpin filter used in Ku-band LNB we designed not only can satisfy the demands from bandwidth and return loss, but also has good image-reject. In the end, the results of the simulation and measurement are presented, which prove the feasibility of our design. ©201. IEEE.

Standard backprojection technique is used in typical through-wall synthetic aperture radar (TWSAR) image, it implicitly assumes infinite beamwidth, whereby the entire target area is illuminated and returns are collected from all points in the imaging grid, and this decreases the efficiency of the algorithm by summing over unnecessary grid points. In order to eliminate the disadvantage, the time-domain backprojection method based on finite beamwidth processing is proposed in the paper. The processing method is designed to be more physically realistic by accounting for the actual antenna pattern. Simulation results show that depending on the width of the effective beam, the number of processing loops can be reduced by up to 50%, while still maintaining good image quality in terms of the reconstructed target response. © 201. Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) for feature selection has attracted increasing attention of researchers recently. However, in the existing methods, quick convergence usually degrades the diversity of the population, especially when many irrelevant and redundant features involved in them. To this end, a diversity based competitive multi-objective particle swarm optimization for feature selection problem (named D-CMOPSO) is proposed. In D-CMOPSO, a diversified competition based learning mechanism is proposed to improve the quality of found feature subset, which consists of three parts: exemplar particle construction, pairwise competition, and diversified learning strategy. The proposed competition mechanism utilizes the above three parts to boost the diversity in the following generations. Moreover, in order to guide the initial population to evolve the promising area, a maximal information coefficient based initialization strategy is also suggested. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed D-CMOPSO is competitive for feature selection problem. © 201., Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this paper, Maxwell's equations are taken as a Hamiltonian system and then written as Hamiltonian canonical equations by using the functional variation method. The symplectic and ADI schemes, which can be extracted by applying two types of approximation to the time evolution operator, are explicit and implicit scheme in computational electromagnetic simulation, respectively. Since Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) encounter low accuracy and high dispersion, the more accurate simulation methods can be derived by evaluating the curl operator in the spatial direction with kinds of high order approaches including high order staggered difference, compact finite difference and scaling function approximations. The numerical dispersion of the symplectic and ADI schemes combining with the three high order spatial difference approximations have been analyzed. It has been shown that symplectic scheme combining with compact finite difference and ADI scheme combining with scaling function performance better than other methods. Both schemes can be usefully employed for simulating and solving the large scale electromagnetic problems. © 201. IEEE.

In the paper, the method of splitting plane wave FDTD (SP-FDTD) algorithm, an efficient method of introducing plane wave source into finite difference time domain grids, is presented for solving oblique incident wave for the modified high-order FDTD (M24 scheme). Numerical examples in 2-D demonstrate the valid of the method and normalized field leakage was measured at -320 dB levels. ©201. IEEE.

The paper presents a new efficient method of introduction of plane wave source into finite difference time domain (FDTD) grids: the method of splitting the plane-wave FDTD (SP-FDTD). The new equations for the 1.D propagator are based on spitted-field Maxwell's equations, and the propagator makes the 1.D and 2-D dispersion equations identical. The technique virtually eliminates numerical dispersion, filed location and polarization mismatches between propagator and main grid, for a plane wave propagating at an angle forming an integer grid cell ratio, which can represent almost any angle in theory. Through the leak test of the different incident angles of the Gauss pulse plane wave source in 2-D, it shows that, the technique can achieve a perfect total-field scattered-field separation, making leakage down to -340 dB levels. © 201.
