In order to meet the requirements of the navigation system for antennas with wide 3-dB AR beam-width, this paper proposes an axial-ratio beam-width enhancement of antenna based on electromagnetic bandgap (EBG). The effect of surface wave on the circular polarization of the antenna is suppressed by loading two layers of mushroom-like EBG unit cells around the patch. The loading of the EBG increases the 3-dB AR beam-width of the antenna by 78% in the xoz plane and the by 84% in the yoz plane, the simulation and test results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.

This paper proposes a dual-band antenna based on the electromagnetic band gap structure suitable for WLAN communication systems. The proposed antenna is designed to work at 2.45/5.8 GHz WLAN band. By loading the EBG structure directly below a dual-frequency monopole antenna, the in-phase superposition of electromagnetic waves at the center frequency of the antenna is achieved. The antenna exhibits high gains of near 8.0 and 1..0 dB at the low and high working frequencies while maintaining the low profile characteristics.

A low-profile circularly polarized Metasurfaces antenna based on compact coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed was proposed. The Metasurfaces consists of 1. periodic square-cut metal patches. An hourglass coupled slot was adopted to achieve broadband impedance matching. The antenna has a simple structure and a low cross section, and it can be implemented by a layer of a printed circuit substrate. A circular polarized wave is generated by changing the size of the cut angle of the Metasurfaces, and at the same time, the impedance bandwidth can be widened. To verify the simulation results, a 1. 0 ×1. 0 ×0.05λ 0 (at 1. GHz) model antenna was fabricated and measured. The simulation and measurement results show good consistency. The test results show that the -1.dB return loss bandwidth reaches 45.3 %, and the circular polarization axis ratio(AR) is less than 3dB with a bandwidth of 1..5%.

A hybrid twelve-antenna array operating in the 3.3-3.6 GHz and 4.8-5.0 GHz band for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) applications in 5G smartphones is proposed. The proposed hybrid antenna array elements are symmetrically placed along the long edges of the smartphone, and they are composed of two inverted-F antennas (IFA) with different structural parameters. Real-time monitoring of meteorological conditions has been arousing increasing attention in current production and life. However, considering the challenges of deployment costs and demand for low power consumption, existing monitoring system needs to be improved to meet the requirements of new Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications. Therefore, a wireless sensor network system dedicated for meteorological monitoring is studied based on Long Range (LoRa) in this paper. Firstly, our meteorological monitoring system is designed for real-time services such as agricultural production demand. Then, the implementation of the proposed system is presented in detail as well as the prototype system is deployed on the campus. Finally, various experiments are conducted to provide the results for demonstrating the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed system.

Beamforming is one of the most critical technologies for millimeter wave (mmWave) wireless communications. However, the classical beam selection methods generally require the large system overhead, such as frequent channel estimation. To this end, this paper proposes a new vision-aided beam prediction scheme based on object detection for mmWave wireless communications. In this scheme, the optimal beams are directly predicted based on the RGB images captured by cameras. Specifically, we first adopt the object detection model to locate the positions of all targeted users in the RGB images. Then, based on multilayer perceptron, an angle prediction model is used to estimate the angles between the users and the cameras. In addition, we select the optimal beam indexes from a pre-defined beam codebook according to the information of angle and codebook. Finally, the experimental results reveal that our proposed scheme has the lower overhead, higher accuracy and better scalability.
