With the impressive achievements of chatGPT and Sora, generative artificial intelligence (GAI) has received increasing attention. Not limited to the field of content generation, GAI is also widely used to solve the problems in wireless communication scenarios due to its powerful learning and generalization capabilities. Therefore, we discuss key applications of GAI in improving unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication and networking performance in this article. Specifically, we first review the key technologies of GAI and the important roles of UAV networking. Then, we show how GAI can improve the communication, networking, and security performances of UAV systems. Subsequently, we propose a novel framework of GAI for advanced UAV networking, and then present a case study of UAV-enabled spectrum map estimation and transmission rate optimization based on the proposed framework to verify the effectiveness of GAI-enabled UAV systems. Finally, we discuss some important open directions. © 2024 IEEE.

Drug-Drug Interaction (DDI) prediction task is helpful for better-understanding drugs. In this paper, we propose a novel drug-drug interaction prediction model based on line subgraph generation strategy, named DDI-LSG model. Our DDI-LSG model consists of three main parts which include drug relation graph construction, line subgraph generation strategy, and graph-level classification. To consider more relationships among drugs, we propose a node feature-enhancing method to encode drug features in drug relation graph construction process. To consider drugs and DDI as equivalent factors of our DDI-LSG model, we introduce line graph transformation to integrate DDI with drug feature enhancing vector. Combining Jaccard similarity with cosine similarity, we propose a line subgraph generation strategy to evaluate node relation and extract key structures around target DDI in the line graph. Then, we reformulate the DDI prediction task into a graph-level classification task for the line subgraph of the target DDI. Therefore, in the final part of our DDI-LSG model, we use a graph-level classifier to classify the line subgraphs. Our DDI-LSG model outperforms better experiment results than baselines. Ablation results have validated the node feature enhancing method and line subgraph generation strategy.

In the era of the sixth generation (6G) and industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), an industrial cyber-physical system (ICPS) drives the proliferation of sensor devices and computing-intensive tasks. To address the limited resources of IIoT sensor devices, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) has emerged as a promising solution, providing flexible and cost-effective services in close proximity of IIoT sensor devices (ISDs). However, leveraging aerial MEC to meet the delay-sensitive and computation-intensive requirements of the ISDs could face several challenges, including the limited communication, computation and caching (3C) resources, stringent offloading requirements for 3C services, and constrained on-board energy of UAVs. To address these issues, we first present a collaborative aerial MEC-assisted ICPS architecture by incorporating the computing capabilities of the macro base station (MBS) and UAVs. We then formulate a service delay minimization optimization problem (SDMOP). Since the SDMOP is proved to be an NP-hard problem, we propose a joint computation offloading, caching, communication resource allocation, computation resource allocation, and UAV trajectory control approach (JC5A). Specifically, JC5A consists of a block successive upper bound minimization method of multipliers (BSUMM) for computation offloading and service caching, a convex optimization-based method for communication and computation resource allocation, and a successive convex approximation (SCA)-based method for UAV trajectory control. Moreover, we theoretically prove the convergence and polynomial complexity of JC5A. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach can achieve superior system performance compared to the benchmark approaches and algorithms. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Wide aspect ratio matching for robust face detection

Recently, anchor-based methods have achieved great progress in face detection. Once anchor design and anchor matching strategy determined, plenty of positive anchors will be sampled. However, faces with extreme aspect ratio always fail to be sampled according to standard anchor matching strategy. In fact, the max IoUs between anchors and extreme aspect ratio faces are still lower than fixed sampling threshold. In this paper, we firstly explore the factors that affect the max IoU of each face in theory. Then, anchor matching simulation is performed to evaluate the sampling range of face aspect ratio. Besides, we propose a Wide Aspect Ratio Matching (WARM) strategy to collect more representative positive anchors from ground-truth faces across a wide range of aspect ratio. Finally, we present a novel feature enhancement module, named Receptive Field Diversity (RFD) module, to provide diverse receptive field corresponding to different aspect ratios. Extensive experiments show that our method can help detectors better capture extreme aspect ratio faces and achieve promising detection performance on challenging face detection benchmarks, including WIDER FACE and FDDB datasets. © 2021. This paper is concerned with the unique identification of the shape of a scatterer through a single far-field pattern in an inverse elastic medium scattering problem with a generalized transmission boundary condition. The uniqueness issue by a single far-field measurement is a challenging problem in inverse scattering theory, which has a long and colorful history. In this paper, we demonstrate the well-posedness of the direct problem by the variational approach. We establish the uniqueness results by a single far-field measurement under a generic scenario when dealing with underlying elastic scatterers exhibiting polygonal-nest or polygonal-cell structures. Furthermore, for a polygonal-nest or polygonal-cell structure scatterer associated with density and boundary impedance parameters as piecewise constants, we show that these physical quantities can be uniquely determined simultaneously by a single far-field measurement. The low-altitude economy (LAE), as a new economic paradigm, plays an indispensable role in cargo transportation, healthcare, infrastructure inspection, and especially post-disaster communication. Specifically, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as one of the core technologies of the LAE, can be deployed to provide communication coverage, facilitate data collection, and relay data for trapped users, thereby significantly enhancing the efficiency of post-disaster response efforts. However, conventional UAV self-organizing networks exhibit low reliability in long-range cases due to their limited onboard energy and transmit ability. Therefore, in this paper, we design an efficient and robust UAV-swarm enabled collaborative self-organizing network to facilitate post-disaster communications. Specifically, a ground device transmits data to UAV swarms, which then use collaborative beamforming (CB) technique to form virtual antenna arrays and relay the data to a remote access point (AP) efficiently. Then, we formulate a rescue-oriented post-disaster transmission rate maximization optimization problem (RPTRMOP), aimed at maximizing the transmission rate of the whole network. Given the challenges of solving the formulated RPTRMOP by using traditional algorithms, we propose a two-stage optimization approach to address it. In the first stage, the optimal traffic routing and the theoretical upper bound on the transmission rate of the network are derived. In the second stage, we transform the formulated RPTRMOP into a variant named V-RPTRMOP based on the obtained optimal traffic routing, aimed at rendering the actual transmission rate closely approaches its theoretical upper bound by optimizing the excitation current weight and the placement of each participating UAV via a diffusion model-enabled particle swarm optimization (DM-PSO) algorithm. As a form of artificial intelligence (AI) technology based on interactive learning, deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has been widely applied across various fields and has achieved remarkable accomplishments. However, DRL faces certain limitations, including low sample efficiency and poor generalization. Therefore, we present how to leverage generative AI (GAI) to address these issues above and enhance the performance of DRL algorithms in this paper. We first introduce several classic GAI and DRL algorithms and demonstrate the applications of GAI-enhanced DRL algorithms. Then, we discuss how to use GAI to improve DRL algorithms from the data and policy perspectives. Subsequently, we introduce a framework that demonstrates an actual and novel integration of GAI with DRL, i.e., GAI-enhanced DRL. Additionally, we provide a case study of the framework on UAV-assisted integrated near-field/far-field communication to validate the performance of the proposed framework. Deep learning often requires large amounts of data from different institutions. Federated learning, as a distributed training framework, enables multiple participants to collaboratively train models without collecting data together and hence protecting data privacy, but the datasets from different institutions usually bring the problem of domain shift, which affects the performance of the model. When addressing domain shift, previous works often use a single global model to share parameters. Therefore, we propose a novel method to train multiple public models with different structures under the federated framework to improve the reliability and robustness of the public models. And each participant keeps its own domain-tuned private model, the private model does not share parameters with other participants. We use Mixture of Experts (MoE) domain adaptation to dynamically combine different public models and private model, which utilizes the similarity between different datasets to update the parameters of the public models. We apply the proposed method to the multi-site Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) end-to-end classification, and the experiments demonstrate its effectiveness.

Automatic segmentation of polyps from colonoscopy images plays a critical role in early screening and treatment of colorectal cancer. Although deep learning methods have made significant progress, precise polyp segmentation faces two challenges: (1. the imbalance of color appearances in the limited training dataset hinders the generalization of the model, and (2) polyps have the diverse scales, locations and shapes with blurred boundary. To address the issues, Dataset-Level Color Augmentation (DLCA) and Convolutional Multi-scale Attention Module (CMAM) are proposed. DLCA employs the dataset-level color knowledge and generate new color appearances, to avoid the model learning false associations with colors. Meanwhile, CMAM simultaneously explores the region and boundary clues and model multi-scale context, which improves the accuracy of polyp localization and fine-grained segmentation. We conduct comprehensive experiments and compare our network with state-of-the-art methods. The proposed model is superior on multiple polyp datasets, especially on ETIS, where mDice and mIoU reach 0.839 and 0.766. Furthermore, it's validated that DLCA can be widely applied to most polyp segmentation methods, and CMAM is practical and plug-and-play. Finally, the model demonstrates promising generalization to breast ultrasound and skin lesion segmentation. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
