Experimental investigation was carried out for gas-liquid slug flow in vertical and inclined tubes. The non- Invasive measurements of the gas-liquid slug flow were taken by using the EKTAPRO 1.00 High Speed Motion Analyzer. The present paper has obtained the information on the velocity of the Taylor bubble, the size distribution of the dispersed bubbles in the liquid slugs and some characteritics of the liquid film around the Taylor bubble. In this study, the ignition delay times of DME/n-C4H 1. fuel blends (neat DME, 50/50 and neat n-C4H 1.) diluted with argon were measured behind reflected shock waves. The experiments were performed in the temperature range of 1.50 - 1.00 K, at pressure of 2.0 MPa and equivalence ratios from 0.5 to 2.0. A latest kinetic mechanism NUIG Aramco Mech 1.3 was validated against the present ignition data and used to conducted chemical kinetic analysis. Different equivalence-ratio- dependent was exhibited at different temperature regimes for DME, n-C 4H1., and their blend. Fuel flux analysis, sensitive analysis and mole fraction analysis were carried out for understanding the interaction between the ignition chemistries of DME and n-C4H 1.. Copyright © 201. Modulating redox transition kinetics by anion regulation in Ni-Fe-X(X=O,S,Se,N,and P)electrocatalyst for efficient water oxidation

NiFe-based electrocatalysts will experience dynamical surface reconstruction during oxygen evolution reaction(OER)process,and the derived metal(oxy)hydroxide hybrids on the surface have been considered as the actual active species for *** efforts have been dedicated to understanding the surface reconstruction,but there is rare research on recognizing the origin of improved performance derived from anion species of ***,the OER electrocatalytic characteristics were tuned with different anions in NiFe-based catalyst,using NiFe-based oxides/nitride/sulfide/selenides/phosphides(NiFeX,X=O,N,S,Se,and P)as the model *** combination of X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopy,electrochemical tests,operando spectroscopic characterizations,and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,reveals that anion with lower electronegativity in NiFe-based catalyst leads to higher conductivity and delayed valence transition of Ni sites,as well as optimized adsorption behavior towards oxygen intermediates,contributing to enhanced OER ***,NiFeP electrocatalyst demonstrates an ultralow overpotential of 265 mV at 20 mA·cm−2 for OER,as well as long-term *** work not only offers further insights into the effect of anionic electronegativity on the intrinsic OER electrocatalytic properties of NiFe-based electrocatalyst but also provides guide to design efficient non-noble metal-based electrocatalysts for water oxidation.

Designing high efficacy photocatalysts is a promising way to improve solar fuel production *** this work,we prepared a core/shell composite of loose ZnCr layered double hydroxide nanosheets modified CdS nanorods for efficient visible light driven photocatalytic hydrogen *** highest hydrogen production rate achieved 425.8μmol·h^(−1. without adding any noble metal cocatalyst under the visible light stimulus,which is 22.4 times that of 1.wt.%Pt-modified *** corresponding apparent quantum yield is 1..9%at 420 *** is revealed that the synergistic actions of the interfacial redox shuttle of Cr^(3+)/Cr^(δ+)and the interfacial electric field enable the efficient separation of photoinduced charge carriers between two components via a Z-scheme energy band ***,with the hydrogen evolution contribution of Zn^(2+),a remarkable improvement in photocatalytic performance was achieved in contrast to bare *** work provides an effective methodology to construct highly efficient and economically viable photocatalysts for solar H_(2)production and mechanistic study.

In terms of spray vaporization visualization, effects of ambient temperature (394-51. K) and ambient pressure (0.1.3.8 MPa) on multi-hole gasoline spray macroscopic characteristics has been investigated separately via optical diagnostics. Schlieren method was adopted to visualize vapor phase fuel at high ambient temperature. Laser sheet optical patternation provided us with cross-section perspective to verify results in schlieren images and acquire additional information like plume distribution. The results show that vaporization process will be promoted by high ambient temperature due to enhanced heat transfer between spray body and surrounding gas. The effects of ambient pressure on spray evolution possess different inner mechanisms with ambient temperature variation. In low ambient temperature, axial evolution indicated by vapor tip penetration will be restricted by high ambient pressure, whereas radial expansion indicated by spray angle will be facilitated. For atmospheric ambient pressure in high ambient temperature, spray collapse will appear due to enhanced vaporization of single plume and intensified jet-to-jet interaction. Moreover, because of inhibited vaporization of light component in high ambient pressure, vaporization model will transfer from distilled-like vaporization to co-vaporization, indicated by homogeneous vapor phase distribution. © Asia-Pacific Conference on Combustion, ASPACC *** right reserved.

Polyacrylate modified Cu electrode for selective electrochemical CO_(2) reduction towards multicarbon products

Highly selective production of value-added multicarbon(C^(2+))products via electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reaction(eCO_(2)RR)on polycrystalline copper(Cu)remains ***,the facile surface modification using poly(α-ethyl cyanoacrylate)(PECA)is presented to greatly enhance the C^(2+)selectivity for eCO_(2)RR over polycrystalline Cu,with Faradaic efficiency(FE)towards C^(2+)products increased from30.1.for the Cu electrode to 72.6%for the obtained Cu-PECA electrode at-1.1.V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE).Given the well-determined FEs towards C^(2+)products,the partial current densities for C^(2+)production could be estimated to be-1.5.4 mA cm~(-2)for the Cu-PECA electrode at-0.9 V *** in a homemade flow ***-situ spectral characterizations and theoretical calculations reveal that PECA featured with electron-accepting-C≡N and-COOR groups decorated onto the Cu electrode could inhibit the adsorption of^(*)H intermediates and stabilize the^(*)CO intermediates,given the redistributed interfacial electron density and the raised energy level of d-band center(E_(d))of Cu active sites,thus facilitating the C-C coupling and then the C^(2+)selective *** study is believed to be guidable to the modification of electrocatalysts and electrodes with polymers to steer the surface adsorption behaviors of reaction intermediates to realize practical eCO_(2)RR towards value-added C^(2+)products with high activity and selectivity.

The premixed flames of DME-hydrogen-air premixed mixture were studied by the outwardly expanding flame and schlieren photography. The influences from equivalence ratio, hydrogen addition and initial pressure on the flame speed and combustion characteristics are analyzed. The results show that the flame speed, the laminar burning velocity and the mass burning rate increase with the increase of hydrogen addition. Increasing the ratio of hydrogen to DME will shorten the combustion duration. In the case of small hydrogen addition, the Markstein length decreases with the increase of equivalence ratio, and this reveals that lean mixture has better flame front stability than of rich mixture. In the case of large hydrogen addition, the Markstein length increases with the increase of equivalence ratio, and this indicates that rich mixture has better flame front stability than that of lean mixture. The initial pressure has larger influence on the combustion pressure than that from hydrogen addition. The flame development duration decreases with the increase of hydrogen addition and/or with the increase of equivalence ratio. Addition of hydrogen into DME can improve the ignitability of the mixtures and fasten the combustion. Copyright © 2008 by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Experimental investigation on the removal of hydrogen cyanide (HCN) using calcium oxide (CaO) was carried out in a fixed bed reactor at temperature ranging from 300 to 1.73 K, and the original HCN was produced during the pyrolysis of pyridine. Effects of temperature, volume space velocity, and initial HCN concentration on HCN removal were discussed. The results of temperature-programmed experiments show that temperature is the main factor affecting HCN removal. With the formation of CO, HCN starts to decrease from 473 K, and remains unchanged from 673 to 873 K. At 873 K, there is a further decrease in HCN without CO formation, and when temperature is higher than 1.23 K, HCN is removed completely. In the isothermal experiments, CaCN2 was detected at 723 K, but at higher temperatures of 923 and 1.23 K, there was no CaCN2 in the solid residues, and the nitrogen in the removed HCN was equal to that in the formed N2. This indicates that at a lower temperature CaO is consumed to remove HCN, CaO + 2HCN f CaCN2 + CO + H2;but at a higher temperature, CaO acts as a catalyst for HCN removal, 2CiHj + 2HCN f N2 + (j + 1.- k)H2 + 2Ci+1.k. The investigation on the removal efficiency shows that there is a critical temperature and a critical volume space velocity at which the HCN removal efficiency is able to reach up to 1.0%. © 2009 American Chemical Society.

Numerical investigations on cluster characteristics in the supercritical water circulating fluidized bed riser

There are currently no reports about clusters in the supercritical water circulating fluidized bed(SCWCFB).Simulations were conducted to investigate the numbers,diameters,aspect ratios,circularity,and orientation angles of cluster in the riser of SCWCFB via two-fluid model across different flow velocities,solid circulation rates,pressures,and *** results show that cluster numbers are mainly between 1. and 80 per *** are more at the bottom but less at the top,and more near the wall but less at the *** diameters are mainly between 0.2 and 0.5 times the bed *** are large at the bottom but small at the top,and large at the center but small near the *** aspect ratios are mainly between 0 and 1.indicating that most clusters have shorter width than their ***-like clusters are more likely to appear near the walls,and clusters at the center of the riser are more likely to be *** circularity is mainly between 0.2 and 0.4,suggesting that the shapes of clusters are far from the *** absolute values of cluster orientation angles are mainly between 75°and 90°,indicating that most clusters move in the vertical *** fluid velocities may facilitate cluster coalescence.
