Rhodobacter capsulatus (R. capsulatus), which is a typical purple nonsulfur photosynthetic bacterium, is able to produce hydrogen under photosynthetic condition. A mutant of R. capsulatus named MC1.2 was obtained by Tn5 transposon mutagenesis. The transposon mutant had improved photoheterotrophic hydrogen production performance using acetic acid as substrate and its mutation site was located by sequencing the rescued plasmid containing the transposon insertion from the genome of the mutant. It was found for the first time that disruption of the multidrug resistance protein (mdtB) gene resulted in improved hydrogen production. © 201., Hydrogen Energy Publications, LLC. Experimental investigation was carried out to study heat transfer characteristics of supercritical CO2 at low mass flux conditions. A vertical tube with an inner diameter of 1. mm was tested at various heat fluxes and pressures. The flow was driven by mixed convection with strong buoyancy force owing to low mass flux and high heat flux. The experimental results shown that a "no wall temperature peak" heat transfer deterioration with an exactly large temperature difference between the tube and fluid occurred at high enthalpy region, which was especially different from the general deterioration phenomenon with a wall temperature peak occurred at normal mass flux in previous studies. Heat transfer in low mass flux was accompanied with a heat transfer enhancement phenomenon before the pseudo critical point and a deterioration after that. With increasing heat flux, the deterioration was strengthened, but the enhancement was little weakened and moved towards the low enthalpy region due to the combined effect of buoyancy and specific heat of fluid. The effect of pressure on heat transfer in various cases was different. Heat transfer was reduced with a rising pressure at low heat flux cases, but when heat flux became larger, heat transfer was enhanced with the increase of pressure. The parameters representing to buoyancy and thermal acceleration effects were also introduced respectively to explain the mechanism of heat transfer. Results shown the buoyancy effect and the distribution of large specific heat fluid were greatly responsible for the enhancement and the deterioration in heat transfer. While the effect of thermal acceleration on heat transfer in the present study could be neglected. © 201. Association for Computing Machinery Inc. All Rights Reserved.

A study on effects of CO/H2 ratio, H2O dilution and pressures on the cellular structure of moist syngas flame was conducted using spherically expanding flames. Experimental conditions for the CO/H2/H2O/air mixtures are the pressures from 0.1.to 0.3 MPa, initial temperature of 373K and H2O dilution ratios are from 0 to 0.1.. Results show cellular instability is promoted at atmospheric pressure and suppressed at elevated pressure when H2O is added into the mixture. In addition, critical radius increases with the increase of H2O dilution ratio for the mixture with CO/H2 ratio of 50/50 and changes little when CO/H2 ratio is 20/80. Critical Peclet number decreases with the addition of H2O and increases with the decrease of CO/H2 ratio.

Convective heat transfer characteristics of supercritical pressure hydrocarbon fuel were experimentally investigated in electrically heated small non-circular channels with hydraulic diameter ranging from 2.00 to 3.00 mm. In this research, the system pressure and fuel mass velocity were maintained at supercritical (3.0 MPa) and 840.0 kg/(m2·s), while fuel inlet temperature varied from 200.0 ~ 450.0 °C. Heat transfer characteristics of various cross-section channels were obtained in view of the temperature profiles on the channel outside surface. Experimental results were compared among different non-circular channels. The effects of inlet fuel temperature, heat flux, aspect ratio or length to diameter ratio on the convective heat transfer characteristics were discussed. Due to the varieties of length to diameter ratio, the unique heat transfer characteristics of non-circular cross-section channels seemed to make them suitable for the application of hypersonic vehicle. However, this study did not consider the pyrolytic reaction in the high temperature range. The coking characteristics of small non-circular channels under high temperature may trade off the benefits acquired in the heat transfer characteristics.

In this paper, the control system of a 600MW supercritical lignite-fired boiler was modeled and coupled with boiler thermal system through GSE simulation software. Simulation experiments were conducted under load decrease condition and load rise condition in order to test control effect and analyze efficiency change in the dynamic mode. Simulation results show that the applied control strategies and established control model are reliable and effective. From BMCR condition to THA condition, boiler efficiency falls from 92.08% to 91.71., then slowly increases to 92.02%. From THA condition to 75%THA condition, boiler efficiency drops from 92.02% to 91.42%, then slowly rises to 91.90%. From 75%THA condition to 45%BMCR condition, boiler efficiency slumps from 91.90% to 91.37%, then gradually ascends to 91.76%. From THA condition to BMCR condition, boiler efficiency rises from 92.02% to 92.30%, then slowly decreases to 92.08%. From 75%THA condition to THA condition, boiler efficiency soars from 91.87% to 92.41., then slowly falls to 92.02%. From 45%BMCR condition to 75%THA condition, boiler efficiency ascends from 91.76% to 92.24%, then gradually drops to 91.87%. The present work contains the studies of catalytic reduction of NO with CO over 20 wt.% bimetallic Fe-Cu transition metal oxides supported on rice hull ash (RHA) and γ-Al2O3, which were prepared by various procedures. All catalysts contained CuO and Fe2O3 alongside with CuFe2O4. The catalytic activity kinetics for NO and CO reduction reaction mechanism was obviously improved over the synthesized RHA when compared to alumina support. And bimetallic metal catalyst Fe2Cu1.RHA demonstrated a high conversion of NO at all the temperatures examined. This was due to the strong interaction of Cu-Fe with the amorphous silica and activated carbon in RHA and high dispersion on the supporter. NO was almost reacted to N2 over Fe2Cu1.RHA from room temperature to 500℃ and O2 has little influence on it in our experiment conditions. About 1.0% CO was oxidized after 1.0℃ over Fe2Cu1.RHA. All the materials showed an unchanged stability over the period of 20h. Metallic copper and iron were the active species. The present results suggest that bimetallic Fe-Cu transition metal oxides supported on rice hull ash (RHA) can be used as an applicable catalyst to selectively reduce NO and CO. © ICOPE 201. - 7th International Conference on power {1., Proceedings. Experiments for heat transfer of a kerosene hydrocarbon fuel in a small horizontal tube have been conducted at subcritical and supercritical pressures. Parameters included the pressure of 2.0-5.0 MPa, mass flux of 822-2466 kg/ (m2·s) and heat flux up to 1.00 kW/m2. The wall temperature and heat transfer performance at various operating conditions were captured in the experiments. Based on the results, the normal, improved and deteriorated heat transfer characteristics of the fuel were analyzed in detail. The effects of heat flux, pressure and mass flux on the heat transfer were discussed respectively. The heat transfer performed better when working pressure approached critical pressure. The deterioration in the large change of thermophysical properties region didn't occur at supercritical pressures. In the test, the increase of mass flux could enhance the heat transfer. But the effect of the enhancement decreased with mass flux increase. As to the pressure drop characteristics, low pressure and high mass flux both contributed to the increase of flow resistance.

In this study, the ignition delay times of dimethyl ether (DME)/n-C 4H1. fuel blends, neat DME, and neat n-C4H 1. diluted with argon were measured behind reflected shock waves. The experiments were performed in the temperature range of 1.00-1.00 K, at a pressure of 2.0 MPa, and equivalence ratios from 0.5 to 2.0. A latest kinetic mechanism NUIG Aramco Mech 1.3 was validated against the measured ignition data and used to conduct the chemical kinetic analysis. Results showed that different equivalence ratio-dependent behaviors were exhibited at different temperature regimes for DME, n-C4H1., and their blend. The ignition delay time of neat n-C4H1. was increased with an increase in the equivalence ratio. A strong inhibiting trend was exhibited at high temperatures. For the neat DME, however, an opposite influencing tendency from the equivalence ratio was presented in comparison to that on n-C 4H1.. Ignition promotion becomes significant at relatively low temperatures. A 50% DME/50% n-C4H1. blend show a combined behavior of both n-butane and DME. Fuel reaction flux analysis, sensitive analysis, and mole fraction analysis were conducted for the understanding of the interaction between the ignition chemistries of DME and n-C4H1. at a pressure of 2.0 MPa. © 201. Thickened flame (TF) model is one of the effective methods to simulate combustion phenomenon. Theoretically, it could be extended to multi-step chemical reaction mechanism. However, the results in the present work shown that TF model coupled with multi-step mechanism will underestimate burnt gas temperature, whether in confined or unconfined space. Meanwhile, some post-flame species (CO, OH) concentration are overestimated, which means the decrease in burnt gas temperature is mainly caused by enhanced species diffusion. Dynamic thickened flame (DTF) model coupled with multi-step mechanism performs well for predicting species concentration and combustion state. So it is not recommended to use TF model coupled with a multi-step chemical reaction mechanism. However, the dynamically thickened flame thickness is obviously thinner than the theoretical expectations for the dynamic thickening factor, which is always used to determine thickening factor for a certain mesh size. The main heat release rate zone couldn’t be thickened as expected. A new DTF model used for multi-step reaction mechanism was proposed. The results show that it can both predict the flame structure accurately and get the flame thickness as expected. © 201. Combustion Institute. All Rights Reserved.

Estimation of the radiological consequences including the calculation of radiation doses to the exposed population requires numerical evaluation of atmospheric radioactive releases from nuclear facilities under accidental scenarios for implementation of adequate protective and other response actions to prevent or minimize severe deterministic effects and reduce the probability of occurrence of stochastic effects. This paper reviews various state-of-the-art spatial scale atmospheric dispersion models, known as the ATDMs, designed to evaluate atmospheric transport, dispersion, and depositions of radionuclide emissions from release sources. The ATDMs (atmospheric transport, dispersion, and deposition models) reviewed in this paper are FLEXPART, CALPUFF, LADAS, RASCAL, RIMPUFF, and HotSpot. These ATDMs are increasingly applied to perform probabilistic radiological risk assessment, which is one of the IAEA safety requirements for site evaluation of new NPP, and the calculated doses can be used to establish EPZs, an underlying basis of emergency preparedness. The numerical approaches, modeling methodology, advantages, limitations, scope of applications, and research investigations performed using these models in radiological and other environmental impact assessments within their scope of applications are presented. GIS has been widely recognized as a technique applied to aid the modeling of pollutant dispersion and visualization of model outputs in a spatial context, among other benefits. In nuclear accident consequence evaluation, spatial data provides {1. information such as accident location, range of radiological contamination, population density, etc, which are very important. This demonstrates the high significance of GIS-ATDMs coupling. Therefore, an overview of the coupling of dispersion models with GIS is also highlighted. © 2025 Xi'an Jiaotong University
