Application and comparison of K-means and PCA based segmentation models for Alzheimer disease detection using MRI

Machine learning algorithms can be used to detect Alzheimer disease with RMI-images. One of the challenges of these algorithms is to clearly extract image features that show small variants of brain cells changes, which reveal the condition of dementia at the intermediate stages of mild cognitive impairment. In this article, we explore the abilities of two approaches to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease with MRI. In the first approach, after noise reduction and correction of alterations was conducted by a non-linear filter size 3*3, a kmeans algorithm is used for segmentation of cells showing white and grey matters of brain images. A Convolutional neural network (CNN) model is trained to indicate variations on these cells and the presence of Alzheimer Disease. The second approach performs image feature reduction using principal component analysis (PCA) to extract white and grey matters, and the cerebrospinal fluid as the three relevant features for Alzheimer diagnosis. A multilayer perceptron algorithm is trained to classify Alzheimer cases. Experiments are conducted on both approaches to compare accuracy and processing time using a real dataset of 602 images from the Alzheimer’s disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) of cognitively normal and Alzheimer’s disease patients. Results show that the accuracy can be enhanced when PCA is used to extract relevant features on RMI images;and with relatively low processing time. © The Author(s) 2024.

Cloud computing involves accessing and using computing resources, such as servers, storage, and software applications, over the Internet, enabling scalable access on demand. Cloud computing systems are becoming an essential platform for scientific applications. They enable task scheduling and IT resource allocation. When these resources are not enough to meet demand, planning techniques are necessary. We propose to apply an improved ACO algorithm for intelligent task scheduling and appropriate resource allocation in a cloud environment. This work proposes a modified version of the ACO algorithm that can quickly converge to the best solution to further optimize the total response time, the average response time and the total execution cost. The algorithm suggested based on artificial intelligence application of enhanced ACO is compared with the classical ACO algorithm using Cloudsim simulator. The results obtained after the experiments and simulation are very encouraging to adopt this technique. © (2025), (West University of Timisoara). All rights reserved.

Semantic segmentation is an important sub-task for many ***,pixel-level ground-truth labeling is costly,and there is a tendency to overfit to training data,thereby limiting the generalization *** domain adaptation can potentially address these problems by allowing systems trained on labelled datasets from the source domain(including less expensive synthetic domain)to be adapted to a novel target *** conventional approach involves automatic extraction and alignment of the representations of source and target domains *** limitation of this approach is that it tends to neglect the differences between classes:representations of certain classes can be more easily extracted and aligned between the source and target domains than others,limiting the adaptation over all ***,we address:this problem by introducing a Class-Conditional Domain Adaptation(CCDA)*** incorporates a class-conditional multi-scale discriminator and class-conditional losses for both segmentation and ***,they measure the segmentation,shift the domain in a classconditional manner,and equalize the loss over *** results demonstrate that the performance of our CCDA method matches,and in some cases,surpasses that of state-of-the-art methods.

QoE-Aware Volumetric Video Caching and Rendering for Mobile Extended Reality Services

In this paper, we propose a novel volumetric video caching and rendering approach for an edge-assisted extended reality (XR) system to enhance user quality of experience (QoE). Particularly, user QoE consists of visual quality and quality variation. Different quality of volumetric videos are required to be cached, rendered, and delivered to XR devices for different viewing distances within a time latency. Given the limited caching, computing, and communication resources on the edge server, we formulate a long-term user QoE maximization problem to jointly optimize video caching and rendering by considering user locations and viewing distances. To solve this problem, we first design an online optimization algorithm in which caching decisions are obtained using a regularization technique. We then develop a low-complexity binary search algorithm to determine optimal rendering quality. Extensive simulations are conducted to demonstrate that our proposed approach outperforms benchmark schemes by an average 46% improvement in terms of long-term user QoE. © 2014 IEEE.

Edge computing platforms enable application developers and content providers to provide context-aware services(such as service recommendations)using real-time wireless access network *** to recommend the most suitable candidate from these numerous available services is an urgent ***-through rate(CTR)prediction is a core task of traditional service ***,many existing service recommender systems do not exploit user mobility for prediction,particularly in an edge computing *** this paper,we propose a model named long and short-term user preferences modeling with a multi-interest network based on user *** uses a logarithmic network to capture multiple interests in different fields,enriching the representations of user short-term *** terms of long-term preferences,users'comprehensive preferences are extracted in different periods and are fused using a nonlocal *** experiments on three datasets demonstrate that our model relying on user mobility can substantially improve the accuracy of service recommendation in edge computing compared with the state-of-the-art models.

Nowadays,smart buildings rely on Internet of things(loT)technology derived from the cloud and fog computing paradigms to coordinate and collaborate between connected *** is characterized by low latency with a wider spread and geographically distributed nodes to support mobility,real-time interaction,and location-based *** provide optimum quality of user life in moderm buildings,we rely on a holistic Framework,designed in a way that decreases latency and improves energy saving and services efficiency with different *** EVent system Specification(DEVS)is a formalism used to describe simulation models in a modular *** this work,the sub-models of connected objects in the building are accurately and independently designed,and after installing them together,we easily get an integrated model which is subject to the fog computing *** results show that this new approach significantly,improves energy efficiency of buildings and reduces ***,with DEVS,we can easily add or remove sub-models to or from the overall model,allowing us to continually improve our designs.

Density Based Clustering Approach Combined with Fuzzy Logic for Elimination of Random Valued Impulse Noise

The reduction of impulse noise is crucial in processing pictures since it directly impacts the patterns of noise present. This paper proposes a two-step technique, known as DCIFF (DBSCAN clustering identified fuzzy filter), to effectively eliminate impulsive noise from digital images. The suggested DCIFF methodology employs the DBSCAN clustering algorithm to identify and classify noise. Subsequently, a noise reduction technique is presented, which relies on the principles of fuzzy reasoning. The density-based clustering approach DBSCAN is utilized to identify commonalities throughout all 5 × 5 sized windows that are created by centering each of the pixels in the picture. Next, to properly reduce noise, a sized 7 × 7 window is formed with the centre of each identified disturbed pixel. The non-noisy pixel intensities are multiplied by their triangle fuzzy membership values, and then the products are added together. The total result is then divided by the sum of the fuzzy membership of all the non-noisy pixels’ intensities. The outcome is utilized to eliminate the noise from the central pixel that is affected by noise. The DCIFF is assessed using standard image evaluation criteria for various pictures. On the Lena image modified by random valued impulsive noise at 80% noise density, DCIFF provided peak-signal-to-noise ratios (PSNR) of 25.86 dB and structural similarity indexes (SSIM) of 0.8429. In contrast to prior research on the same topic, the current study findings consistently demonstrate striking outcomes. © The Institution of Engineers (India) 2025.

Partitioned 2D Set-Pruning Segment Trees with Compressed Buckets for Multi-Dimensional Packet Classification

Multi-dimensional packet classification is one of the most important functions to support various services in next generation routers. Both the memory-efficient data structure to support larger rule tables and the hardware architecture to achieve a higher throughput are desired. In this paper, we propose a parallel and pipelined architecture called Set-Pruning Segment Trees with Buckets (SPSTwB) for multi-dimensional packet classification. SPSTwB significantly reduces rule duplication based on a novel partitioning scheme and an efficient bucket merging scheme. The key feature of our proposed architecture is that memory consumption is reduced significantly regardless of the characteristics of various rule tables. In addition, the logic complexity of each pipeline stage is simplified by not storing rule IDs and priorities and thus it can run at a high clock rate. The proposed scheme needs less than 20 bytes per rule for various 100 K rule tables generated by ClassBench. In addition, the proposed scheme supports fast incremental rule update. The proposed pipelined architecture can achieve a throughput of 134 Gbps from the implementation on Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGA device with dual-ported Block RAM. © The British computer Society 2024. This work provides a basis for studying energy management optimisation in power-split hybrid electric vehicles (PSHEVs) to reduce fuel consumption and increase powertrain efficiency by enforcing a strategy related to battery level and vehicle speed. Three modes were used to operate the vehicle to meet different situations related to available energy and desired speed. These are particularly abundance mode, ascetic mode and optimal mode. For this, a system was designed based on several sub-models written in the discrete EVent system (DEVS) specification. The vehicle's power train and control strategy models were created in the DEVSimPy environment, and a joint simulation was carried out from the composite sub models until the overall model is reached. Simulation results under several driving cycles showed that the proposed system improves the energy consumption of the vehicle in different operating modes of the engines and gives more opportunities to adopt electric motors in vehicle transmission. © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
