Studies of electronic effects in reduced dimensionality have become a frontier in nanoscience due to the exotic and highly tunable character of quantum phenomena. Recently, a new class of 2D ultrathin LnX2 metalloxenes composed of a triangular lattice of lanthanide ions (Ln) coupled with 2D-Xenes of silicene or germanene (X2) was introduced and studied with a particular focus on magnetic and transport properties. However, the electronic properties of metalloxenes and their effective functionalization remain mainly unexplored. Here, using a number of experimental and theoretical techniques, we trace the evolution of the electronic properties and magnetic ground state of metalloxenes triggered by external perturbations. We demonstrate that the band structure of LnX2 films can be uniquely modified by controlling the Xenes stacking, thickness, varying the rare-earth and host elements, and applying an external electric field. Our findings suggest new pathways to manipulate the electronic properties of 2D rare-earth magnets that can be adjusted for spintronics applications. © 2024 The Royal Society of Chemistry

This study addresses linear attacks on remote state estimation within the context of a constrained alarm rate. Smart sensors, which are equipped with local Kalman filters, transmit innovations instead of raw measurements through a wireless communication network. This transmission is vulnerable to malicious data interception and manipulation by attackers. The aim of this research is to identify the optimal attack strategy that degrades the system performance while adhering to stealthiness constraints. A notable innovation of this paper is the direct association of the attack's stealthiness with the alarm rate, diverging from traditional approaches that rely on the covariance of the innovation or the Kullback-Leibler divergence, which are conventional metrics that have been extensively explored in previous studies. Our findings reveal that the optimal attack strategy exhibits some structural characteristics in systems of low dimensions. The performance of the proposed attack strategy is demonstrated through numerical examples. © 2024 IEEE.

A magnetic skyrmion induced on a ferromagnetic topological insulator (TI) is a real-space manifestation of the chiral spin texture in the momentum space, and can be a carrier for information processing by manipulating it in tailored structures. Here, we fabricate a sandwich structure containing two layers of a self-assembled ferromagnetic septuple-layer TI, Mn(Bi1-xSbx)2Te4 (MnBST), separated by quintuple layers of TI, (Bi1-xSbx)2Te3 (BST), and observe skyrmions through the topological Hall effect in an intrinsic magnetic topological insulator for the first time. The thickness of BST spacer layer is crucial in controlling the coupling between the gapped topological surface states in the two MnBST layers to stabilize the skyrmion formation. The homogeneous, highly-ordered arrangement of the Mn atoms in the septuple-layer MnBST leads to a strong exchange interaction therein, which makes the skyrmions "soft magnetic". This would open an avenue towards a topologically robust rewritable magnetic memory. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we present a reverse conversion from a two-stage Residue Number System (RNS) to a Binary Number System (BNS) with a special set of level 1 modules {2 a1, 2 a2 - 1, ..., 2an - 1} and level 2 modules {2 ß1, 2 ß2 - 1, ..., 2 ß k - 1}. The proposed method is based on the Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT) with fractions and using a calculation method that uses constant multiplications to speed up calculations. This article discusses the simulation of FPGA reverse conversion to a two-stage RNS using the proposed method and the standard CRT using adders, their comparison of latency and hardware costs. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A theoretical study of the quality and the validity range of different numerical and analytical methods of calculating of the frequency shift in measurement using microcromechanical sensor is presented. This work considered a calculating method for natural frequency in comparison with experimentally measured oscillation frequencies of microcromechanical sensor immersed in air and/or viscous medium. The numerical methods for solving the equation of resonance oscillation of the console fixed on one side are considered for calculating the natural oscillation frequencies of standard AFM cantilevers. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

We investigate the electronic and spin structure of Pb atomic chains on a Si(100)−2×1 surface using first-principles calculations. We revealed that the electronic spectra of linear dimerized Pb chains with orientations perpendicular and parallel to the Si dimers are characterized by one-dimensional large Rashba spin splitting providing exclusive spin polarization of the carriers that makes these systems suitable for studying the spin-transport phenomena and realizing a tunable spin current. A buckled dimerized Pb chain with a parallel orientation was predicted to be an insulating Rashba system with a vortical spin texture and asymmetric charge distribution. In this paper we trace the origin of Rashba band anisotropy and its interplay with chain geometry. The Rashba parameters of the considered chains are compared with other well-known systems.

The development of scientific directions of mechanics as a result of research in analytical mechanics, space dynamics and applied mathematics is considered. The basic theorems of analytical dynamics were extended to mechanical systems of variable composition. The abstract concept of a point of variable mass is introduced in the form of a small area of space, endowed with mass, associated with the main body. The subject of consideration is a system of particles with constant masses, the composition of which varies. This allows one to take into account the change in mass and the internal movement of particles, leading to the creation of reactive forces.

The purpose of the work is to calculate unorganized emissions of dust and harmful gases into the atmosphere during blasting at the mining and processing plant quarry (on the example of OJSC “Mikhailovsky” in Zheleznogorsk, Kursk region). Based on the calculation of concentrations of harmful substances at the time of blasting, it was concluded that concentrations of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and dust in the quarry atmosphere are many times higher than MPC. This creates a critical situation for air pollution of the working zone. In the study of harmful emission control methods, the most effective option associated with the use of a surfactant as a tamping of blast holes has been chosen. In order to effectively control harmful emissions, an activity has been presented where surfactants are recommended as a tamping of blast holes.
