In this paper, a web-based course management system is introduced which allows teachers to manage course-related affairs such as, course announcement grade processing, and learning status of each student. The system also facilitates communication between teacher and student, and provides real time learning feedback messages in a real-time manner which allows students to check their own learning status and make necessary adjustments. At the end of the course, both students and teacher can pack their own portfolio files which contain score trends, lecturing content the course syllabus, discussion content, collected files, homework, self assessment, and teacher's comment. The system completely records every detail related to student's learning, then packs these details in an organized structure. Students may then carry their own portfolios to the next learning stage. This is the optimal way to evaluate student's learning progress and level. In order to improve accountability and reliability of portfolio files, this system adopts MD5 to construct an online verification mechanism.

X-ray is scattered and absorbed by tissues, such as fat, bone and internal organs. However, image processing for medical diagnosis, based on the scattering and absorption characteristics of these tissues in X-ray spectrum is not so much studied. In this paper, X-ray scattering and absorption in biomedical media are studied using FDTD method. As a result of computer simulation, the statistical properties of transmitted and scattered electric fields are presented numerically. The FDTD parallel computing for the analysis of big area is also shown.

The evolution of the embedded cores-based design paradigm in recent times has created numerous challenging problems for the test design community. To develop suitable test environment and appropriate test methodologies for digital cores-based system-on-chip (SOC) is a fascinating area of research today. This paper attempts to develop viable solution options to these problems based on cores constructed from ISCAS 85 combinational and ISCAS 89 sequential benchmark circuits. The wrapper that separates the core under test from other cores is assumed to be IEEE P1500-compliant. The cores and test access mechanism (TAM) are described in the paper using Verilog HDL, while TAM is implemented as a plain signal transport medium, being shared by all the cores in the SOC. The fault injection is done by a simulator that also generates the tests for the core. The fault simulation process is carried out after successful compilation of the cores, the individual core selection being done by the program running in the background.

In this paper, we present a novel interactive image retrieval technique using semi-supervised learning. Recently, Guan and Qiu [8, 9] have shown that by constructing a Bayesian Network where the nodes represent the (continuous) class membership scores and arcs represent the dependence relations of the data points, the (semi-supervised) classification problem can be formulated as a quadratic optimization problem;and by using the labeled data as linear constraints, the optimization problem yields a large, sparse system of linear equations which can be solved very efficiently using standard methods. In this work, we show that this semi-supervised learning method can be naturally adopted as a computational tool to incorporate users feedbacks for interactive image retrieval. We present experimental results to show the effectiveness of our new interactive image retrieval method. We also show that semi-supervised learning can have advantages over supervised and unsupervised learning in image retrieval applications.

The problem is ad-dressed using a variational approach on the space of measure valued functions. Due to the implicit form of the optimal solution, the question of existence of solution is crucial. This is formulated as a fixed point problem on a suitable locally convex topological vector space (consisting of functions with values in the space of finitely additive measures).
