New type of remote support system for handicapped persons is proposed in this paper. Body-Braille system is consisted of six small vibrators which have been used in cellular phones. And this system is put on the any part of human body. Supports method are similar to usual Braille, and the impaired persons acquire the communication or information about circumferences by reading the vibration patterns on the skin which are consisted of six on-off vibrations of small motors. This paper has shown the remote support system and experiment in which Body-Braille system and cellular phone are connected to realize its functions. The deaf-blind persons have cellular phone with small camera, and remote supporter can get the necessary information by receiving images from the phone, and then send recognition result to subject using Body-Braille. From the results of the experiment, proposed support system has been clarified to be effective.

Active Queue Management (AQM) is an effective method used in Internet routers for congestion control, and to achieve a tradeoff between link utilization and delay. The de facto standard, the Random Early Detection (RED) AQM scheme, and most of its variants use average queue length as a congestion indicator to trigger packet dropping. This paper proposes a novel AQM algorithm, called Self-tuning Proportional and Integral RED (SPI-RED), as an extension of RED. SPI-RED is based on a Self-tuning Proportional and Integral controller, which not only considers the average queue length at the current time point, but also takes into consideration the past average queue lengths during a round-trip time. Furthermore, we give theoretical analysis of the system stability and give guidelines for the selection of feedback gains for the TCP/RED system to stabilize the average queue length at a desirable level. Extensive simulations have been conducted with ns2. The simulation results have demonstrated that the proposed SPI-RED algorithm outperforms the existing AQM schemes in terms of drop probability and stability.

Shock wave data for several bio‐related materials have been obtained. Plane and steady shock waves have been induced by using a modest compressed gas gun facility. Shock pressure covered in this study ranges at least up to 1 GPa. In order to realize the sensitive detection of shock front in these materials in this relatively low pressure region, an optical method has been developed by our group. Optical prism was placed on the sample such that incident laser beam is totally reflected at the prism sample interface. Samples used in the experiment include gelatin with different initial density, NaCl aqueous solution, and finally chicken breast meat. Shock data obtained in the present study are compared with the shock Hugoniot curve for water. It is found that slope of the shock velocity‐particle velocity Hugoniot compression curve for all the materials tested is almost 2. While value of the intercept of the relationship, corresponding to the sound velocity, is apparently dependent on the material and ambient temperature.
