A game device that imitates a real object can provide a realistic experience. For example, a gun-type device and car-handle-type device can give players a realistic experience of shooting and driving, respectively. In our previous study, we proposed Physical e-Sports and developed extended reality con-tent that includes a bow-shaped controller device and gun-shaped controller devices. These two devices imitate a real bow or guns. The bow-shaped controller device consists of real bow components and sensors, enabling a player to feel the actual experiences of drawing and shooting. In this study, to improve the feeling of reality, we compared this bow-shaped controller device with a real bow by measuring a player’s motions and gaze directions and confirmed the differences between them. We also investigated the relations between the amount of force applied the string and strain with this device. By using these relations, we integrated a mechanism of reducing shooting force into this device and improved the environment of measuring this force by using the strain gauges. From these experiments, we discuss the potential of using this bow controller device in Physical e-Sports. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With the rapid development of wireless technologies, Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are becoming an important networking infrastructure due to their low cost and increased high speed wireless Internet connectivity. In our previous work, we implemented a hybrid simulation system based on PSO and HC called WMN-PSOHC. In this paper, we present the performance evaluation of WMNs by using WMN-PSOHC considering Constriction Method (CM) and Linearly Decreasing Vmax Method (LDVM). Simulation results show that a good performance is achieved for CM compared with LDVM. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this paper, a dual-band printed rectenna of compact size (38×24) mm2 has been designed and analyzed to work at GSM frequency of 900 MHz and WiFi frequency of 2.4 GHz for wireless power transmission. The purpose of this design is to harvest energy at two different frequencies to increase the probability of receiving power from ambient field. The antenna part of this rectenna is printed on FR4 substrate and has the shape of meander line with two arms for double-band operation. The rectifier part of this rectenna consisted of impedance matching network, AC-to-DC conversion circuit and a DC filter. The design and simulation results of this rectenna have been done with the help of CST 2019 and ADS 2018 software packages. At a received input power of -30 dBm and a load resistance of 1900 Ω, the maximum conversion efficiencies obtained by this rectenna at frequencies of 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz are found as 23% and 42% respectively.

Interactivity is the most significant feature of network data,especially in social *** network embedding methods have achieved remarkable results in learning network structure and node attributes,but do not pay attention to the multi-interaction between nodes,which limits the extraction and mining of potential deep interactions between *** tackle the problem,we propose a method called Multi-Interaction heterogeneous information Network Embedding(MINE).Firstly,we introduced the multi-interactions heterogeneous information network and extracted complex heterogeneous relation sequences by the multi-interaction extraction ***,we use a well-designed multi-relationship network fusion model based on the attention mechanism to fuse multiple interactional ***,applying a multitasking model makes the learned vector contain richer semantic relationships.A large number of practical experiments prove that our proposed method outperforms existing methods on multiple data sets.

Biopharma innovation trends during COVID-19 and beyond: an evidence from global partnerships and fundraising activities, 2011-2022

Background: Co-development alliances and capital-raising activities are essential supports for biopharmaceutical innovation. During the initial outbreak of the COVID-19, the level of these business activities has increased greatly. Yet the magnitude, direction, and duration of the trend remain ambiguous. Real-time real-world data are needed to inform strategic redirections and industrial policies. Methods: This observational study aims to characterize trends in global biopharma innovation activities throughout the global pandemic outbreak. Our extensive deal dataset is retrieved from the commercial database GlobalData (12,866 partnership deals and 32,250 fundraising deals announced between 2011 and 2022). We perform Chi-squared tests to examine the changes in qualitative deal attributes during and beyond the outbreak. Our deal-level sample is further aggregated into category-level panel data according to deal characteristics such as therapy area, molecule type, and development phase. We run a series of regressions to examine how the monthly investment amount raised in each category changed with the onset of the pandemic, controlling for the US Federal funds rate. Results: The temporary surge of partnership and capital-raising activities was associated with the increase in infectious disease-related deals. Academic and government institutions played an increased role in supporting COVID-related co-development partnerships in 2020, and biopharma ventures had been securing more investments in the capital market throughout 2020 and 2021. The partnership and investment boom did not last till the later pandemic in 2022. The most significant and enduring trend was the shifting focus toward discovery-phase investments. Our regression model reveals that the discovery-phase fundraising deals did not suffer from a bounce back in the late pandemic, consistent with a persistent focus on early innovation. Multi-modal representational learning aims to create models that can process and correlate information from multiple modalities. Different modalities can provide different complementary information, which improves the performance of multi-modal representation learning. However, most existing methods do not fully consider the data distribution of different modalities and require additional matching steps to produce the final feature representation. Second, they also do not fully exploit the consensus principle among different modalities. Based on the above two issues, we propose a novel method for learning a common latent representation through domain adaptation and consensus principle to solve these problems. Specifically, the informative and consistent representation is learned by minimizing the maximum mean discrepancy among the different modalities through domain adaptation, and the consensus principle is to maximize the consistency of the prediction results among the different modalities. Comprehensive experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms 10 traditional methods and 3 state-of-the-art methods on 10 challenging data sets. © 2022, The Authors. The Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are becoming an important networking infrastructure because they have many advantages such as low cost and increased high speed wireless Internet connectivity. In our previous work, we implemented a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based simulation system, called WMN-PSO, and a simulation system based on Genetic Algorithm (GA), called WMN-GA, for solving node placement problem in WMNs. Then, we implemented a hybrid simulation system based on PSO and distributed GA (DGA), called WMN-PSODGA. In this paper, we analyze the performance of WMNs using WMN-PSODGA simulation system considering Weibull and Chi-square client distributions. Simulation results show that a good performance is achieved for Chi-square distribution compared with the case of Weibull distribution. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This letter proposes a secure beamforming design for downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems utilizing fluid antenna systems (FAS). We consider a setup where a base station (BS) with M fluid antennas (FAs) communicates to a cell-center user (CU) and a cell-edge user (CEU), each with a FA. The CU is the intended recipient while the CEU is regarded as a potential eavesdropper. Our aim is to maximize the achievable secrecy rate by jointly optimizing the secure beamforming vectors and the positions of FAs. To tackle this, we adopt an alternating optimization (AO) algorithm that optimizes secure beamforming and the positions of the FAs iteratively while keeping the other variables fixed. Numerical results illustrate that when FAs meet NOMA, the proposed scheme greatly enhances the secrecy rate compared to conventional multiple-input single-output (MISO) fixed antenna NOMA systems and other benchmark schemes. © 2024, CC BY.

The performance of cooperative ambient backscatter communications (CABC) can be enhanced by employing reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) to assist backscatter transmitters. Since the RIS power consumption is a non-negligible issue, we consider a RIS assisted CABC system where the RIS with energy harvesting circuit can not only reflect signal but also harvest wireless energy. We study a transmission design problem to minimize the RIS power consumption with the quality of service constraints for both active and backscatter transmissions. The optimization problem is a mixed-integer non-convex programming problem which is NP-hard. To tackle it, an algorithm is proposed by employing the block coordinate descent, semidefinite relaxation and alternating direction method of multipliers techniques. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

Processing big data applications with optimistic genetic algorithm based association rule mining

In detecting the relationship between data elements and multiple levels of abstractions, multi-level association rule mining plays a key role. To address this problem in literature, we have some search schemes such as FP-growth and Apriori. These search schemes face utmost computational cost when applied in big data sets for searching association rules. A novel genetic-based scheme with key modernizations enhances searching multi-level association rules. It minimizes the over computational cost in the script. As a first keynote, to detail, multi-level application data sets as domain knowledge category trees are used. A special tree encoding representation has been proposed as a second keynote using a category tree to prepare an experimental multi-level association mining algorithm. As the final and critical design part, an optimized genetic algorithm has been submitted, which minimizes the search space extremely in association rule and reduces the computational cost. Genetic Algorithm operators similar selection, crossover also mutation have been applied on association rules to predict strong association rules. This proposed scheme is used in big data applications, especially for mining multi-level association rules.
