Mathematics can be used to introduce and explain events and occurrences that have a firmly rooted foundation of logic. This article is created to explain a simple mathematical trick related to cryptanalysis that has existed and allows us to improve upon it by modifying it with logic derived from computer coding and communications. Using error correction based on Hamming code, it is possible to obtain a value between 0-15 by answering yes or no questions about the provided cards. This paper will also explain how to add more cards to discover even a lie immediately and without error.

Offshore Software Maintenance Outsourcing (OSMO) is increasing by leaps and bounds. In offshore outsourcing, most of the highly-paid countries outsource software development and maintenance projects to such developing countries where skilled human resources are available at economical packages. The OSMO clients get quality-oriented services and OSMO vendors earn valuable foreign exchange if the OSMO process is executed successfully. But the existing literature advocates that all the OSMO business deals do not end successfully. The right combination of vendor and client plays a vital role. For a vendor, it is important to find a more suitable client among multiple options. The scope of the current paper is to find out such critical success factors which can help out OSMO vendor to select a more suitable OSMO client among many options. This practice will provide ease to OSMO vendors in the OSMO client selection and decision-making process to select a suitable client. The method used to conduct this study is the Literature Review (LR). The literature review found different critical success factors related to the research question. Some of these factors include the client's contract, the client's required team size, the domain of the required project, the size of the software maintenance project, etc. OSMO vendor organizations can use this information in the decision-making process to select more suitable OSMO clients for successful offshore business. This study also recommends the implementation of any suitable machine learning technique on the critical success factors (founded in the current study) in the decision-making process.

The Internet of Things (IoT), which provides open access to specified data subsets for the creation of a wide range of digital services, will be able to include many distinct and heterogeneous end systems transparently and seamlessly. One of our key environmental issues is the management of solid waste, with harmful impacts on society, besides upsetting the equilibrium of the ecosystem. One of the key issues of the contemporary period is identification, monitoring and management of garbage. A complex and burdensome procedure uses older methods for manually monitoring garbage in waste bins that use more human work, time and costs that are not compatible in any manner with current technology. This is a sophisticated way of automating trash management. A really interesting technology that will assist to keep cities clean is this IoT garbage monitoring system project. This system monitors the waste containers and provides information on the waste collected in the waste containers via a website. All information is also sent through this website to cars collecting waste.

Pre-caching popular videos at base stations (BSs) is a cost-effective way to significantly alleviate the backhaul pressure. With the video caching, the cache placement and the transmission strategy are intertwined with each other and jointly affect the system performance. Furthermore, the cache placement is updated in a much longer timescale than the transmission strategy. In this paper, the long-term transmission-aware cache placement and the short-term transmission strategy are designed to enhance the quality of experience (QoE) for the video streaming in cloud radio access networks (cloud-RANs). Specifically, consider a cache-enabled cloud-RAN, video contents are cached at BSs, and user requests are cooperatively satisfied by multiple BSs via the cooperative beamforming. To improve the weighted sum of users' QoE, the long-term transmission-aware caching problem in the caching stage and the short-term transmission problem in the delivery stage are respectively formulated, taking into account the backhaul capacity constraint, the transmission power constraint, and the storage size constraint. For the caching problem, the sample average approach is first used to approximate the long-term average QoE value. Then, cache placement strategies are devised in both centralized and distributed manner. For the transmission problem, the full-cooperative beamforming scheme is studied with the optimized cache placement, and an iterative algorithm is proposed. Simulation results show that our proposed transmission-aware cache placement and transmission strategies can achieve higher QoE performance than other cache placement and transmission strategies. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Emotion Equalization App: A First Study and Results

In recent years, there is an increasing trend of mental health issues in society. It is important to identify mental first aid strategies that can be applied at an early age, whether emotional issues have been diagnosed or have yet to be found. Music has tremendous potential impact on changing emotional states since it can distract listeners from rumination on negative thoughts and engage them in a moment of musical *** paper presents a new emotion equalization app that incorporates validated diagnosis tests (PHQ-9 and GAD-7) and an emotion measuring tool (SAM) for establishing a personalized therapy treatment using emotion rebalancing methods. By determining the emotional state of the user, songs are chosen and sequenced in a playlist using one of three proposed methods (consoling, relaxing, and uplifting) with a baseline method (random). With this systematic generation of playlists, the app can be used for personalized therapeutic treatment even for users without music background. In our experiment, the results showed positive changes in listeners’ valence levels while there was no significant change in arousal. Further, the relaxing and uplifting methods showed a significant effect on moving listeners from negative to more positive emotional states.

Artificial intelligence is programmed to copy the cognitive functions of human beings. It introduces a paradigm shift to health care, enabled by the growing availability of health data and rapid developments in analytical technology. Pneumonia is a disease that affects life due to bacterial or viral infections of the lungs. It can be life-threatening if not made at the correct time, and it is therefore important to diagnose early pneumonia. It is also one of the most dangerous babies and children’s diseases, for people older than 65 and people with health conditions or poor immune systems. The paper introduces a distinctive approach between healthy and patient pneumonia and distinguishes them by presenting signals that help picture-based approaches for diagnostic diseases among viral pneumonia and bacterial pneumonia.

Nowadays, database technology keeps evolving and available on various platforms. However, the use of heterogeneous database had a limitation because each database only provides a synchronization method for similar types of databases. Therefore, the utilization of various types of databases becoming a problem since the entire data among the databases need to be integrated. Previous research had examined heterogeneous database synchronization algorithms on mobile devices using message digest. Nevertheless, this algorithm requires a longer synchronization time because necessity to check the hash value of each data record. Thus, this study investigates the development of a multi-platform database synchronization algorithm using the Entity Relationship (ER) model. This model is based on the data relationships in each table. ER model implementation is executed by creating a temporary table that stores the primary key of each data record in a table that has changed or consist new data. The synchronization process flow is determined based on the type of transaction by selecting data from the source table based on the relationship from the temporary table data to the destination database. The results of this study indicates that the proposed ER model could be a new method in the heterogeneous database synchronization process and is able to shorten the synchronization process time.

Unattended detection in neural OCT image sequences of disease markers

In treatment, initial diagnosis and the treatment of illness, detection, and quantitative analysis of markers in medical images are important. Supervised computer education allows results to be identified and exploited a priori after the samples of instruction by experts are annotated. But due to the number of required examples of instruction and the restriction of the marker language to recognized individuals, monitoring does not scale well. In this proof of concept research, we suggest unattended recognition of anomalies as marker applicants in retinal optical coherent imagery without a prior description restriction. We classify and categorize marker applicants that often appear in the data and prove that these markers provide a predictive value for the disease detection role. A cautious qualitative study of the established data control indicators shows, in patients with early and late-age macular degeneration, how their quantifiable frequency fits our present knowledge of the diseases. A deep denoise auto encoder is trained in multi-scaled images, and any anomalies are detected in new data with the one-class support vector machine. The anomaly cluster distinguishes stable groups. With these markers, the precision of 81,40% is measured as safe, early AMD, and late AMD cases. The model obtained a region under the Receiver operator of hackney in a second binary classification experiment with publicly accessible safe and mid-Dexter datasets.

Anisotropy plays a critical role in governing the mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic, and optical properties of materials, influencing their behavior across diverse applications. Probing and quantifying this directional dependence is crucial for advancing materials science and biomedical research, as it provides a deeper understanding of structural orientations at the molecular level, encompassing both scientific and industrial benefits. This study introduces the "4+ Angle Polarization" widget, an innovative extension to the open-source Quasar platform (https://***/), tailored for advanced multiple-angle polarization analysis. This toolbox enables precise molecular orientation analysis of complex microspectroscopic datasets through a streamlined workflow. Using polarized Fourier transform infrared (p-FTIR) spectroscopy, we demonstrate its versatility across various sample types, including polylactic acid (PLA) organic crystals, murine cortical bone, and human osteons. By overcoming the limitations of traditional two-angle methods, the widget significantly enhances the accuracy of structural and orientational analysis. This novel analytical tool expands the potential of multiple-angle p-FTIR techniques into advanced characterization of structural anisotropy in heterogeneous systems, providing transformative insights for materials characterization, biomedical imaging and beyond. © 2025, CC BY.

Cryptanalysis and improvement of the measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution with hyper-encoding

Recently, Cui et al. [Sci. China Phys. 62, 110311 (2019)] proposed a measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (MDI-QKD) scheme based on high-dimensional encoding to increase the channel capacity of each individual photon. A secret key is shared among two legitimate parties via the help of a dishonest third-party (TP). They claimed that the proposed protocol can improve the drawback of the low-key generation rate that existed in the past MDI-QKD schemes. However, this study pointed out a loophole during the security check of TP. That is, the two legitimate participants merely use the corresponding qubit pairs that are both generated in the diagonal basis for the discussion, which leads to a potential attack that not only allows TP to avoid the security check but also creates partial inconsistency of key bits for both communicating sides. Fortunately, this problem can be fixed by a minor correction of the protocol. © World Scientific Publishing Company.
