Diamond based power electronic devices for aerospace application

Diamond properties should be easily compared to other wide band-gap semiconductor materials as diamond possesses unique properties. Diamond’s thermal conductivity of 22 W/cm K which is greater than many other materials. Effective electronic device operation could be easily obtained by single crystal diamond films as they promise better efficiency as compared to polycrystalline diamond, as it does not contain many grain boundaries, defects and stacking faults. Polycrystalline diamond films also have high demand in mechanical applications like cutting tools, polishing and grinding of optics etc. Diamond films could be easily grown with Chemical Vapour Deposition techniques (CVD) such as like plasma jet. Boron is present in higher concentration in thin films prepared with MWCVD, especially in (111)-oriented films making it holes carrying semiconductor where boron is the charge acceptor. For achieving superconductivity, it’s important for realizing concentration of carriers effectively high enough for inducing the insulator-to-metal transition. Diamond based devices for reducing the temperature of the devices’ dissipating heat is discussed here. Heat conducting substrate composed of diamond situated in the cooling device should be prepared in the thermal contact with heat dissipating devices which will spread out heat flows over a relatively large area during the operation. (Bi0.25Sb0.75)2Te3 based thermoelectric cooling material must be kept in close with the heat-conducting substrate which will pump heat on the application of electrical power into a second heat-conducting substrate which would be connected to the heat sink.

Natural fiber- reinforced composites are currently being researched for their selection and use in the industries spanning aerospace, automotive, ground transportation, and several other high- performance-critical end products. Two of the key reasons in favor for the selection and use of natural fibers are, their biodegradability coupled with an overall ease of availability that makes the production of engineered composites not only cost effective but also economically viable. However, the selection and use of natural fibers/matrix is curtailed primarily because of three competing drawbacks, namely (i) high moisture absorption, (ii) inferior mechanical properties, and (iii) poor interfacial bonding strength between fiber and matrix, when compared one-on-one with the synthetic fibers/matrix. Due to these reasons, natural fibers are often used in combination with synthetic fibers for engineering composites, so as to achieve a material that offers the possibility of improved performance at the desired level. In this research study, composite laminates with novolac resin and sisal/coir/E-glass fiber reinforcement (60:40) were fabricated using the hand lay-up method. The fabricated composite laminates were characterized for macromechanical properties, namely, tensile strength and water absorption test was conducted to explore the moisture absorption characteristics of composite laminates. Test results revealed the composite laminates with natural fibers/resins to possess many attributes in favor of their selection and use in structural components.

An IoT (Internet of Things) system for monitoring campus environmental parameters was successfully developed in this study. Various sensors were adopted in the front of IoT system for sensing air pollutants. The architecture of LongRange (LoRa) in Class C uses low-power and long-distance transmission technologies, which has been set up on the large campus, so that the terminal equipment can reach a balance between downlink latency and battery life, making it the best transmission communication protocol. In addition, this monitoring system uses the Petri net software tool to build a correct IoT platform based on the fundamental working processes, and to demonstrate the feasibility of the IoT system through simulation-based verification. Finally, the experimental results have shown that the IoT system for monitoring the campus environmental parameters achieves the goal of an acceptable data transmission success rate of more than 95%. Thus, it can facilitate the air quality trends for policy making as well as the hazardous prediction and prevention. © 2021, CC BY.

We provide an overview of the results on Hughes’ model for pedestrian movements available in the literature. The model consists of a nonlinear conservation law coupled with an eikonal equation. The main difficulty in developing a proper mathematical theory lies in the lack of regularity of the flux in the conservation law, which yields the possibility of non-classical shocks that are generated non-locally by the whole distribution of pedestrians. This is a possible reason behind the availability of existence results only on one-dimensional spatial domains, despite the model having a more natural setting in two spatial dimensions. After the first successful approaches to solving a regularised version of the model, researchers focused on the structure of the Riemann problem, which led to local-in-time existence results for Riemann-type data and paved the way for a WFT (Wave-Front Tracking) approach to the solution semigroup. In parallel, a DPA (Deterministic Particles Approximation) approach was developed in the spirit of follow-the-leader approximation results for scalar conservation laws. Beyond having proved to be powerful analytical tools, the WFT and the DPA approaches also led to interesting numerical results. However, only existence theorems on very specific classes of initial data (essentially ruling out non-classical shocks) have been available until very recently. A proper existence result using a DPA approach was proven not long ago in the case of a linear coupling with the density in the eikonal equation. Shortly after, a similar result was proven via a fixed point approach. We provide a detailed statement of the aforementioned results and sketch the main proofs. We also provide a brief overview of results that are related to Hughes’ model, such as the derivation of a dynamic version of the model via a mean-field game strategy, an alternative optimal control approach, and a localized version of the model. Since its fundamental inception from soap bubbles, Plateau's law has sparked extensive research in equilibrated states. However, most studies primarily relied on liquids, foams or cellular structures, whereas its applicability has yet to be explored in nano-scale solid films. Here, we observed a variant Plateau's law in networks of atomically thin domes made of solid two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). Discrete layer-dependent van der Waals (vdWs) interaction energies were experimentally and theoretically obtained for domes protruding in different TMD layers. Significant surface tension differences from layer-dependent vdWs interaction energies manifest in a variant of this fundamental law. Meanwhile, the remarkable mechanical properties, gas impermeability and interlayer vdWs interaction energy of TMD films enable domes and the networks to sustain high gas pressure and exist in a fundamentally variant nature for several years. Our findings pave the way towards exploring variant discretised states with applications in opto-electro-mechanical devices. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We propose a two-layer coding method for HDR images with noise bias compensation (NBC). Although the mean of image noise is assumed to be zero originally, it becomes nonzero (that is, noise bias is present) after tone mapping, because of the nonlinearity of tone mapping. In the conventional two-layer coding, the reconstructed LDR image is decoded using a lossy encoder of a base layer that includes noise;the noise is included in an HDR image that is inverse tone mapped from a reconstructed LDR image with noise bias. We aim to improve the quality of reconstructed HDR images by compensating for noise bias. NBC classifies pixels in a noisy image into several subsets according to the pixel value after tone mapping, and compensates for the pixel value in each subset with a compensation value determined in advance. The compensation values are determined by using all pixel values in the LDR image that is input to the base layer, in addition to those in the HDR image that is inversely tone mapped from the reconstructed LDR image. We perform NBC following inverse tone mapping for the reconstructed LDR image. The safe disposal of a large amount of waste glass (WG) in several countries has become a severe environmental issue. In contrast, concrete production consumes a large amount of natural resources and contributes to environmental greenhouse gas emissions. It was widely known that a lot of kinds of waste may be utilized rather than raw materials in the field of construction materials. However, for the wide use of waste in building construction, it is necessary to ensure that the characteristics of the resulting building materials are appropriate. Recycled glass waste is one of the most attractive waste materials that can be used to create sustainable concrete compounds. Therefore, researchers focus on the production of concrete and cement mortar in utilizing waste glass as an aggregate or as supplementary materials. In this article, the literature discussing the use of recycled glass waste in concrete as a partial or complete replacement for aggregates has been reviewed by focusing on the effect of recycled glass waste on the fresh and mechanical properties of concrete.

The Concept and idea behind our E-bike is that due to the increase in usage of automobiles in the world, in turn it increases global warming and heat in our world. On behalf of this, the Indian government took a mission that by 2030, the nation will be transformed to a 100 percent e-mobility country. To achieve this humongous mission, first we need to achieve the factors like customers acceptability and desirability and the major factor cost-efficiency. In 2021, 15.2 million units of engine-based bikes were sold in India and the previous year 21 million units were sold. So, these bike owners tend to use these bikes around 10 years from the purchase, this shatters India’s 2030 mission. To overcome this, we come up with an idea that if we can convert the conventional engine bikes to electric bikes then we can displace the engines into e-bikes, which can make stupendous improvement in e-mobility usage in our country. Our bike is totally built and designed using old bikes, which makes it cost efficient as well as it retains every grain feature of bikes.

A new automatic system is being developed to prevent illegal licensing and, as a result, accidents. This system may be built using the Bayesian logic classification technique and extraction algorithm. The recommended system must build a wireless sensor network and a multi-sensor fusion sensor network to identify outcomes. To assess test data from the Vehicle Data Recorder, map management must also be compared to the data source (VDR). A remote server handles the combined transmission of the map-based and multi-fusion sensors. With data mining for results, the Bayesian classification technique is implemented. As a gateway is utilized the CC2500 wireless module, the system proposed is the removal of the existing Indian driving licensing process. The test vehicle will be assigned for this applicant with the number of sensors connected in the car that communicate data to remote servers using wireless sensor networks. The results of the study are compared to earlier data by comparing the received data.

Object detection plays a vital role in the fields of computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence applications (such as FUSE-AI (E-healthcare MRI scan), face detection, people counting, and vehicle detection) to identify good and defective food products. In the field of artificial intelligence, target detection has been at its peak, but when it comes to detecting multiple targets in a single image or video file, there are indeed challenges. This article focuses on the improved K-nearest neighbor (MK-NN) algorithm for electronic medical care to realize intelligent medical services and applications. We introduced modifications to improve the efficiency of MK-NN, and a comparative analysis was performed to determine the best fuse target detection algorithm based on robustness, accuracy, and computational time. The comparative analysis is performed using four algorithms, namely, MK-NN, traditional K-NN, convolutional neural network, and backpropagation. Experimental results show that the improved K-NN algorithm is the best model in terms of robustness, accuracy, and computational time. © 2021 Ijaz Ahmad et al.
