The radiative properties of atoms are inherently linked to their surrounding environment. Placing an electromagnetic resonator around atoms can enhance spontaneous emission, as shown by Purcell in the 1940s. This approach is now routinely used in quantum computing and communication to channel photons emitted by atoms into well-defined modes and control atom-photon interactions. For solid-state artificial atoms, such as color-centers, the host lattice introduces an acoustic environment, allowing excited atoms to relax by emitting phonons. Here we observe the acoustic Purcell effect by constructing a specially engineered, microwave-frequency nanomechanical resonator around a color-center spin qubit in diamond. Using a co-localized optical mode of the structure that strongly couples to the color-center’s excited state, we perform single-photon-level laser spectroscopy at milliKelvin temperatures and observe ten-fold faster spin relaxation when the spin qubit is tuned into resonance with a 12 GHz acoustic mode. Additionally, we use the color-center as an atomic-scale probe to measure the broadband phonon spectrum of the nanostructure up to a frequency of 28 GHz. Our work establishes a new regime of control for quantum defects in solids and paves the way for interconnects between atomic-scale quantum memories and qubits encoded in acoustic and superconducting devices. © 2025, CC BY.

information on cyber-related crimes, incidents, and conflicts is abundantly available in numerous open online sources. However, processing the large volumes and streams of data is a challenging task for the analysts and experts, and entails the need for newer methods and techniques. In this article we present and implement a novel knowledge graph and knowledge mining framework for extracting the relevant information from free-form text about incidents in the cyberdomain. The framework includes a machine learning based pipeline for generating graphs of organizations, countries, industries, products and attackers with a non-technical cyber-ontology. The extracted knowledge graph is utilized to estimate the incidence of cyberattacks on a given graph configuration. We use publicly available collections of real cyber-incident reports to test the efficacy of our methods. The knowledge extraction is found to be sufficiently accurate, and the graph-based threat estimation demonstrates a level of correlation with the actual records of attacks. In practical use, an analyst utilizing the presented framework can infer additional information from the current cyber-landscape in terms of risk to various entities and propagation of the risk heuristic between industries and countries. © 2021, CC BY.

ShiftQuant: Towards Accurate and Efficient Sub-8-Bit Integer Training

Neural network training is a memory- and compute-intensive task. Quantization, which enables low-bitwidth formats in training, can significantly mitigate the workload. To reduce quantization error, recent methods have developed new data formats and additional pre-processing operations on quantizers. However, it remains quite challenging to achieve high accuracy and efficiency simultaneously. In this paper, we explore sub-8-bit integer training from its essence of gradient descent optimization. Our integer training framework includes two components: ShiftQuant to realize accurate gradient estimation, and L1 normalization to smoothen the loss landscape. ShiftQuant attains performance that approaches the theoretical upper bound of group quantization. Furthermore, it liberates group quantization from inefficient memory rearrangement. The L1 normalization facilitates the implementation of fully quantized normalization layers with impressive convergence accuracy. Our method frees sub-8-bit integer training from pre-processing and supports general devices. This framework achieves negligible accuracy loss across various neural networks and tasks (0.92% on 4-bit ResNets, 0.61% on 6-bit Transformers). The prototypical implementation of ShiftQuant achieves more than 1.85×/15.3% performance improvement on CPU/GPU compared to its FP16 counterparts, and 33.9% resource consumption reduction on FPGA than the FP16 counterparts. The proposed fully-quantized L1 normalization layers achieve more than 35.54% improvement in throughout on CPU compared to traditional L2 normalization layers. Antenna arrays have a long history of more than 100 years and have evolved closely with the development of electronic and information technologies, playing an indispensable role in wireless communications and radar. With the rapid development of electronic and information technologies, the demand for all-time, all-domain, and full-space network services has exploded, and new communication requirements have been put forward on various space/air/ground platforms. To meet the ever increasing requirements of the future sixth generation (6G) wireless communications, such as high capacity, wide coverage, low latency, and strong robustness, it is promising to employ different types of antenna arrays (e.g., phased arrays, digital arrays, and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, etc.) with various beamforming technologies (e.g., analog beamforming, digital beamforming, hybrid beamforming, and passive beamforming, etc.) in space/air/ground communication networks, bringing in advantages such as considerable antenna gains, multiplexing gains, and diversity gains. However, enabling antenna array for space/air/ground communication networks poses specific, distinctive and tricky challenges, which has aroused extensive research attention. This paper aims to overview the field of antenna array enabled space/air/ground communications and networking. The technical potentials and challenges of antenna array enabled space/air/ground communications and networking are presented first. Subsequently, the antenna array structures and designs are discussed. We then discuss various emerging technologies facilitated by antenna arrays to meet the new communication requirements of space/air/ground communication systems. Enabled by these emerging technologies, the distinct characteristics, challenges, and solutions for space communications, airborne communications, and ground communications are reviewed. Quantum contextuality is one of the most recognized resources in quantum communication and computing scenarios. We provide a new quantifier of this resource, the rank of contextuality (RC). We define RC as the minimum number of non-contextual behaviors that are needed to simulate a contextual behavior. We show that the logarithm of RC is a natural contextuality measure satisfying several properties considered in the spirit of the resource-theoretic approach. The properties include faithfulness, monotonicity, and additivity under tensor product. We also give examples of how to construct contextual behaviors with an arbitrary value of RC exhibiting a natural connection between this quantifier and the arboricity of an underlying hypergraph. We also discuss exemplary areas of research in which the new measure appears as a natural quantifier. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Simulation of dynamic stability performance of traffic safety bridge tower detector system

The study is to accurately simulate the actual motion of the bridge tower detector to provide a virtuous method for the bridge safety detection process. This paper takes the bridge tower detector as the research object and used UG three-dimensional modeling software to establish a 3D solid model of the virtual prototype of the bridge tower detector. The model is imported into the Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems (ADAMS) environment through Parasolid format to verify the accuracy of the data transmitted. On the premise of referring to similar studies, combining the actual situation of the bridge tower detector studied, the macro function provided by ADAMS is used to establish the wire rope system model of the bridge tower detector. In the process of simulating the vibration of the bridge tower detector, there has been vibration throughout the operating phase. The large fluctuations due to system instability at start-up were ignored which almost fluctuated between-250mm/s2 to 250mm/s2 acceleration. The fluctuations show periodic changes, and a large fluctuation occurs about every 7 seconds, which is directly related to the characteristics of the rope. In the process of simulating the bridge tower detector attitude, the rotation angle of the detector relative to the center of mass coordinates in the direction of roll degree of freedom fluctuates between 0.01° to 0.05°. The angular velocity varies between-0.025deg/s and 0.025deg/s, which is almost negligible. The designed bridge tower detector has a decent overall operating condition and can encounter the requirements for future studies. This study can provide theoretical support for the actual operation of the bridge tower detector. © 2020, Cefin Publishing House. All rights reserved.

Efficient Contact Tracing for pandemics using blockchain

Blockchain technologies have been benefiting many industries by being decentralized, secure and confidential. They offer great potential in pandemic impacted scenarios as well. Contact tracing helps to mitigate the transmission of disease by alerting people who may have been exposed so they can act on time to protect themselves. Contact tracing systems face some challenges related to issues of medical privacy, data security and transparency. Multiple researches show concern that contact tracing discourages people to seek medication because of the fear of loss of data, subsequent stigma, discrimination, or abuse. In this paper, we discuss how contact tracing can be improved using blockchain technology and could be able to solve these issues. The aim of our proposed system would be to reduce the impact of pandemic, to implement this merger of the blockchains and the Contact tracing app and to ensure user privacy and avoid data misuse by incorporating a symmetric key cryptographic mechanism. To tackle the scalability related issues of Blockchain this framework uses IPFS, a distributed file storage system also known as Interplanetary File System. This blockchain based solution system will enhance contact tracing by making it more stable, secure, performant, highly useable and above all effective in the fight against any pandemic. © 2021 The Authors

Air pollution is the major level of environmental pollution which affects all the living beings health and atmospheric condition. In which it is a major challenging issue today's scenario. Air pollution leads to adverse effects on climate, ecosystem and living things including human, animals and plants etc,. The Atmospheric air is getting polluted by the industry, power plants, vehicle emission and many sources releasing the unwanted toxic, harmful gases and particulate matter into the atmosphere. This Particulate matter is one of the major sources for the contribution of increase in air pollution in the atmosphere. Such particulate matters create a serious requirement for monitoring, measuring and analysis of real-time air quality condition in order that appropriate resolutions are often taken during a period of time. This paper presents a real-time standalone solution for monitoring the air pollution level which includes various parameters: PM (Particulate Matters) 2.5, CO (Carbon Monoxide), CO2 (Carbon dioxide), air pressure, humidity and atmospheric temperature. The Internet of Things (IoT) is plays vital role in monitoring the pollution level in the atmosphere. IoT mingle with cloud computing gives a completely unique way for management of data from different sensors were collected and transmitted to the low power, a low-cost ARM Processor which act as a minicomputer based on Raspberry pi all the input from the various sensors are combined and compared to the standard level, when the variation is more than the standard it will inform the individual and also alert the user. Pollution in India has been increasing year by year and most of the states are suffering severely from it. So this system monitors pollution and updates pollution levels from all over the areas within the city in a real-time manner.

Monitoring ground deformation of Sinabung volcano eruption 2018-2019 using DInSAR technique and GPS data

Sinabung Volcano is one of the active volcanoes located in Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province, It is a strato-type volcano with an altitude of 2,460 m that has been active since 2010. Monitoring of volcano activity through deformation methods can be known through the process of monitoring inflation and deflation due to changes in pressure from within the volcano. Deformation that occurs at any point on the earth’s surface can occur significantly or steadily over a period of time. In this study, the Differential Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) technique uses sentinel 1A imagery to see widespread deformation and GPS data to determine the phenomenon of deformation at GPS observation points on Mount Sinabung every month from 2018 to 2019. Deformation on Mount Sinabung using DInSAR deflation every month with a value of -40 centimeters to 20 centimeters with inflation in December 2018. Meanwhile, observations of Sinabung Volcano using GPS from January 2018 to April 2019 experienced three times inflation before the eruption and experienced three times deflation after the eruption. Sinabung Volcano observations after no dominant eruption experienced deflation. Sinabung Volcano experienced three eruptions caused by volcanic activity and other earthquakes, including tornillo earthquakes, low frequency, fall, hot clouds and gusts.
