In this paper, we consider a secrecy wireless-powered cognitive radio network, where an energy harvesting secondary system can share the spectrum of the primary system by assisting its transmission. In particular, we focus on the secure information transmission for the secondary system when an eavesdropper is existed to intercept the secondary user’s confidential information. Closed-form analytical expressions of primary outage probability, secondary secrecy outage probability (SOP) and the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity (PNSC) are derived. We also aim to joint design optimal time-switching ratio and power-splitting coefficient for maximizing the secondary secrecy outage probability under primary requirement constraint. To solve this non-convex problem, we prove the biconvexity of optimization problem and then develop a corresponding algorithm to solve that optimization problem. Numerical results show that our proposed transmission scheme can provide greater secure information transmission for secondary system and guarantee the outage performance for primary system. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Multi fractal features along with empirical wavelet transform for detecting glaucoma

The main objective of this paper is to look further into the prospect of retinal image analysis aiming for the detection and tracing of glaucoma. The computer-based component analysis entails the use of image processing techniques in order to pre-process, identify and segment the region of interest, feature extraction as well as classification from the data-set images. The structural deformation of the optic disc and cup parts, one of the primary signs of glaucoma, necessitates high specificity in the segmentation procedure. As a solution to this issue, multi-fractal features as a non-morphological aspect are obtained in the proposed method from the enhanced optic disc area. Furthermore, the extracted image is decomposed using the Empirical Wavelet Transform to acquire different bands sub images. Subsequently, multifractal features where extracted. The resultant features are classified using a variety of classifiers. Among (Least Squares Support Vector Machine, Naive Bayes, Logistic Regression classifiers) Least Square Support Vector Machine outperforms all classifiers in terms of output. The proposed method has been investigated using different data-sets which includes regular and glaucoma images. Using Least Squares Support Vector, this proposed approach achieves a sensitivity of 86.71 percent in classifying glaucoma images and total accuracy of 89.94 percent.

Social-economic assessment of valorization of faecal sludge into value-added products: Case study of selected products in Johannesburg metropolis

Faecal valorization is one of the viable solutions to the issue of inadequate sanitation because it encourages investment in sanitation systems. Despite the demonstration of production of value-added products from faecal sludge, information of socio-economic assessment of these products which could pave the way for their commercialization is very scarce. In this study, socio-economic assessment of some selected value-added products such as; crops treated with fertilizer derived from human waste, meat from animals fed with feed derived from human waste, energy from the combustion of products derived from human waste (biogas) was evaluated within Johannesburg metropolis (Wits University and its environs). Estimates developed from a quantitative review of existing literature demonstrated high potential revenues for products from faecal valorization and associated end products. The estimates were developed through examining current prices and consumption patterns in South Africa. Questionnaires were distributed at the University of Witwatersrand and its environs, posing as a case study of Johannesburg, in order to determine consumer interest in end products and the effect of different incentives on interest level. Statistical analysis was used to analyze the collected data due to sample size and controlling for factors such as age, sex and education level, the study mitigated sample bias. The analysis was conducted using repeated measure AN0VA testing and Tukey HSD testing. The interest level of the end product of faecal sludge was quantified using a 5- point Likert scale while a regression model was generated to understand which among the variables explored in this study were significant in predicting the participant's interest level. Analysis of the results reveals that there is demonstrated interest in products from valorized faecal sludge with 5I% of participants willing to consume crops fertilized with faecal sludge, and 43% of participants willing to consume meat

The self-standing computers embodies a distributed system, intertwined by a concatenated web associate degreed endowing the software of districuted system. The hardware fragment of distributed system with remodelling the size of some workstations integrated by one native space network with bazillions of computers twinned with multifold wide area networks. The potential of distributed system is unveiled which supports the trade-off of reliability and cost buttoned up with comprehensive search mechanisms. The diversified attributes like the reliability of execution and reliability, price of execution and communication are the principal components and portrayed in matrices, explicitely the CRM(,), ERM(,), CCM(,), electronic welfare(,). Reorientation and conversion of these matrices is consistant with the conjucted tasks. Every task fusion evaluates the reliability of the distributed computer contiguous with the execution cost as well as the communication cost. The optimum indisputable response of distributed computing system is bagged when the reliability aspect is modulated for all the blends of tasks. A live of elongated performance is achieved finally beyond shadow of doubt.

Semantic relations play an important role in natural semantic understanding. The sentiment Semantic Dictionary is the basis of sentiment analysis research. This paper uses Modern Chinese Dictionary and baidu interpretation from the Internet as the knowledge corpus. By analyzing the knowledge structure of the corpus, we define different rules to automatically extract the semantic relationship of emotional words. The concept of fine - grained division of emotional intensity and semantic similarity is introduced. The emotional similarity is divided into four levels based on different rules. The dictionary of negative words and degree adverbs are constructed and the degree of adverbs is divided into different levels. The degree of adverbs and negative words in front of the emotional words are used to determine the strength of the emotional words. The method of random selection and manual verification is used for evaluation. The accuracy of synonymous relationship is over 90%, and the availability is high. There is almost no error in the emotional strength relationship, but due to rule restrictions, there are few words that extract intensity levels. © 2018 IEEE.

Efficient spectrum sharing using femtocells for wireless networks

Cellular phones face issues of low signal power and reduced call quality when intended to use in the interior environment. Though the traditional method of using distributed antenna systems, somehow overcomes this issue but has many limitations too. As a result, this paper suggested a model that address the shortcomings of the previously described method by implementing a wireless framework to curb the reduced signal quality in indoor communication. In the proposed protocol, we have designed a compact, low-power cellular base station called Femtocells, which helps service providers or base stations to extend indoor service coverage and provide better signal quality. This can be used in both residential and enterprise areas. These cellular access points provide communication between the local Femtocells are essentially a form of the cellular access point that provides communication between the mobile phones and internet. The algorithm used behind this is AODV Routing Protocol and it operates in two different phases: Route Discovery and Route maintenance mechanism. The primary task of femtocells is to allocate the vacant spectrum to its users from the main base station by using the cognitive radio technology. Thus, the users can communicate efficiently without any drop calls even when the signal strength is very less as femtocells effectively extend the cell coverage and capacity. When compared to Distributed Antenna System, the proposed technique is completely wireless, low cost and guarantees signal strength to a greater extend.

Photonic technologies continue to drive the quest for new optical materials with unprecedented responses. A major frontier in this field is the exploration of nonlocal (spatially dispersive) materials, going beyond the local, wavevector-independent assumption traditionally adopted in optical material modeling. The growing interest in plasmonic, polaritonic, and quantum materials has revealed naturally occurring nonlocalities, emphasizing the need for more accurate models to predict and design their optical responses. This has major implications also for topological, nonreciprocal, and time-varying systems based on these material platforms. Beyond natural materials, artificially structured materials—metamaterials and metasurfaces—can provide even stronger and engineered nonlocal effects, emerging from long-range interactions or multipolar effects. This is a rapidly expanding area in the field of photonic metamaterials, with open frontiers yet to be explored. In metasurfaces, in particular, nonlocality engineering has emerged as a powerful tool for designing strongly wavevector-dependent responses, enabling enhanced wavefront control, spatial compression, multifunctional devices, and wave-based computing. Furthermore, nonlocality and related concepts play a critical role in defining the ultimate limits of what is possible in optics, photonics, and wave physics. This Roadmap aims to survey the most exciting developments in nonlocal photonic materials and metamaterials, highlight new opportunities and open challenges, and chart new pathways that will drive this emerging field forward—toward new scientific discoveries and technological *** by Optica Publishing Group under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License . Fabrication of ZnO – Carbonized cotton yarn derived hierarchical porous active carbon flexible electrodes

This work mainly focuses on the development of a novel type of chemically activated electrodes from the cotton yarn by carbonization and chemical activation. Chemical activation is employed in order to obtain high specific capacitance, energy and power density. The zinc oxide was prepared by the sol – gel method and the pH should be in the range of 9 and 11. ZnO/CCY electrode is prepared and it was stirred with a magnetic stirrer. The performance of the electrode is evaluated using aqueous electrolyte at various current densities and scan rate. The sample which was prepared electrochemically characterized using CV, GCD and EIS. This paper reports the development of highly flexible, less weight, and electrically conductive ZnO/CCY electrode with an electrochemical specific capacitance of 10.06 F g−1 at 150 mV s−1. The ZnO powders were evenly developed over the carbonized cotton yarn. The porous nanostructure presented in ZnO powder presented enough potential electro-active sites. Additionally, it offered the good electrolyte adsorption. The well-developed ZnO/CCY fiber electrode showed enhanced electrochemical performance and stability from the analysis of CV, GCD and EIS. From the results, the fabricated flexible ZnO/CCY electrode can provide impending applications in the development of cable-type devices and next generation electrochemical supercapacitors.

An alternative source is growing in popularity with increasing global energy use and perceivable environmental degradation everywhere in the universe. The growth of wind farms necessitates system stability analysis, which incorporates dynamical distributed generation models. Doubly fed induction machines are widely used in the context of turbines of power higher than 1MW. However, direct-drive wind turbines that use synchronous generator principles have gained significant market penetration. This investigation implements a synchronous generator model using a frequency-based matrix converter with the assistance of an SVPWM method, which measures stator as grid voltage/current and analyses total THD. Converting the fluctuating voltages to something like a stable value using a frequency-based method is done with a matrix converter.

Gate-defined quantum dots are a promising candidate system for realizing scalable, coupled qubit systems and serving as a fundamental building block for quantum computers. However, presentday quantum dot devices suffer from imperfections that must be accounted for, which hinders the characterization, tuning, and operation process. Moreover, with an increasing number of quantum dot qubits, the relevant parameter space grows sufficiently to make heuristic control infeasible. Thus, it is imperative that reliable and scalable autonomous tuning approaches are developed. This meeting report outlines current challenges in automating quantum dot device tuning and operation with a particular focus on datasets, benchmarking, and standardization. We also present insights and ideas put forward by the quantum dot community on how to overcome them. We aim to provide guidance and inspiration to researchers invested in automation efforts.
