Effect of Intelligent Multi-Association in Civil Aircraft-Augmented SAGIN

Although 5G networks have gradually commercialized, many scenarios like emergency areas and remote regions still exist with vast communication problems. In this paper, we provide a detailed analysis of civil-aircraft augmented space-air-ground integrated networks (CAA-SAGIN), where the user's association strategy can be determined intelligently. First, we discuss the influence of the spatial distribution of civil aircrafts (CAs) and satellites on the Rician factor. Then, we provide a novel and simple expression of moment-generating functions related to small-fading variables. With massive visible access points (APs), we combine two user-centric connectivity methods, i.e., multiple resource blocks in a single AP (MRB-SA) and collaborative connectivity in multiple APs (CC-MA), and each segment's ergodic capacity and coverage probability are investigated respectively. The numerical results demonstrate that CA networks can provide similar coverage and capacity performance as satellite networks in the given range. The advantages of introducing CAs to the satellite-terrestrial integrated networks are significant under the combined connectivity methods. This paper quantitatively proves CA networks' benefits in capacity and coverage and lays a theoretical foundation for CAA-SAGIN. © 2015 IEEE.

Interpretation of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals can be complicated by obfuscating artifacts. Artifact detection plays an important role in the observation and analysis of EEG signals. Spatial information contained in the placement of the electrodes can be exploited to accurately detect artifacts. However, when fewer electrodes are used, less spatial information is available, making it harder to detect artifacts. In this study, we investigate the performance of a deep learning algorithm, CNN-LSTM, on several channel configurations. Each configuration was designed to minimize the amount of spatial information lost compared to a standard 22-channel EEG. Systems using a reduced number of channels ranging from 8 to 20 achieved sensitivities between 33% and 37% with false alarms in the range of [38, 50] per 24 hours. False alarms increased dramatically (e.g., over 300 per 24 hours) when the number of channels was further reduced. Baseline performance of a system that used all 22 channels was 39% sensitivity with 23 false alarms. Since the 22-channel system was the only system that included referential channels, the rapid increase in the false alarm rate as the number of channels was reduced underscores the importance of retaining referential channels for artifact reduction. This cautionary result is important because one of the biggest differences between various types of EEGs administered is the type of referential channel used. © 2024 IEEE.

To help determine in what ways virtual reality(VR)technologies may benefit reservoir engineering workflows,we conducted a usability study on a prototype VR tool for performing reservoir model analysis *** leveraging the strengths of VR technologies,this tool’s aim is to help advance reservoir analysis workflows beyond conventional methods by improving how one understands,analyzes,and interacts with reservoir model *** evaluate our tool’s VR approach to this,the study presented herein was conducted with reservoir engineering experts who used the VR tool to perform three common reservoir model analysis tasks:the spatial filtering of model cells using movable planes,the cross-comparison of multiple models,and well path *** study found that accomplishing these tasks with the VR tool was generally regarded as easier,quicker,more effective,and more intuitive than traditional model analysis software while maintaining a feeling of low task workload on ***,participants provided positive feedback regarding their experience with using VR to perform reservoir engineering work tasks,and in general,it was found to improve multi-model cross-analysis and rough object manipulation in *** indicates the potential for VR to be better than conventional means for some work tasks and participants also expressed they could see it best utilized as an addition to current software in their reservoir model analysis *** were,however,some concerns voiced when considering the full adoption of VR into their work that would be best first addressed before this took place.

Cramér-Rao bounds of near-field positioning based on electromagnetic propagation model

The adoption of large-scale antenna arrays at high-frequency bands is widely envisioned in the beyond 5G wireless networks. This leads to the near-field regime where the wavefront is no longer planar but spherical, bringing new opportunities and challenges for communications and positioning. In this article, we improve the near-field positioning technology from the classical spherical wavefront model (SWM) to the more accurate and true electromagnetic propagation model (EPM). A generic near-field positioning model with different observation capabilities for three electric field types (vector, scalar, and overall scalar electric field) is developed based on the complete EPM. For these three observed electric field types, the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) is adopted to evaluate the achievable estimation accuracy. The expressions of the CRBs for different electric field observations are derived by combining electromagnetic propagation concepts with estimation theory. Closed-form expressions can be further obtained as the terminal is assumed to be on the central perpendicular line (CPL) of the receiving antenna surface. Moreover, the above discussions are extended to the system with multiple receiving antennas. In this case, the CRBs using various electric field types are derived and the effect of different numbers of receiving antennas is deeply investigated. Numerical results are provided to quantify the CRBs and validate the analytical results. Also, the impact of different system parameters, including electric field type, wavelength, size of the receiving antenna, and number of antennas, is evaluated. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

In today's world, interconnected Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANET) and intelligent transportation systems have become more popular. Although IoV can bring many benefits for the smart cities and provide comforts for the passengers, however, the increasing needs for keeping the QoS and QoE at an acceptable level in time sensitive applications seems crucial and needs to be investigated deeply. Also, allocating the right number of resources to avoid congestions and fill the deficiencies in a distributed manner is a challenging issue. So, with the increase in users, attention must be given to Quality of Service (QoS) and resource allocation. As the vehicle network provides information to provide safety, comfort, and entertainment to drivers and passengers, they are one of the most compelling research topics in intelligent transportation systems. TDMA protocol is used in this study to increase the efficiency of the network and the quality of service it provides. To solve the synchronization problem, the Markov method predicts the size of slots and frames. The scenario field is used in the Markov application section to better predict TDMA gaps on solving the synchronization problem. Accordingly, the higher the quality of service, the lower the latency of the network, and the better the allocation of resources. Optimizing allocation and quality of service is further motivated by reducing collision between packets. In terms of its implementation, this method is divided into two components, the first being the database proposal for constructing the Markov matrix and the second being the simulation on VanetMobisim and implementation of the network in NS2. The proposed method performed better in different scenarios in terms of computational complexity, PDF, latency, and overhead, as shown in the results section. © 2000-2011 IEEE.

Data is growing exponentially at a faster rate with the growing population. Today, we are involved in building models to predict several diseases and cancer is one of the major diseases which requires a model to predict the disease at an early stage. Most of time, cancer is diagnosed at the later stage, i.e., stage 4. Diagnosing cancer at stage 1 can increase the survival rate of the patient by 85%. Hence the goal of the article is to predict cancer during stage 1 itself. Vehicle license plates (LPs) detection and recognition is a fundamental technique in computer vision that plays a crucial role to extract, localize, and authenticate the information of a vehicle. This paper presents an efficient method for Bangla LPs recognition and vehicle authentication using edge analysis and pattern matching algorithm in real-time nature. This method performs four modules as: preprocessing, license plate identification, character recognition, vehicle authentication. A multi-step preprocessing technique has been applied to extract and understand the potential information in case of any uneven images. To identify edge connectivity and uniformity, Canny edge detector provides more promising in contour analysis and character localization. The segmented characters are converted into texts and verified using the pattern matching algorithm by a predefined database. For this research, a database consisting of 3000 automobile license plate photos captured under different climatic circumstances has been compiled. Additionally, we have curated two additional databases consisting of templates for recognition and registered automobiles for the purpose of authentication. The proposed model can achieve accuracy of 96% in LPs detection, 99% in character recognition, and 100% in vehicle authentication by extracted texts from LPs. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Growing deployments of ultra fast charging stations (XFCS) are putting a stress on the existing line-frequency transformer (LFT)-based medium voltage (MV) grid due to the high charging demands of exponentially growing electric vehicles (EV). The conventional LFT occupies a large space in the XFCS installation which introduces challenges in facilitating the XFCS infrastructure. As a result, solid-state transformer (SST)-based XFCS are being developed which can be directly connected to the MV grid and several advantages over LFT-based systems such as compactness, intelligence and availability of the DC link to connect renewable energy sources and storage system can be realized. As such, a detailed analysis of current developments in SST-based XFCS is presented and compared with one another in this paper. The challenges associated with the configurations are examined and direction for future research is identified. © 2023 IEEE.

The demodulation reference signal of the 5G Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) waveform has been designed for supporting Minimum Mean-Square Error-Interference Rejection Combining (MMSE-IRC) equalization, which has become the state-of-the-art, owing to its enhanced performance in the case of dense frequency reuse, which is typical in 5G. By contrast, in the 4G LTE system, typically turbo equalization techniques were used. The family of Non-Linear receiver techniques tend to be eminently suitable for tough rank-deficient scenarios, when the received signal constellation becomes linearly non-separable. Hence, we propose a novel receiver for interference-constrained MIMO-OFDM systems, relying on a linear MMSE-IRC detector intrinsically amalgamated with an additional NL equalizer. In this way, we may achieve the best of both worlds, retaining the interference rejection capability of the MMSE-IRC detector and the superior performance of the NL equalizer. Our solution circumvents the potential failure of the MMSE-IRC, when the MIMO channels' degree freedom is completely exhausted by the desired users in case the transmitter has a high number of transmission layers for example. Based on this concept, we then design a novel NL equalizer relying on the Smart Ordering and Candidate Adding (SOCA) algorithm. This reduced complexity NL detection algorithm is particularly well suited for practical hardware implementation using parallel processing at a low latency. Briefly, the proposed scheme employs the MMSE-IRC detector for mitigating the interference. It makes the first estimate of the desired user signals and then uses the SOCA detector for further decontaminating the received signals. It also generates the soft information, enabling turbo equalization, wherein iterative detector and decoder iteratively exchange their soft information.
