Artificial neural networks which are inspired with the concept of the biological neurons, in widely used medical field, prediction of weather, engineering and many more. Neural networks approaches are providing a solution to help in the decision-making process for prediction of weather as well as a prediction of raindrop. The research aims to establish the suitability and capability of neural networks in order to predict the raindrop based on three parameters; pressure, humidity and temperature. These parameters will be used as input to the classifier (neural network) and classified as percentage of rain to be happen. Hybrid multilayer perceptron (HMLP) network is proven to produce the results with accuracy percentage (98.53%).

Heart abnormality refers to the irregular electrical activity of the heart. Heart abnormality sometimes does not show any symptom and it is not sensible which may lead to sudden death due to the heart cease functioning. This paper attempts to develop a program that is capable to detect the heart abnormality activity through the implementation of Multilayer Perceptron (MLP). A certain amount of data of the heartbeat signals from electrocardiogram (ECG) will be used in this project to train the MLP network and to test the network performance. The MLP are trained by several techniques which are Backpropagation (BP), Bayesian Regularization (BR) and Levenberg-Marquardt (LM).

We discuss a simulation program for indoor visible light communication system with hexagonal LED array shape that will allow us to focus the luminance of optical light for the room center with neglecting of the boundary since they will be occupied by furniture. It is assumed that users will not be in those areas. We are going to model OOK, PPM and QAM modulation techniques with varied semi-angle degrees, as a result we want to prove with hexagonal shape we could make and uniform luminance in the room. MATLAB and Simulink will be used for simulation.

Natural convection in an attic space with top cooling is investigated by three dimensional numerical simulation for a wide range of Rayleigh numbers. The numerical results show the development of natural convection flow in attic space. Three stages: an initial stage, a transitional stage and a fully developed stage are involved. At higher Rayleigh numbers, the flow in the attic space is three dimensional and asymmetry with respect to geometric symmetry plane. The critical Rayleigh number for asymmetric flow is found.

The objective of this work was to study the homogeneous kinetics of pectin extraction of Balinese orange peel conducted using Microwave Assisted Extraction (MAE). The experimental data showed that the power increases (180 to 600 W), so that the extraction yield of pectin also increases (12.2 to 30.6 % w/w). Moreover, the extraction time is longer (10, 15, and 20 min) the yield of pectin increases (8.8, 20.2, and 40.5). At time after of 20 min (25 and 30 min), the yield starts to decrease (36.6 and 22.9). This phenomena shows pectin degradation. Therefore, pectin extraction is a series reaction, i.e. extraction and degradation. The calculation result showed that pseudo series homogeneous model can quantitatively describe the extraction kinetics. The kinetic constants can be expressed by Arrhenius equation with the frequency factors of 1.58 × 105 and 2.29 × 105 1/min, while the activation energies are 64,350 and 56,571 J/mole for extraction and degradation, respectively.

This paper presents a new optimized decentralized controller design method for solving the tracking and disturbance rejection problems for large-scale linear time-invariant systems, using only low-order decentralized controllers. To illustrate the type of results which can be obtained using the new optimized decentralized control design method, the control of a large flexible space structure is studied and compared with the standard centralized LQR-observer controller. The order of the resultant decentralized controller is much smaller than that of the standard centralized LQR-observer controller. The proposed controller also has certain fail-safe properties and, in addition, it can be five orders of magnitude more robust than the standard LQR-observer controller based on their real stability radii. The new decentralized controller design method is applied to a large flexible space structure system with 5 inputs and 5 outputs and of order 24.

Multi line transmission (MLT) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) are two types of approaches which have been individually applied to increase the ultrasound data acquisition rate. Only recently these two techniques have been combined in the search for an additional improvement of the data-acquisition rate. While MLT essentially relies on beams spatial-separations in order to maintain a low interbeam cross- talk and form multiple image-lines simultaneously, OFDM mitigates interbeam cross-talk by assigning to each beam a fraction of the transducer bandwidth. However, generating multiple beams during the transmission phase deteriorates image quality. In particular, imaging artifacts are generated as a consequence of interbeam cross-talk. In this work, results from a filter optimization study are reported and discussed. Data as obtained from wire targets have been analysed to asses the impact of filter type, order and bandwidth on key imaging features, i.e. axial resolution, interbeam cross-talk and artifacts area. The ULA-OP 256 system equipped with a 2.4 MHz phased array was employed to collect the data.
