This article deals with the design of a low-cost balancing system which consist of battery balancing units, accumulator pack units and coordinator unit with interface for higher level of battery management system. This solution allows decentralized mode of operation and the aim of this work is implementation of controlling and diagnostic mechanism into an electric scooter project realized at Technical university of *** todays world which now fully enjoys the prime of electromobility, off-grid battery systems and other, it is important to seek the optimal balance between functionality and the economy side of BMS that being electronics which deals with secondary cells of batery packs. There were numerous sophisticated, but not too practical BMS models in the past, such as centralized system or standalone balance modules of individual cells. This article aims at development of standalone balance modules which are able to communicate with the coordinator, adjust their parameters and ensure their cells safety in case of a communication failure. With the current worldwide cutting cost trend in mind, the emphasis was put on the lowest price possible for individual component. The article is divided into two major categories, the first one being desing of power electronics with emphasis on quality, safety (cooling) and also cost. The second part describes development of a communication interface with reliability and cost in mind. The article contains numerous graphs from practical measurements. The outcome of the work and its possible future is defined in the conclusion.

This article deals with study of possible connection of the REXcontrols platform with Raspberry Pi based control system and Navio2 expansion board. This board is designed for development of autonomous robotic platforms type car, plane or multicopter. In this article, control system REXcontrols is introduced and its integration possibilities for control board Navio2 are discussed. The main discussed aspects are communication possibilities of the REXcontrols system with external scripts which further on allow control of this board. The main reasons for this undertaking are vast possibilities of archiving, visualization, signal processing and control which REXcontrols system allows. The control itself of the navio2 board is done through numerous interfaces. Specifically it is a pair of SPI data buses, an I2C data bus, UART and multiple GPIO pins. However, since REXcontrols control system has only limited access to these data buses, it is necessary to establish the communication through external scripts. For this purpose REXcontrols is equipped with mechanisms; SILO, EPC and REXLANG which are described in the article. Due to its simple implementation into REXcontrols and the option to utilize available libraries for communication with Navio2 board in external script, an EPC block was selected for the final implementation.

This paper is focused on swarm intelligence techniques and its practical use in computer games. The aim is to show how a swarm dynamics can be generated by multiplayer game, then recorded, analyzed and eventually controlled. In this paper we also discuss possibility to use swarm intelligence instead of game players. Based on our previous experiments two games, using swarm algorithms are mentioned briefly here. The first one is strategy game StarCraft: Brood War, and TicTacToe in which SOMA algorithm has also take a role of player against human player. Open research reported here has shown potential benefit of swarm computation in the field of strategy games and players strategy based on swarm behavior record and analysis. We propose new game called Gold Rush as an experimental environment for human or artificial swarm behavior and consequent analysis.

Many guided wave systems that are being evaluated for nondestructive evaluation or structural health monitoring utilize multiple transducers. Data are typically acquired by exciting each transducer in turn and recording received signals on the remaining transducers either simultaneously or separately. For either case, it can be very slow to acquire data because of the multiple transmission cycles combined with a slow repetition rate and extensive signal averaging. This long acquisition time brings another disadvantage by increasing the risk of environmental changes occurring during the complete acquisition process. For example, applied loads and temperature could change over the several seconds that are frequently required to acquire data. To increase the acquisition speed, it is proposed here to simultaneously trigger multiple transmitters, and each transmitter is driven with a unique, coded excitation. The simultaneously transmitted waves are captured by one or more receivers, and their responses are processed by dispersive matched filtering to separately extract the contribution from each transmitter. Results are shown for signals obtained from a spatially distribution array mounted on an aluminum plate.

The representation of analyzed data by complex network brings different views on the problem which could lead into the increase of the number of valuable features. The study described in this paper aims on the representation of the similarities of pulses from the classified signal into the complex network. The analysis of signals’ pulses is purposed by correct classification of the signals measured on medium voltage (MV) overhead lines with application of covered conductors (CC). There is plenty of features available to extract from complex network, therefore they should be properly analyzed and evaluated according their relevancy.

In this article we are continuing in our research to show mutual intersection of two different areas of research: complex network and evolutionary computation. In this article we briefly describe cost functions and temporal centralities, than we show how to convert differential evolution into complex network and show plots for temporal centralities for two selected functions.
The extension and size of the power grid is expected to increase in the near future. Managing such a system presents challenging control problems that, so far, have been approached with classical control techniques. H...

We present a case study that demonstrates a bio-inspired approach in the process of finding optimal parameters for GSM fault model. This model is constructed using Petri Nets approach it represents dynamic model of GSM network environment in the suburban areas of Ostrava city (Czech Republic). We have been faced with a task of finding optimal parameters for an application that requires high amount of data transfers between the application itself and secure servers located in datacenter. In order to find the optimal set of parameters we employ bio-inspired algorithms such as Differential Evolution (DE) or Self Organizing Migrating Algorithm (SOMA). In this paper we present use of these algorithms, compare results and judge their performance in fault probability mitigation.

Relational Frame Theory is a post-skinnerian theory of language and cognition based on more than thirty years of basic and applied research. It defines language and cognitive skills as an operant repertoire of responses to arbitrarily related stimuli specific, as far as is now known, of the human species. RFT has been proved useful in addressing cognitive barriers to human action in psychotherapy and also improving children skills in reading, IQ testing, and in metaphoric and categorical repertoires. We present a frame of action where RFT can be used in programming software to help autistic children to develop cognitive skills within a developmental vision.

Impact-echo testing is a non-destructive evaluation technique for determining the presence of defects in reinforced concrete bridge decks based on the acoustic response of the bridge deck when struck by an impactor. In this work, we build on our prior research with a single-channel impactor to demonstrate a seven-channel impact-echo scanning system with independent control of the impactors. This system is towed by a vehicle and integrated with distance measurement for registering the locations of the impacts along a bridge deck. The entire impact and recording system is computer-controlled. Because of a winch system and hinged frame construction of the apparatus, setup, measurement, and take-down of the apparatus can be achieved in a matter of minutes. Signal processing of the impact responses is performed on site and can produce a map of delaminations immediately after data acquisition. This map can then be used to guide other testing and/or can be referenced with the results of other testing techniques to facilitate comprehensive condition assessments of concrete bridge decks. This work demonstrates how impact-echo testing can be performed in a manner that makes complete bridge deck scanning for delaminations rapid and practical.
