Thalassemia is known as one of the blood disorder diseases that is inherited by parents. There are several types of Thalassemia, namely as Thalassemia major, minor, and intermedia. Among them, Thalassemia major is the most dangerous and needs more attention. Generally, it can be detected since the child is one year old. Late detection of this disease can have adverse consequences and various complications. This study aims to develop a new model for the prediction of thalassemia for children. The model adopts a fuzzy-based rule. The novelty in this article is that our model has 4 outputs, namely thalassemia major, intermedia, minor and not thalassemia. In the previous article it only had 3 outputs. In this study, we intend to implement a model that we developed using a fuzzy-based approach to classify thalassemia diseases based on CBC data. This article describes how to build a model and implement it in software. We compare the test results with the opinion of pediatricians regarding thalassemia. The final results of testing 4 CBC data show that our proposed model has successfully identified the type of thalassemia. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In this paper, we propose a decision support system for green computing in data centers on campuses. Green computing aims at the development of technologies for a greener and more sustainable planet. In this work we focus on the greening of data centers that house servers on campuses. It is known that servers consume a huge amount of power and incur other costs in cooling and related operations. It is challenging to meet the demands of efficiency and accuracy in data centers while yet promoting a greener environment along with cost cutting. Our work proposes a decision support system based on decision trees and case-based reasoning that mines existing data in order to assist decision-making for better management in data centers. We consider various aspects of the data from an environmental management perspective such as carbon footprint, thermal profiles and virtualization. Issues such as efficiency and accuracy are taken into account here, In this proposal paper, we outline the need for our work, the challenges involved, the proposed approach for building the system, preliminary evaluation and future plans. This work would be of interest to the data and knowledge management community as well as environmental scientists and researchers in related areas. © 2010 ACM.

A Proposal of GA Using Symbiotic Evolutionary Viruses and its Virus Evaluation Techniques

In this paper, we propose a Genetic Algorithm (GA) using symbiotic evolutionary viruses based on both the building block hypothesis and the virus theory of evolution. The proposed GA aims to control the destruction of building blocks by discovery, maintenance, and propagation of building blocks based on virus operation. We prepare a group of individuals and a group of viruses. The group of individuals searches for solutions and the group of viruses searches for building blocks. These searches are done based on the symbiotic relation of both groups. Also, our GA has two types of virus evaluation technique. In one type, each virus is evaluated by the difference of the fitness of an individual before and after virus infection. In the other type, all viruses are evaluated by the difference of the fitness of an individual before and after infection of all viruses. We applied the proposed GA to a minimum value search problem using a test function with some local minima far from the optimum. Finally, we also discuss the search behavior in the proposed GA based on each virus evaluation technique. © Fuji Technology Press Ltd. Intrusion Detection System provides services related to surveillance of computer security, as one of the minimum components that must exist in a computer network architecture. Regarding the adoption of cloud technology, many users have switched to using cloud computers to operate servers, applications, or the web in cloud computing. To meet the security needs of users, various open source and commercial tools are being developed. Although many developments have taken place in the IDS area, in cloud-based IDS many challenges such as security, interoperability, resource scheduling, virtualization still need to be improved. This paper reviews the paradigms and surveys about the Intrusion Detection System that runs on cloud computing in terms of concepts, technology, tools, and various challenges. A systematic literature review of selected papers, published from 2016 to 2020, was carried out to properly understand the Intrusion detection System paradigm in cloud computing and the security challenges faced in cloud computing. Inflammation is a local protective response caused by tissue injury or damage that serves to destroy, reduce, or localize both injured and injured tissues. In Indonesia, especially in Bali famous for its traditional medicine is Usada Bali. One part of Usada Bali is Lontar UsadaTaruPramana which contains an explanation of medicinal ingredients derived from herbs as an external medicine in the form of boreh (parem). This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the formulation boreh usadatarupramana as anti-inflammatory therapy against male rats induced carrageenan. The method used was pre-test and post-test with control group design using 15 male white rats divided into 3 treatment groups. Group 1 (P1 or negative control) was given 15 mg placebo (cream base), Group 2 (P2 or positive control) was given 15 mg sodium diclofenac cream and Group 3 (P3or treatment group) was given 15 mg boreh formulation. The statistical analysis showed no significant difference of rat foot volume between positive control group and boreh formulation group with p-value = 0.444. This suggests that the boreh formulation group had the same effect as the positive control group as the anti-inflammatory therapy on decreased rat foot volume of edema.

The changes of biology learning activities in higher education during the COVID-19 pandemic

Biology learning during the Covid-19 pandemic was undoubtedly run online. This causes changes in student learning activities. This study aimed to determine the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic biology learning activities. This study was a quantitative descriptive through a survey of biology education student's at 4 universities (55 students). The survey was conducted by giving a questionnaire to 55 students.. The questionnaire consisted of 50 statement items that included indicators of learning activities for learning before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey results show the average percentage of all indicators of biology learning activities before the pandemic was 79.06%, while during the pandemic it was 70.97%. Student's activities such as group discussions, collaborative work in problem solving, be on time for learning, focus during learning and presentations with online learning during a pandemic have decreased compared to learning activities before the pandemic. The results of this study indicate that student learning activities in learning biology have changed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Online biology learning needs to be well developed so that it has a good impact on learning activities.

Combining rating scale and FANP to determine the important weight of learning competency for students’ assessment

Determining the important weight of learning competency is an important problem for students’ assessment in credentialing and certification decision-making. Learning competencies should have importance weight that definitely affect the final decision, and can represent strengths and weaknesses of student achievement of certain competencies. The weight of learning competency is determined based on its difficulty level, which is identified by the depth, scope and complexity of material involved in it. The dependency among learning competencies must also be considered in determining the weight. Therefore, this study aims to develop a weighting method based on combining rating scale and fuzzy analytic network process (FANP) to determine the weight of learning competency. Using the proposed method, the weight of learning competency is obtained and then can be used in calculating the final score for students’ assessment.

Students' conceptual and procedural knowledge on integration: Reflections on calculus learning

This study aims to describe conceptual and procedural knowledge on integral topics. Data were collected from 30 students who were randomly selected from 120 students of the mathematics education study program at IAIN Bukittinggi who took an integral calculus course. Data were analyzed by categories from student's work. The results showed that students' conceptual knowledge is still very low. Students do not understand the meaning of the definite integral as the limit of the Riemann sum and build a definition of the integral. Most of the students had a fairly good knowledge of procedural aspects. Students can determine the integral of a function using the basic theorems of calculus and can use the right integration technique for some given functions. On the other hand. Integral calculus learning is expected to increase students' conceptual knowledge in addition to their procedural knowledge.
