Increasing the efficiency of photovoltaic streetlight through microalgal fuel cell Spirulina sp. series circuit prototypes

Climate change is one of the various problems faced by various countries. Many sectors that contribute to climate change, electricity, and heat production were identified as the main contributors to CO2 emissions worldwide. On the other hand, Spirulina sp. potential for becoming power generator because it has good photosynthetic efficiency as anolyte biophotovoltaic devices. This research aims to test the effectiveness of photovoltaic using Spirulina sp. and develop Spirulina sp. as streetlights. The prototype uses 21 pairs of Spirulina sp. microalgal fuel cells as generator, based on voltage measurements using 100 ml anolyte and 500 ml catholyte which produces voltage value 405 mV. Using 21 pairs of series circuits, the voltage value obtained is 17.6 V. This prototype is equipped with aeration system to support the life of Spirulina sp. and equipped with LDR sensor for automation refers to the presence/absence of sunlight. Based on the results, there are challenges in the form of prototype sizes that are not suitable for streetlights in general, so further studies are needed to implement and commercial photovoltaic streetlights based on Spirulina sp. microalgal fuel cells.

The effect of artificial age time on crystal size, dislocation density, hardness and micro structure on Al 6061 materials alloy

Research on the effect of T6 heat treatment and artificial life time on crystal size, density dislocation, hardness, and microstructure of Al 6061 alloy material made from powder metallurgy. The T6 heat treatment starts with a solid solution which is heated at 530 ° C, held for 60 minutes, then quenching into the water media, and the artificial aging process at 200 ° C and variations in the holding time of 1h, 24h, and 30h. Crystal size, dislocation density and lattice microstructure testing using X-ray diffractometer, hardness testing with Vickers scale and surface microstructure with SEM-EDX. Test results of crystal size, dislocation density, and micro lattice strain on 4 phase α-Al at the miller index plane (111), (200), (220), and (311) show that the crystal size increases with the duration of heating time of artificial aging. While dislocation density and micro lattice strain increase over a heating period of 1h to 30h, dislocation density and lattice strain decrease at the Miller index plane (111) to (311). The hardness testing of Al 6061 as-cast material was 54 HV after quenching the water hardness value of 75 HV, but after artificial aging the hardness decreased with a longer holding time from 45.50 HV to 39.95 HV. Microstructure observations with SEM-EDX, showed that the Al 6061 test sample without heat treatment showed a dominant α-Al matrix, whereas in the Al 6061 sample after the T6 process it was seen that the Mg2Si phase functioned to harden the Al 6061 alloy.

The purpose of this research is to be able to recognize laboratory scale sedimentation devices in the process of deposition through batch system experiments in a cylindrical tub, to explain how the relationship between time, height of deposition and concentration of various solids with sedimentation rates, can compare the precipitating materials used in the sedimentation process both manually and automatically, and can determine the performance of tools and sedimentation rates by using a variety of sedimentation and flocculant materials used in the sedimentation process both without the addition of flocculants or with the addition of flocculants. In supporting this research, the method used is experimentation and analysis. The sample is a mixture of media that is water - depositional material (solids) where the depositional material has previously been sieved and cleaned of impurities and the variables analyzed were deposition time, deposition height, suspension concentration and concentration of flocculant addition. the settling material used varies, among others: 50 grams, 100 grams, 150 grams, 200 grams, and 250 grams, then put into a settling tube. While the results can be obtained from visualization data that is based on more accurate observations and data processing conditions (measurements) obtained in the form of the influence of time on settling rate, the influence of sedimentation column height on settling rate and the effect of solid concentration on settling rate. From the results obtained from various settling materials, the settling speed for CaCO3 precipitates without flocculants and with flocculants is 4.43 cm / minute and 3.86 cm / minute. For the settling speed for tapioca flour depositor without flocculant and with flocculant is 23.64 cm / minute and 23.47 cm / minute. And for settling speed for dry soil sedimentation material without flocculant and with flocculant is 18.60 cm / minute and 15.10 cm / minute and for settling speed of active carbon

Photonic technologies continue to drive the quest for new optical materials with unprecedented responses. A major frontier in this field is the exploration of nonlocal (spatially dispersive) materials, going beyond the local, wavevector-independent assumption traditionally made in optical material modeling. On one end, the growing interest in plasmonic, polaritonic and quantum materials has revealed naturally occurring nonlocalities, emphasizing the need for more accurate models to predict and design their optical responses. This has major implications also for topological, nonreciprocal, and time-varying systems based on these material platforms. Beyond natural materials, artificially structured materials—metamaterials and metasurfaces–can provide even stronger and engineered nonlocal effects, emerging from long-range interactions or multipolar effects. This is a rapidly expanding area in the field of photonic metamaterials, with open frontiers yet to be explored. In the case of metasurfaces, in particular, nonlocality engineering has become a powerful tool for designing strongly wavevector-dependent responses, enabling enhanced wavefront control, spatial compression, multifunctional devices, and wave-based computing. Furthermore, nonlocality and related concepts play a critical role in defining the ultimate limits of what is possible in optics, photonics, and wave physics. This Roadmap aims to survey the most exciting developments in nonlocal photonic materials, highlight new opportunities and open challenges, and chart new pathways that will drive this emerging field forward–toward new scientific discoveries and technological advancements. Mobile devices are becoming an indispensable part of daily lives. This system has been developed interactive android application to assist and provide the support helps people such as blind and other physically limited people who face. They will be done for outgoing calling to his family and also the area around them. Speech recognition is technology that uses desired equipment and a service which can be controlled through voice of the android smart phone. An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is an information processing paradigm that is inspired by the way biological nervous systems, such as the brain, process information. The device proposed here is an interactive android platform, which is capable of recognizing spoken words. We propose to developed interactive android application and also added some features which are currently available in android based smartphones such as attending for a line calling feature and out-going calling feature, over the voice commands which can run on the tablet or any android based phone. Speech recognition have a data set to translate between users' descriptions and the labels in the database, which has entries on the speech recognition (sounds and patterns) that make up the sound. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Weather prediction system and recommendation of plant varieties as an effort to minimize harvest failure with android-based Backpropagation Artificial Neural Networks

Based on Malang Regency agriculture data in 2017 presented by the Head of the Agriculture and Food Crops and Horticulture Office (DPTPH), there was a 2.5% decrease in yields. One hectare of paddy land can produce 7.71 tons during normal weather, but currently only produces 6.9 tons per hectare. Three farmers' groups in Malang Regency (2018), are of the opinion that the current weather greatly influences crop failure. Weather prediction used so far using conventional benchmarks for planting, is no longer relevant to current reality. These estimates are often incorrect, resulting in crop failures, which have an impact on the farmer's economy. This study aims to make the application of weather prediction systems and recommendations for suitable planting varieties based on data on temperature, humidity, time of sun exposure, wind speed, and rainfall using Backpropagation ANN method. Data used for Karangploso District weather prediction from 2009-2018. While the variables used in the application of Backpropagation ANN: temperature, humidity, time of sun exposure, wind speed, and rainfall. For output, the prediction of rainfall in the next 12 months and planting of varieties in accordance with the predicted rainfall, OPT and land type. From the calculation results of this application the MSE error value of 0.0299 is obtained.

The use of deep learning in medical image classification has become an important study in the past few years. The proper use of this method, however, is still hindered by many problems, one of it being the imbalance of dataset available for training which resulted in small-set database. In this study, the effect of noise-based augmentation on the performance of deep learning based classification will be studied. The noises which were used for the augmentation method were Perlin-noise and Gaussian noise. The modality of medical image used in this study is X-ray. 174 X-ray images (87 cancer, 87 normal) were used in this study and will be classified by using transfer learning from previously trained deep learning architecture. The deep learning architecture used was vgg-19. The images were divided into two groups, 138 (69 cancer, 69 normal) images were used for training phase and 36 (18 cancer, 18 normal) were images used for testing phase. Three deep learning models were used for the classification tasks, the first one was retrained to classify the original images, the second one was retrained by using mix of original images and images with Perlin-noise, and the third one was retrained by using mix of original images and images with Gaussian noise. The results showed that the three models returned similar accuracy of 0.8 which indicate that the use of noise-based augmentation can increase the performance of deep learning in classifying medical images with small set training database.

Digital automatic livestock weighing system using single beam load cell

The livestock market in Indonesia is still categorized as a traditional market due to the absence of the standard price and/or open sale. One recommendation that can be applied to livestock market is the application of weighing and management of livestock data, i.e. digital weighing system and cage structure with automatic door that can be opened and closed automatically. The proposed system is a cage that consists of digital scale based on single bending beam load cell with dimension 160cm x 80cm x 120cm. It has a sliding door driven automatically by DC motor. The livestock to be weighed is detected by the LDR-laser system which would notify the Mega 2560 arduino microcontroller to command the DC motor at the entrance and the exit spaces to open/close the door. The weighing results are displayed in LCD screen. The digital livestock scale could weigh linearly in the range of 0-440 kilograms with an average error of 0.265% and could measure a maximum weight of 620 kilograms.

Composite resin is one of dental material restoration that used in every dental office nowadays. Dental amalgam restoration had several problems in aesthetic and biocompatibility in oral cavity. To overcome the problem, dental composite resin which has great aesthetic, biocompatibility, physical, and mechanical properties has been developed. Composite resins are filled resin and have high compressive strength, abrasion resistance, ease of application, and high translucency. The objective of this review article is to review about dental composite resin including the composition, polymerization process, classification, and physical properties (water sorption, solubility, and polymerization shrinkage) of dental composite resin. Literature relating to dental composite resin and measurement of several physical properties, research methodologies, and contributing factors are selected and reviewed.

Bisindo information system as potential daily sign language learning

Bisindo or Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia is one of sign language methods in Indonesia, besides SIBI or Sistem Isyarat Bahasa Indonesia. Generally, Bisindo is used by deaf people in their daily communication. Deaf people tend to have barriers to communicate with others. Yet, in the educational realm, some of them still have high spirit to continue their education until university. So, they must improve their abilities or competences in communicating with others and try to get information from around the world, for example using sophisticated technology with sign language. Information system of sign language learning is important to help deaf and heard people who want to understand the deaf conversation meaning. Bisindo information system is in website form that is built by PHP, MySQL, and sublime text 3. Based on the black box method, the Bisindo information system can run well. The results of the trial to the user describe that the maximum percentage for each level of testing is above 50% except for testing of conformity with the needs of deaf only at maximum of 42%. The Bisindo information system still has weakness, but it already gives benefits especially for deaf people in Indonesia.
