Internet of Things (IoT) denotes as one of the wireless communication appliances that are intensively developed. Application of this technology has implemented in many used cases such as smart city, healthcare, smart transportation, agriculture, and others. However, the increase of connected devices in communication systems will lead to scarcity issues on wireless spectrum resources. Thus, the implementation of cognitive radio mechanism in future communication system becomes important. On the other hand, the future communication technology is expected to apply green communication concept as well, so that the system can save energy usage and have self-powered by harvesting the energy from ambient. This paper will provide a literature review of cognitive radio based IoT with energy harvesting mechanism. This review will provide the comparative summary on several focus domains such as RF energy harvesting, spectrum sensing and utilization, and performance metric. Finally, it will address some open research issues for further works.

The aim of this systematic review is to give attention towards the use of wavelet transform in denoising financial time series. This is important to deliver an accurate option pricing for the use of investors or other market practitioners. In this paper, there are many areas of application where researchers employ wavelet transform in time series analysis. Different wavelet transforms with various methodologies have been recorded; either based on the stand-alone wavelet transform function or its integration with other models. The lack of use of wavelet transform in option-implied information in facilitating market practitioners in improving the option valuation accuracy has been identified to be one of promising avenue to be explored, based on the reviews.

Optimization of hydrofoils for ocean current energy application: A brief review

Since the marine source is vast, an optimized energy converter design is needed to extract as much marine energy as possible. This paper briefly overviewed the optimization technique of hydrofoil for the ocean current energy development. Optimization was considered an essential solution to solve the hydrodynamics design problem formally and systematically. Optimization methods such as Genetic algorithms, Particle swarm optimization, and Computational fluid dynamic were the widely used techniques in achieving the optimal hydrofoil shape for ocean current energy applications. This paper also overviewed the Artificial Neural Network as an objective function for the optimization algorithm to reduce the optimization process time-consuming. It is crucial to improve the optimization process. Based on the outcome of this review paper, the selection of design variables has a significant impact on the optimization process. Therefore, it is recommended to apply different hydrofoil types and adjust the thickness and camber of the hydrofoil where both are essential geometric parameters. Optimization of hydrofoil's shape is crucial to increase the hydrodynamic performance of the turbine blades. Finally, the optimal design of the current energy converter hopefully will help ensure the continuity of energy harvest from the untouchable ocean and reduce the diversification burden on existing technologies yet can also act as a backbone for driving the economy.

Pergau Dam as the largest hydroelectrical generation station in Peninsular Malaysia within a mountainous region;is supplied by many flowing river as its intakes. Previous researches within Pergau area mostly focused on biodiversity while this research was to carry out baseline investigation on the minerals present in the intakes sediment of Pergau Dam through surface sampling. Through stereoscopic observation, assemblages of quartz, plagioclase, feldspar, muscovite, and biotite minerals in sediments implies a granitoid source rock. By computing X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) chemical compositional data of sediments into chemical weathering indices, overall weathering condition of Pergau Dam intakes area are unweathered to low chemical weathering intensity. Through Combination of XRF data and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) patterns of mineral phases, detailed mineralogy of plagioclases, K-feldspars, sericites, chlorites and accessory minerals such as epidotes, zircon and monazite were identified. Mineral assemblage and Streckeisen Diagram plots indicate the granitoid source rocks of the sediments are quartz monzorite and quartz monzodiorite. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Nowadays, database technology keeps evolving and available on various platforms. However, the use of heterogeneous database had a limitation because each database only provides a synchronization method for similar types of databases. Therefore, the utilization of various types of databases becoming a problem since the entire data among the databases need to be integrated. Previous research had examined heterogeneous database synchronization algorithms on mobile devices using message digest. Nevertheless, this algorithm requires a longer synchronization time because necessity to check the hash value of each data record. Thus, this study investigates the development of a multi-platform database synchronization algorithm using the Entity Relationship (ER) model. This model is based on the data relationships in each table. ER model implementation is executed by creating a temporary table that stores the primary key of each data record in a table that has changed or consist new data. The synchronization process flow is determined based on the type of transaction by selecting data from the source table based on the relationship from the temporary table data to the destination database. The results of this study indicates that the proposed ER model could be a new method in the heterogeneous database synchronization process and is able to shorten the synchronization process time.

Lyapunov stability of the numerical solution of the Saint-Venant equation

The work is devoted to the study of the stability of the finite difference method for the initial-boundary value problem for the system of Saint-Venant equations. Easily the verifiable practical stability conditions have been obtained. Energy estimates are established for an approximate solution of a discrete initial-boundary value problem. This energy estimate allows us to assert the stability of the finite difference method. The corresponding stability theorem is proved. The discrete Lyapunov function is constructed. An a priori estimate is obtained for the numerical solution of the boundary-value difference problem. This estimate allows us to speak about the exponential stability of the numerical solution.

Headwater stream can be defined as colluvial and fluvial system located at mountainous areas where stream order of less than four is recorded from the source to the outlet point of interest. This river system is crucial not only for impounding activities but high kinetic energy at highland areas able to entrain and transport large amount of sediment particles from upstream to the downstream river reach. Due to strategic location for water intake facilities, a study was carried out to determine the extent of erosion and sedimentation process at Pergau water intakes that conveyed water into Pergau Lake. Three specific aims were formulated: Soil loss determination at catchment scale, sediment load determination at reach scale and river bank stability and toe erosion near the intake facility. A desktop study using remote sensing and GIS tools was executed to determine the extent of soil loss at catchment scale. The sediment load and river bank stability were measured in the field using wading technique. Due to the advanced and hasty development of technology nowadays, researches in relation to Artificial Intelligence (AI) such as Machine Learning (ML), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Neural Network (NN) and Expert System (ES) are progressively introduced. These AI types are also frequently presented in building a new and profitable Algorithmic Trading System (ATS). Apart from Fundamental Analysis (FA), Technical Analysis (TA) based on Technical Indicators (TIs) is one of the most AI used in the development of ATS. However, there is a lack of research despite the available knowledge on TIs in ATS where AI is implemented. Therefore, this study aims to review the ATS current work comprehensively using TIs in AI. A systematic literature review (SLR) has been performed to achieve the objective of this study. This article analyses the rough and systematic literature search process for 17 selected papers from 2010 to 2020. The analysis depicts that in most published studies, GA with multiple TIs is applied. The result of this study leads to a pertinent suggestion that is aimed for further researches on ATS to be conducted by future researchers and traders.

Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) is a solution in robotics in which Global Positioning System (GPS) positioning is impossible. One particular example is indoor navigation which is used in poor signal or distance of objects is negligible relative to GPS precision. In this research, visual SLAM is implemented using a stereo depth camera simulated in Gazebo which will generate Point Cloud which later converted into Octomap, a spatially efficient data structure. Based on the information gathered a path planning algorithm can be implemented for the desired UAV, in this case a quadcopter because of its versatility and 3D navigation. The path planning is implemented using Informed Rapidly-exploring Random Tree (Informed RRT*) which uses an ellipsoid boundary to optimize the stochastic path planning. All these are implemented in the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework. In this research it is shown that Informed RRT* algorithm gives a solution for a quadcopter.

Natural and synthetic polymers have been long used in wastewater treatment. In this study, two positive charge polymers (natural and synthetic) were selected. These polymers were than tested for its ability to treat the wastewater with polymer dosages ranging from 1-20 mg/L. Both synthetic and natural have almost similar performance in turbidity removal. The highest removal rate of 90% was obtained at a dose of 20 mg/L. The removal of humic acid in demineralized water and wastewater was compared. Humic acid removal at 70% was reached in demineralized water, and 30% in wastewater. The removal of COD and phosphate is also reported.
