Background and objective: The promising use of artificial intelligence (AI) to emulate human empathy may help a physician engage with a more empathic doctor-patient relationship. This study demonstrates the application of artificial empathy based on facial emotion recognition to evaluate doctor-patient relationships in clinical practice. Methods: A prospective study used recorded video data of doctor-patient clinical encounters in dermatology outpatient clinics, Taipei Municipal Wanfang Hospital, and Taipei Medical University Hospital collected from March to December 2019. Two cameras recorded the facial expressions of four doctors and 348 adult patients during regular clinical practice. Facial emotion recognition was used to analyze the basic emotions of doctors and patients with a temporal resolution of 1 second. In addition, a physician-patient satisfaction questionnaire was administered after each clinical session, and two standard patients gave impartial feedback to avoid bias. The role of vitamin D3 administration on IFN-γ, IL-1β expression and repair of colonic mucosa at mice models of ulcerative colitis

Ulcerative colitis is an idiopathic inflammatory disorder affecting the small intestine and rectum mucosa. The main clinical manifestations are bloody diarrhea and abdominal pain. Vitamin D3 has a role in the immunological response and ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory disease closely related to decreased levels of vitamin D3. This study examined the effects of vitamin D3 on IFN-γ and IL-1β which play a role in colitis mechanism, and colonic mucosal repair in DSS-induced colitis mice models. This is an experimental study using a randomized post-test only control group design with 21 samples, divided into three groups. The results showed significant epithelial damage found in the positive control group (9.42 ± 2.16) compared to the negative control group (0.33 ± 0.26) and treatment group (6.29 ± 1.48) based on MCHI scores and there was a significant difference in IFN-γ and IL-1β expression levels of mice colon epithelial cells among the groups.

We present 850 µm thermal dust polarization observations with a resolution of 14.4′′(∼ 0.13 pc) towards an infrared dark cloud G16.96+0.27 using JCMT/POL-2. The average magnetic field orientation, which roughly agrees with the larger-scale magnetic field orientation traced by the Planck 353 GHz data, is approximately perpendicular to the filament structure. The estimated plane-of-sky magnetic field strength is ∼ 96 µG and ∼ 60 µG using two variants of the Davis-Chandrasekhar-Fermi methods. We calculate the virial and magnetic critical parameters to evaluate the relative importance of gravity, the magnetic field, and turbulence. The magnetic field and turbulence are both weaker than gravity, but magnetic fields and turbulence together are equal to gravity, suggesting that G16.96+0.27 is in a quasi-equilibrium state. The cloud-magnetic-field alignment is found to have a trend moving away from perpendicularity in the dense regions, which may serve as a tracer of potential fragmentation in such quiescent filaments. © 2024, CC BY.

We present 850 μm imaging of the XMM-LSS field observed for 170 hours as part of the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope SCUBA-2 Large eXtragalactic Survey (S2LXS). S2LXS XMM-LSS maps an area of 9 deg2, reaching a moderate depth of 1σ 4 mJy beam−1. This is the largest contiguous area of extragalactic sky mapped by JCMT at 850 μm to date. The wide area of the S2LXS XMM-LSS survey allows us to probe the ultra-bright (S850μm & 15 mJy), yet rare submillimetre population. We present the S2LXS XMM-LSS catalogue, which comprises 40 sources detected at >5σ significance, with deboosted flux densities in the range of 7 mJy to 48 mJy. We robustly measure the bright-end of the 850 μm number counts at flux densities >7 mJy, reducing the Poisson errors compared to existing measurements. The S2LXS XMM-LSS observed number counts show the characteristic upturn at bright fluxes, expected to be motivated by local sources of submillimetre emission and high-redshift strongly lensed galaxies. We find that the observed 850 μm number counts are best reproduced by model predictions that include either strong lensing or source blending from a 15 arcsec beam, indicating that both may make an important contribution to the observed over-abundance of bright single dish 850 μm selected sources. We present the first weak-lensing mass calibration and X-ray scaling relations of galaxy clusters and groups selected in the eROSITA Final Equatorial Depth Survey (eFEDS) observed by Spectrum Roentgen Gamma/eROSITA over a contiguous footprint with an area of ≈ 140 deg2, using the three-year (S19A) weak-lensing data from the Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) Subaru Strategic program survey. In this work, we study a sample of 434 optically confirmed galaxy clusters (and groups) at redshift 0.01 z 1.3 with a median of 0.35, of which 313 systems are uniformly covered by the HSC survey to enable the extraction of the weak-lensing shear observable. In a Bayesian population modeling, we perform a blind analysis for the weak-lensing mass calibration by simultaneously modeling the observed count rate η and the shear profile g+of individual clusters through the count-rate-to-mass-and-redshift (η-M500-z) relation and the weak-lensing-mass-to-mass-and-redshift (MWL- M500-z) relation, respectively, while accounting for the bias in these observables using simulation-based calibrations. As a result, the count-rateinferred and lensing-calibrated cluster mass is obtained from the joint modeling of the scaling relations, as the ensemble mass spanning a range of 1013h-1Mo M500 1015h-1Mo with a median of ≈ 1014h-1Mofor the eFEDS sample. With the mass calibration, we further model the X-ray observable-to-mass-and-redshift relations, including the rest-frame soft-band and bolometric luminosity (LXand Lb), the emission-weighted temperature TX, the mass of intra-cluster medium Mg, and the mass proxy YX, which is the product of TXand Mg. Except for LXwith a steeper dependence on the cluster mass at a statistically significant level, we find that the other X-ray scaling relations all show a mass trend that is statistically consistent with the self-similar prediction at a level of 1.7σ. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of Phet simulation applications on smartphones Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning models of students' learning independence and the different effects of learning independence. The type of research applied was quasi experiment. Research design used Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study was all students of class X of MAN 3 Sleman which was divided into 8 classes. The sampling technique used cluster purposive sampling. Both classes are given treatment with the Problem Based Learning model assisted by the Phet application which was installed on each student's smartphone. The average level of learning independence of students in the modelling class after they participated in learning activities included in the good category, and in the implementation, class included in the good category. The significance level shows the numbers in the effective category. So it can be stated that the learning independence questionnaire of both classes was effective, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model assisted by the Phets application is effective in terms of the achievement of the learning independence of students in class X of MAN 3 Sleman in the academic year 2017/2018.

The study investigates the learning strategies chosen and planned by the teachers to develop the creativity of secondary school students in Indonesia. The descriptive research involved 110 science teachers of secondary school from 22 provinces in Indonesia. They were chosen by purposive technique sampling. The instruments were questionnaires, open-ended questions, and lesson plan format, validated by two science education experts. The data were processed quantitatively and qualitatively through triangulation. The findings from the questionnaire showed that the teaching strategies chosen by the science teachers in secondary school were PjBL (43.50%), STEAM (16.70%), PBL (13.90%), Inquiry (12.00%), STEM (16.70%), and Personal Strategy (2.80%). Although the teacher chooses various learning strategies, the coding process from lesson plan analysis and transcripts of an open-ended question shows that the development of student creativity must be based on science’s fundamental concepts. It means concept mastery and creativity are the two essential learning goals, and they could not be separated.

Context. The eFEDS survey is a proof-of-concept mini-survey designed to demonstrate the survey science capabilities of SRG/eROSITA. It covers an area of 140 deg2 where ∼ 540 galaxy clusters have been detected out to a redshift of 1.3. The eFEDS field is partly embedded in the Hyper Suprime-Cam Subaru Strategic program (HSC-SSP) S19A data release, which covers ∼ 510 deg2, containing approximately 36 million galaxies. This galaxy catalogue has been used to construct a sample of ∼ 180 shear-selected galaxy clusters. The common area to both surveys covers about 90 deg2, making it an ideal region to study galaxy clusters selected in different ways. Aims. The aim of this work is to investigate the effects of selection methods in the galaxy cluster detection by comparing the X-ray selected, eFEDS, and the shear-selected, HSC-SSP S19A, galaxy cluster samples. There are 25 shear-selected clusters in the eFEDS fooprint. Methods. The relation between X-ray bolometric luminosity and weak-lensing mass is investigated (Lbol − M relation), comparing this relation derived from a shear-selected cluster sample to the relation obtained from an X-ray selected sample. Moreover, the dynamical state of the shear-selected clusters is investigated and compared to the X-ray selected sample using X-ray morphological parameters and galaxy distribution. Results. The normalisation of the Lbol − M relation of the X-ray selected and shear-selected samples is consistent within 1σ. Moreover, the dynamical state and merger fraction of the shear-selected clusters is not different from the X-ray selected ones. Four shear-selected clusters are undetected in X-rays. A close inspection reveals that one is the result of projection effects, while the other three have an X-ray flux below the ultimate eROSITA detection limit. Hard turning is considered a strong candidate to partially replace grinding in finishing operations. However, as in the grinding operation, hard turning produces high temperatures that contributes to accelerate the cutting tool wear. In order to minimize this effect, cutting fluids can be applied as an alternative, even when PCBN inserts are used as cutting tools. However, there are many drawbacks associated with the use of cutting fluids, particularly those of mineral base, as they are hazardous to the environment. In this context, the need for more eco-friendly cutting fluids is growing and liquid nitrogen (LN2) offers a promising alternative. Previous studies have shown that LN2 can significantly reduce the cutting tool wear rate in comparison with other cooling strategies, and this is normally attributed to a reduction in the tool-chip interface temperature. However, investigations on the tool-chip interface temperature in cryogenic machining are scarce in the literature, particularly with regard to the turning of tool steels, and this study was performed to partially fill this gap. The tool-chip interface temperature during the turning of quenched and tempered AISI D6 tool steel, under dry conditions and using LN2, was investigated. A tool-workpiece thermocouple system was developed for this purpose and calibrated using a data acquisition system based on the low-cost Arduino Uno platform. In the turning tests, liquid nitrogen was delivered at the tool flank face of PCBN inserts at three cutting speeds with a constant feed rate and depth of cut. The results showed that LN2 was effective in reducing the tool-chip interface temperature at the lowest cutting speed;however, when this cutting parameter was increased, the reduction in the interface temperature was minimal as compared with the dry condition. © 2021, CC BY.
