In these days, many people have their own cars to make the life easier. Unfortunately, the fuel price has increased week by week. To solve this problem, the hybrid solar energy and electric cars are introduced in order to reduce the consumption of car fuel. The main objective of this project is to design a system with two inputs of energy sources in generating the power for electric vehicle. This paper provides the solution of the problems that have been faced by electric car users. Besides the electric-vehicle battery (EVB) has been charged by connecting the vehicle to an external power supply, the solar panel roof is the alternative solution as a secondary energy input of source. The rooftops is opened when the light intensity is more than 10 lux. At 50% of battery consumption, the warning alarm will be displayed and the motor speed is automatically reduced to ensure the lengthen journey. This project is developed by using Graphic user Interface (GUI) of Visual Basic (VB) in order to control and monitor the energy used and stored into lithium ion battery. Other than that, the Arduino is used for interfacing between hardware and Arduino IDE software. The whole system is able to provide benefits to car users in planning a proper journey.

A text-dependent speaker verification system has been implemented for forensic application since 2008 when speech recording is allowed as legal evidence in Indonesian court. Due to the laborious procedures of the current system, an automatic text-independent speaker verification system is being developed in order to accelerate the forensic speaker verification process. The new forensic system is developed using a database spoken in Indonesian. The database is built on two scenarios, interview and conversation. This is done to simulate the real forensic condition for speaker verification in Indonesia. The system adopts the very famous Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) and Universal Background Model (UBM) framework in speaker verification field and using Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) as the speech feature. Along with the application of zero-normalization, the new forensic speaker verification system has successfully reached an Equal Error Rate (EER) of 4.66 % that is a better performance than the previous developed system of Indonesian forensic speaker verification.

Gas measurement techniques of solid electrolyte type have an excellent environment resistance in high temperature and high pressure, and are utilized in various fields, such as the oxygen sensor for automobile exhaust gases. Particularly, the proton conductive solid electrolyte type hydrogen sensor system could have the excellent accident tolerant capability to measure hydrogen concentration under harsh environmental conditions such as severe accident (SA) in a pressurized water reactor (PWR) plant as well as a boiling water reactor (BWR) plant. The principle of a hydrogen concentration cell has been applied to this hydrogen sensor system. However, accurate hydrogen concentration measurement in oxygen coexistence atmosphere is difficult, since the hydrogen oxidation reaction makes a mixed potential on the platinum sensing electrode. In order to solve this problem, the materials of the sensing electrode have been improved by adding gold to the platinum alloy. This is done due to the binding energy of gold to oxygen being relatively weak (as compared to platinum). Furthermore, we have modified the sensing electrode surface to suppress oxygen adsorption, by adding a layer of siloxane. As a result, the modified platinum alloy electrode detected the value close to theoretical potential, even if under oxygen coexistence.

The fault detection and isolation problem is studied for a class of nonlinear systems. Under structural conditions, a bank of High-Order Sliding-Mode observers is proposed. The value of the equivalent output injection is used for detecting and isolating particular faults in the system. The proposed method provides finite-time isolation of actuator and plant faults. Simulation results support the proposed approach.

The properties of electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMATs) for using the symmetrical vertical mode-(S-0) Lamb wave and the shear horizontal fundamental mode-(SH0) plate wave were experimentally studied. The EMAT, consisting of a meandering coil and an electromagnet, can effectively transmit and receive the S-0 mode Lamb wave and the SH0-mode plate wave in a thin metal plate. For ferromagnetic materials, such as steels, the magnetostriction is important for the transduction. The wave amplitude is not proportional to the static field strength, but is dependent on the magnetostrictive properties of the material. In this study, the amplitude and the phase of the S-0 mode Lamb wave and SH0 mode plate wave generated by the EMATs are measured while changing the static field strength to the sheets. The amplitude of the S-0-mode Lamb wave in a low carbon steel sheet initially decreases with a static field to the minimum value, then increases again accompanying the phase inversion by 180 degrees and finally decreases without any phase inversion. The amplitude of the SH0 mode plate wave in a low carbon steel sheet initially increases to the maximum value with the static field, then decreases to the minumum value and increases again accompanied by a phase inversion of about 90 degrees. These data were discussed on the basis of the magnetostrictive curve to the magnetizing current of an electromagnet in low carbon steel sheets.
