Tidal flooding has been a menace to the northern coastal area of Java, especially in Semarang City and Demak Regency. It happens continuously and the severity is worsened day by day. It becomes hazard for rural and urban areas hence mitigation efforts associated with coastal regions are required. Based on the situation, the present research wants to examine the need and the importance of adaptation strategy in flood prone areas. Several findings were reported and then recommended to the stakeholders to be implemented in policies and programs. The present research was conducted by using descriptive-qualitative method and purposive data sampling. The study area involved Panggung Lor in Semarang City and Sayung in Demak Regency. Analysis was carried out and conclusions were reported based on the findings. In overall, it can be concluded that these areas can adapt to tidal flooding.

The increasing of urban development and the decreasing of public awareness to environment promote flood every year for urban cities. Several lakes or ponds are sacrificed due to both urban development and landfilling. Bad habit of society to throw garbage to the lakes affects the society to think that the economic value of lakes could be increased by filling them with the land. These lead to make the lakes become vulnerable to sedimentation from urban activities. Universitas Indonesia as educational institution starts to develop how to manage sedimentation by hydrodynamics and sediment transport modelling. The research uses Resources Modelling Associates (RMA) program to run the model and Agathis Lake as the study area to perform the simulation. It is expected that the program output data could represent the field data, so the validation method should be conducted. The issue to validate the data would be problematic if simulation factors data could not accommodate real-world observed data. This study aims to employ Galerkin method to understand finite element method in Resources Modelling Associates program (RMA) in order to avoid black box when using it and to conduct a field study to perform calibration method of sediment transport modelling in the study area, Agathis Lake that is located in Universitas Indonesia.

Clustering is unsupervised classification method in the field of machine learning. c-varieties (CV) and c-regression (CR) are linear clustering that can find linear structures of a dataset. CV and CR are clustering algorithms that perform principal component analysis and regression analysis at the same time, respectively. By the way, when clustering is used in the actual society, there are situations where the number of objects in each cluster is restricted. In this paper, we propose new linear clustering algorithms with constraints on cluster size.

Effects of chemical treatment on the structure and morphology of bacterial cellulose film

Development of extraction process of Bacterial Cellulose (BC) using chemical treatment in order to be developed as reinforcement in the composite product to improve fiber compatibility of BC in polymer metric. This study aimed to know the effect of chemical treatment against the structure and morphology of BC film. The methods used to make a film from BC fiber obtained from pineapples’ peels waste. Pellicle was fermented for 14 days then washed by distilled water prior to treatment. Pellicle soaked in a chemical solution such as NaOH, H2O2, Bmimcl with each concentration of 2.5% for 2 hours then dried in the oven and the result was analyzed using SEM and XRD. The result showed that chemical treatment against BC decreased the intensity and crystallite size. On distilled water immersion (as control), the highest peak diffraction located in peak 22.63 °2θ with intensity of 292.31 counts, the crystallite size of 10.01 nm, after NaOH, H2O2 and BmimCl chemical treatment, the peak intensity decreased consecutively to 251.19 counts, 269.32 counts, and 241.49 counts as well as crystallite size decrease to 3.61 nm, 4.07 nm, and 5.11 nm, respectively. SEM observation showed that BC film treated using distilled water wasn’t damaged, while fiber and pellicle which treated using NaOH had a lot of damage.

Potassium recovery from banana peels by hydrothermal treatment

Banana peels is a material that can be used as a potassium source for organic fertilizer. Potassium fertilizer has a role in improving plants productivity. This research aims to determine the effect of hydrothermal temperature on the potassium concentration in hydrothermal liquid product and to find out the potential of zeolite in adsorbing potassium from the solution. Thus, there were two stage of experiment of potassium recovery here i.e. potassium extraction process from banana peel waste by a hydrothermal treatment in various temperature (150, 175 and 200°C) for 1 hour and the adsorption process of potassium in the liquid product by adding zeolite for 24 hours. The result shows that higher treatment temperature of will produce higher concentration of potassium in the solution while the highest potassium uptake is using 40 g of natural zeolite in 50 ml hydrothermal liquid product with the recovery is about 94%.

The Increase of universities quantity in Indonesia does not improve the quality. Vocational schools established to meet the needs of the industry. Evaluation of block lecture systems is needed to identify the mental workload and the physical workload felt by students. The research was conducted on 25 students of yarn making technique. The methods that used to measure mental workload is NASA-Tlx with 6 subscales. The physical workload is measured by the calculation of the pulse so the level of cardiovascular classification is known. The results of mental load measurement are only 4% of students who feel moderate mental workload level, while others have a high workload. Based on the identification of physical workload there are 20% of students who need improvement and the remaining 80% do not need improvement because it is not in the fatigue category. It can be said that it is necessary to evaluate the lecture system in terms of mental burden perceived by the students in order to produce competent graduates output according to the needs of today’s textile industry.

Design of an automatic production monitoring system on job shop manufacturing

Every production process requires monitoring system, so the desired efficiency and productivity can be monitored at any time. This system is also needed in the job shop type of manufacturing which is mainly influenced by the manufacturing lead time. Processing time is one of the factors that affect the manufacturing lead time. In a conventional company, the recording of processing time is done manually by the operator on a sheet of paper. This method is prone to errors. This paper aims to overcome this problem by creating a system which is able to record and monitor the processing time automatically. The solution is realized by utilizing electric current sensor, barcode, RFID, wireless network and windows-based application. An automatic monitoring device is attached to the production machine. It is equipped with a touch screen-LCD so that the operator can use it easily. Operator identity is recorded through RFID which is embedded in his ID card. The workpiece data are collected from the database by scanning the barcode listed on its monitoring sheet. A sensor is mounted on the machine to measure the actual machining time. The system’s outputs are actual processing time and machine’s capacity information. This system is connected wirelessly to a workshop planning application belongs to the firm. Test results indicated that all functions of the system can run properly. This system successfully enables supervisors, PPIC or higher level management staffs to monitor the processing time quickly with a better accuracy.

The empowering auction market for commodities in East Java Province is one of five auction market revitalization programs conducted by the Republic of Indonesia c.q. Ministry of Trading started in 2014. One of the districts in East Java Province, namely Magetan District utilizes the commodity auction market to improve the competitiveness of their agricultural industry by shortening the supply chain. The Magetan District needs to evaluate their support for farmers or farmer groups to participate in the forward auction market (FAM). Implementation of the FAM commodities is divided into three main processes, namely pre-auction, auction, and post-auction. The auction market is organized to shorten the trading chain. Implementation of the FAM requires good planning, among Seller (namely Farmer or Farmer Group), organizer of Auction (namely Commodity Auction Company), Buyer, and Local Government (namely the farmer facilitator). This article is aimed to develop the instrument of a Performance Measurement Model Using Important and Performance Analysis (IPA) for Improving the FAM Effectiveness of Agro Commodity from Magetan District with Supply Chain Management approach. IPA is implemented at pre-auction, auction, and post-auction. The IPA model results in the diagram to decide the strategies in improving the FAM effectiveness, and then it can encourage farmers to improve welfare and realize the competitiveness of the auctioneer.

The dynamic simulation model of soybean in Central Java to support food self sufficiency: A supply chain perspective

Consider food become one of the basic human needs in order to survive so food sufficiency become very important. Food sufficiency of soybean commodity in Central Java still depends on imported soybean. Insufficiency of soybean because of there is much gap between local soybean productions and its demand. In the year 2016 the shortage of supply soybean commodity as much 68.79%. Soybean is an important and strategic commodity after rice and corn. The increasing consumption of soybean is related to increasing population, increasing incomes, changing of healthy life style. The aims of this study are to determine the soybean dynamic model based on supply chain perspective, define the proper price of local soybean to trigger increasing of local production, and to define the alternative solution to support food self sufficiency. This study will capture the real condition into dynamics model, then simulate a series of scenario into a computer program to obtain the best results. This study will be conducted the following first scenario with government intervention policy and second without government intervention policy. The best solution of the alternative can be used as government consideration for governmental policy. The results of the propose scenarios showed that self sufficiency on soybean can be achieved after the next 20 years by increasing planting area 4% and land productivity 1% per year.

Supplier selection and order allocation using TOPSIS and linear programming method at Pt. Sekarlima Surakarta

PT. Sekarlima is a woven fabrics manufacturing company. One of the raw materials for fabric weaving process is yarn. To fulfill the demand for woven fabric the company faces some problems in supplier selection and the allocation of raw materials. Supplier selection and the allocation are essential to support the smoothness of the production process. To produce a good quality product the company needs a good planning system and integrated implementation, in accordance with production activities in which it cannot be separated from raw materials. Supplier selection is important in this activity, as it will determine the cost of production. The aims of this research are to determine a set of appropriatesuppliers of yarn using the TOPSIS method and allocate theyarn to selected suppliers using Linear programming model. TOPSIS is one of the multi-criteria decision methods in which the selected alternative determined by the closest distance of the ideal solution and has the furthest distance from the non-ideal solution using the Euclidean distance (the distance between two points) to determine the relative distance of the alternative. From the results of the analysis, there are 4 suppliers are selected, namely TYF, AGT, DLS, and APC. Five criteria are used in the supplier selection, namely quality, price, delivery, flexibility, and responsiveness. TOPSIS resulted in the order of rank of each supplier TYF, AGT, DLS, and APC is 0.52, 0.48, 0.48, and 0.23 respectively. The order allocation from a linear programming model for each supplier is 1088. 64 kg, 870.91 kg, 526.18 kg, and 54.43 kg.
