Gas-Solid flow finds its application in various industries such as chemical and food processes, pharmaceuticals, automobile and power generation. The precise measurement and real-time monitoring of the flow process have garnered a lot of attraction in the modern industrial era. The effective utilization, with high efficiency, of the resources have compelled the researchers to investigate Gas-Solid flow monitoring and measurement process for the last two decades. Efforts are extended to design instruments for flow pattern visualization and quantification of mass flow rate. Generally, volumetric flow concentration and velocity profile of the solid particles are required to find the mass flow rate (MRF) in the case of non-invasive measurement techniques. This paper proposes a novel non-invasive mass flow rate measurement system for solid particles where electrical and mechanical sensors are simultaneously used to compensate each other's associated drawbacks. The solid particles are allowed to slide along an insulated inclined channel under the effect of gravity. The velocity profile and volumetric flow concentration are calculated using electrical sensors. Furthermore, load cell serves as a second sensor to calculate the mass flow rate. The experimental results from both the sensors are compared to investigate the accuracy and relative errors of both the sensors under different conditions. © 2020 IEEE.

In recent work, Akers et al. [arXiv:2306.06163] proved that the entanglement of purification Ep(A:B) is bounded below by half of the q-Rényi reflected entropy SR(q)(A:B) for all q≥2, showing that Ep(A:B)=12SR(q)(A:B) for a class of random tensor-network states. Naturally, the authors raise the question of whether a similar bound holds at q=1. Our work answers that question in the negative by finding explicit counterexamples, which we arrive at through numerical optimization. Nevertheless, this result does not preclude the possibility that restricted sets of states, such as conformal field theory states with semiclassical gravity duals, could obey the bound in question.

Vision-based occupancy prediction, also known as 3D Semantic Scene Completion (SSC), presents a significant challenge in computer vision. Previous methods, confined to onboard processing, struggle with simultaneous geometric and semantic estimation, continuity across varying viewpoints, and single-view occlusion. Our paper introduces OccFiner, a novel offboard framework designed to enhance the accuracy of vision-based occupancy predictions. OccFiner operates in two hybrid phases: 1) a multi-to-multi local propagation network that implicitly aligns and processes multiple local frames for correcting onboard model errors and consistently enhancing occupancy accuracy across all distances. 2) the region-centric global propagation, focuses on refining labels using explicit multi-view geometry and integrating sensor bias, especially to increase the accuracy of distant occupied voxels. Extensive experiments demonstrate that OccFiner improves both geometric and semantic accuracy across various types of coarse occupancy, setting a new state-of-the-art performance on the SemanticKITTI dataset. Notably, OccFiner elevates vision-based SSC models to a level even surpassing that of LiDAR-based onboard SSC models. Furthermore, OccFiner is the first to achieve automatic annotation of SSC in a purely vision-based approach. Quantitative experiments prove that OccFiner successfully facilitates occupancy data loop-closure in autonomous driving. Additionally, we quantitatively and qualitatively validate the superiority of the offboard approach on city-level SSC static maps. An era of precision agriculture has started and its benefits to the human beings are assumed to be more. Now a days modern agriculture requires the usage of new technologies for getting higher yields. Currently Internet of Things (IoT) plays an innovative role in agricultural practices. IoT is a flexible network of sensor nodes which senses the data from physical environment and send it to the sink node for further process. Transmitting the data from sensor nodes to the sink node or Base Station is an important parameter in the IoT network. There is need to find the ways which makes the design and use of routing protocols and algorithms wherever possible for improving the automation in the agriculture. Precision Agriculture is nothing but bringing the automation in agriculture in such a way that its working happens autonomously in the situation where the involvement of human being is very hard. The life time of sensor node is restricted in IoT network. So, there is need to follow such an approach which dissipate as less as possible energy of nodes. While the transmission of data among the nodes energy aware and efficient routing protocols are necessary. There are various approaches of clustering algorithms exist to optimize the energy of routing protocols. Besides this there is a scope to pay attention on the latency, network life time, throughput etc. This paper addresses the features and limitations of existing cluster based routing protocols in the IoT assisted Precision Agriculture.

Machine learning framework for quantum sampling of highly constrained, continuous optimization problems

In recent years, there is growing interest in using quantum computers for solving combinatorial optimization problems. In this work, we developed a generic, machine learning-based framework for mapping continuous-space inverse design problems into surrogate quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) problems by employing a binary variational autoencoder and a factorization machine. The factorization machine is trained as a low-dimensional, binary surrogate model for the continuous design space and sampled using various QUBO samplers. Using the D-Wave Advantage hybrid sampler and simulated annealing, we demonstrate that by repeated resampling and retraining of the factorization machine, our framework finds designs that exhibit figures of merit exceeding those of its training set. We showcase the framework's performance on two inverse design problems by optimizing (i) thermal emitter topologies for thermophotovoltaic applications and (ii) diffractive meta-gratings for highly efficient beam steering. This technique can be further scaled to leverage future developments in quantum optimization to solve advanced inverse design problems for science and engineering applications.

Active reconfigurable intelligent surface (ARIS) is a promising way to compensate for multiplicative fading attenuation by amplifying and reflecting event signals to selected users. This paper investigates the performance of ARIS assisted non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks over cascaded Nakagami-m fading channels. The effects of hardware impairments (HIS) and reflection coefficients on ARIS-NOMA networks with imperfect successive interference cancellation (ipSIC) and perfect successive interference cancellation (pSIC) are considered. More specifically, we develop new precise and asymptotic expressions of outage probability and ergodic data rate with ipSIC/pSIC for ARIS-NOMA-HIS networks. According to the approximated analyses, the diversity orders and multiplexing gains for couple of non-orthogonal users are attained in detail. Additionally, the energy efficiency of ARIS-NOMA-HIS networks is surveyed in delay-limited and delay-tolerant transmission schemes. The simulation findings are presented to demonstrate that: i) The outage behaviors and ergodic data rates of ARIS-NOMA-HIS networks precede that of ARIS aided orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and passive reconfigurable intelligent surface (PRIS) aided OMA;ii) As the reflection coefficient of ARIS increases, ARIS-NOMA-HIS networks have the ability to provide the strengthened outage performance;and iii) ARIS-NOMA-HIS networks are more energy efficient than ARIS/PRIS-OMA networks and conventional cooperative schemes. Biodegradation of Benzo[A]Pyrene By a Marine Chlorella Vulgaris Lh-1 with Heterotrophic Ability

In this study, a microalga, Chlorella vulgaris LH-1, with heterotrophic ability to degrade benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) was explored. The effect of BaP concentration on microalga growth was investigated, and the possible biodegradation mechanism of BaP was proposed. Results showed that 5 mg/L had a significant inhibitory effect on its growth. During heterotrophic cultivation, 20 mg/L BaP inhibited its growth significantly. The expression of functional enzyme genes of LH-1 such as phenol 2-monooxygenase activity, protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase activity, catechol 1,2-dioxygenase activity, styrene degradation, and benzoate degradation were upregulated in the process of BaP degradation. The degradation of BaP by this microalga under mixotrophic condition goes through the degradation pathway of phthalic acid, whereas it goes through the degradation pathway of benzoic acid under heterotrophic condition. © 2023, The Authors. A wheelchair is a specialized form of Personal Mobility Vehicle (PMV) designed to help people with disabilities move safely to their desired locations. Unlike conventional PMVs, wheelchairs for people with disabilities are challenging to manually control in environments with heavy traffic. This study focuses on designing and feasibility testing of control systems for PMVs to meet safety and efficiency standards, even in complex environments. First, a control structure model for PMVs is proposed. This is followed by the application of a combination of First In First Out (FIFO) and Dijkstra traffic control methods to determine effective trajectories for PMVs. The proposed control system is then tested on the campus of the University of Transport and Communications. Simulation results show that when comparing the travel time of 10 PMVs, the order execution time for each PMV remains stable (within 10%) for up to 20 PMVs. However, when the number of PMVs increases to 25, 30, 35, and 40 vehicles, the order execution time increases by 35%, 55%, 103%, and 119%, respectively. These results demonstrate that the system can control a large number of PMVs, ensuring safety, flexibility, and efficiency. © 2024 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. New picture fuzzy entropy in regarding to multi-criteria decision making application

Picture Fuzzy sets (PFSs) are as an extension of Intuitionistic Fuzzy sets (IFSs) which conquered the disadvantages of IFSs. The entropy of PFSs is a measure of vagueness linked to the Pythagorean fuzzy sets and in the present investigation, we constructed a new entropy measure under the PFSs as an extension of fuzzy entropy of IFSs. In contrast by the previous entropy measures, our new proposed entropy proves to be simpler and more reliable. It reflects excellent fuzzy characteristics. After that, we provide a numerical example in order to compare our proposed entropy with the previous entropy measure and thus, from the results, it has been found that our new proposed entropy measure is more reliable than the previous existing entropy measure. We also developed a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) TOPSIS based model with calculated weights on the groundwork of new proposed entropy measure. The illustrative example shows the practical efficiency of new information measure for PFSs.
