A prediction approach based on long short-term memory networks for dynamic multiobjective optimization

Dynamic multiobjective optimization problems (DMOPs) present significant challenges to conventional evolutionary optimization methods because of the continuous changes in their Pareto-optimal sets (PSs) and fronts (PFs). Prediction-driven approaches have demonstrated potential in rapidly adapting to these changes. However, many existing methods depend on linear models to forecast the evolving PSs, which may be restrictive. To counteract this limitation, this research presents a novel dynamic multiobjective evolutionary optimization algorithm that incorporates predictions from long short-term memory (LSTM) networks. Initially, in our methodology, the PS for each problem is segmented into multiple clusters, and the centroid of each cluster is identified. These cluster centroids, representing the PSs across various environmental conditions, are then transformed into a series of time series data. The LSTM network models are subsequently trained on this time series data as input samples. Utilizing these refined models, the centroids of the evolving PSs are predicted with improved precision. Moreover, to enhance the performance of the algorithm, an innovative population-generation strategy is also introduced that guarantees a well-converged and diverse starting population. Our proposed algorithm undergoes rigorous testing using benchmark functions, and the outcomes validate its proficiency in tackling DMOPs, showing superior performance compared to existing state-of-the-art algorithms. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

This study investigated the oil pollution remediation ability of konjac glucomannan (KGM) aerogel immobilized Chlorella vulgaris LH-1 (C. vulgaris). The KGM aerogel exhibited a high porosity of 86.83 %, and with the change of crude oil concentration (1–10 g/L), the crude oil adsorption efficiency of KGM aerogel was up to 18.75 %. The KGM aerogel carrier enhanced the crude oil biodegradation efficiency of C. vulgaris by 13.86 %. The concentration of residual n-alkanes of the immobilized C. vulgaris group was only 36.83 % of that of the free C. vulgaris group after 14 days of cultivation. In the crude oil metabolites of immobilized C. vulgaris, the concentrations of benzoic acid, phthalic acid, and benzophenone were 1.35, 21.18 and 3.43 times higher than those of the free C. vulgaris, respectively. Compared with free C. vulgaris group, 9 monooxygenase genes, 11 dioxygenase genes and 2 cytochrome P450 genes of immobilized C. vulgaris group were up-regulation and the "hydrocarbon metabolism process" was significantly enriched (enrichment factor is 0.85) in the gene ontology (GO) analysis of the transcriptome of C. vulgaris. These results showed that the ability of C. vulgaris to degrade crude oil was improved due to the existence of the KGM aerogel immobilized carrier. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

The paper deals with the reaction of the vehicle operator's organism to external vibration and the development of a monitoring system at the early stages of vibration effects. The choice of wavelet transform as the main method of signal processing is justified. The zones of organism reaction to external overloads are singled out, and the application of Gaussian mother wavelets for electroencephalogram analysis, except Morlet wavelet, at vibration impact on the vehicle operator is evaluated. Experimental work was carried out on the EGV 10–100 stand of the vibromechanics laboratory of IMASH RAS.

Deep learning (DL) has shown great potential for enhancing channel state information (CSI) feedback in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems, a subject currently under study by the 3GPP standards body. Digital twins (DTs) have emerged as an effective means to generate site-specific datasets for training DL-based CSI feedback models. However, most existing studies rely solely on simulations, leaving the effectiveness of DTs in reducing DL training costs yet to be validated through realistic experimental setups. This paper addresses this gap by establishing a real-world (RW) environment and corresponding virtual channels using ray tracing with replicated 3D models and accurate antenna properties. We evaluate whether models trained in DT environments can effectively operate in RW scenarios and quantify the benefits of online learning (OL) for performance enhancement. Results show that a dedicated DT remains essential even with OL to achieve satisfactory performance in RW scenarios. © 2012 IEEE.

LP-YOLO: An improved lightweight pedestrian detection algorithm based on YOLOv11

Pedestrian detection in complex urban environments poses significant challenges due to occlusions, scale variation, and background clutter. Given the growing demand for real-time inference on edge devices, the development of lightweight yet accurate detection models has become increasingly critical. This paper proposes Lightweight Pedestrian You Only Look Once (LP-YOLO), an improved neural network architecture based on YOLOv11n and optimized for urban pedestrian detection. The LP-YOLO model incorporates an enhanced Faster Implementation of CSP Bottleneck with Spatial Channel convolutions (C3k2SC) module to reduce redundancy in feature extraction across both spatial and channel dimensions, thereby enhancing feature representation. Additionally, the Spatial-channel decoupled Downsampling (SCDown) module facilitates lightweight downsampling, effectively reducing computational complexity and model size. Furthermore, an improved Feature Fusion Receptive-field Attention Convolution (FFRFA) module is integrated into the Neck to enhance feature fusion through the receptive-field attention mechanism, thereby improving small-object detection performance. Experiments on the CityPersons dataset show that LP-YOLO reduces parameters by 24.8% and computational cost by 7.94% compared to YOLOv11n, while improving [email protected] by 1.6%. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in reducing computational demands while preserving or enhancing detection performance.

More efficient automatic repair of large-scale programs using weak recompilation

Automatically repairing a bug can be a time-consuming process especially for large-scale programs owing to the significant amount of time spent recompiling and reinstalling the patched *** reduce this time overhead and speed up the repair process,in this paper we present a recompilation technique called weak *** weak recompilation,we assume that a program consists of a set of components,and for each candidate patch only the altered components are recompiled to a shared *** original program is then dynamically updated by a function indirection *** advantage of weak recompilation is that redundant recompilation cost can be avoided,and while the reinstallation cost is completely eliminated as the original executable program is not modified at *** maximum applicability of weak recompilation we created WAutoRepair,a scalable system for fixing bugs with high efficiency in large-scale C *** experiments on real bugs in widely used programs show that our repair system significantly outperforms Genprog,a wellknown approach to automatic program *** the wireshark program containing over 2 million lines of code,WAutoRepair is over 128 times faster in terms of recompilation cost than Genprog.

This paper considers a distributed LQR design framework for a multi-agent network consisting of identical dynamically decoupled agents. A systematic method is presented for computing the performance loss of various distributed control configurations relative to the performance of the optimal centralized controller. Necessary and sufficient conditions have been derived for which a distributed control configuration pattern arising from the optimal centralizing solution does not entail loss of performance if the initial vector lies in a certain subspace of state-space which is identified. It was shown that these conditions are always satisfied for systems with communication/control networks corresponding to complete graphs with a single link removed. A procedure is extended for analyzing the performance loss of an arbitrary distributed configuration which is illustrated by an exhaustive analysis of a network consisting of agents described by second-order integrator dynamics. Presented results are useful for quantifying performance loss due to decentralization and for designing optimal or near-optimal distributed control schemes. © 2015

In real-world industrial scenarios, fault detection faces the widely recognized challenge of data imbalance, which not only refers to the scarcity of fault data but also includes the imbalance in healthy data. This article is concerned with imbalanced open-set fault detection (IOSFD), a practical yet challenging scenario in industrial applications where multiple healthy operating conditions and multiple fault types are imbalanced. In this article, we propose a new contrastive conditional adversarial autoencoder for IOSFD. It constructs an end-to-end unified model based on multi-class known healthy and faulty data to address the reliance of traditional methods on fault samples, while optimizing with class-specific weighted forces to ensure equal attention to imbalanced known classes. Input and feature reconstruction conditioned on operating modes are utilized to learn a compact decision plane and achieve both unknown fault detection and known data classification. Significantly, we formulate the optimization objective of conditional reconstruction based on contrastive learning and introduce adversarial training to further enhance the model’s performance. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through real-world pipeline leak detection and Tennessee-Eastman multi-fault detection. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

A Reactive COLREGs-Compliant Navigation Strategy for Autonomous Maritime Navigation

This paper reports the development of an automatic collision avoidance technique for unmanned marine vessel incorporating standard collision regulations or COLREGs, defined by the International Maritime Organisation. Like any ship, all unmanned vessels must adhere to COLREGs at all times in order to minimise or eliminate the risk of collisions. The proposed approach is essentially a reactive path planning algorithm based on a modified well known Artificial Potential Fields (APF) framework. It is shown through simulations that the proposed strategy is able to generate COLREGs-compliant trajectories in the presence of both stationary and dynamic obstacles. Rules 13, 14 and 15 of the COLREGs, which apply to the overtaking, head-on and crossing scenarios respectively, are simulated for multiple dynamic vessels in an environment inclusive of land features. © 2016
