For the edge turbulence is important for the density limit and plasma confinement, a gas puffing imaging (GPI) diagnostic was proposed for J-TEXT tokamak to measure the two-dimensional turbulence in the edge region. GPI diagnostic makes use the neural gas puffing at plasma edge to increase the local visible light emission for improved temporal-spatial resolution of image for plasma fluctuations [1], [2]. On another hand, the neutral gas should be concentrated in the observation area with limit disturbance to the plasma as much as possible. So, a good performance gas puffing system is important for GPI diagnostic. This manuscript introduces the design of gas puffing system for J-TEXT GPI, including the hardware of gas line, puffing novel and remote-control unit. Test results are also presented to show the performance of this gas puffing system. © 2020 IEEE.

In downhole applications, it is promising to use direct-drive permanent magnet motors instead of traditional asynchronous motor plus reducer, from the viewpoint of efficiency and reliability. Because of the advantages of simple structure and high torque density, permanent magnet vernier motor is very suitable for low speed and high torque applications.A permanent magnet vernier motor(PMVM) with consequent pole rotor is designed by finite element method, and several important parameters influencing the performance are investigated. The simulation results show that compared with the surface mounted PMVM designed earlier, the consequent pole structure not only meets the requirements of torque density, but also improves the reliability of the rotor structure and saves the consumption of permanent magnets by 47%. © 2020 IEEE.

A detection system based on electro-optical(EO) sampling is designed for the established high-power, wide-band and wave-tunable FEL-THz source at Huazhong University of Science and technology (HUST). The phase mismatch and dispersion propagation of the femtosecond laser pulse in the crystal are the main reasons that cause the distortion of the EO signal. We theoretically calculate and analyze the mixing process of the probe pulse and THz pulse in the crystal. Calculating the coherence length to find the suitable center wavelength probe for different detected crystals (ZnTe, Gap, GaAs). In addition, our simulation results show that the broadband laser can eliminate the effect caused by phase mismatch between the THz phase velocity and the group velocity of the laser in different crystals (ZnTe, Gap, GaAs). Moreover, the experiment results of 3-mm-thick ZnTe with sampling laser of 100nm bandwidth agree the simulation results well. The research is meaningful for optimizing the EO sampling system in the future. © 2020 IEEE.

Lightning is one of the important causes of transmission line tripping. In order to improve the effectiveness of transmission line risk assessment and provide reference for lightning protection design, it is necessary to study the key geographical factors affecting lightning tripping. In this paper, firstly, the geographical features such as altitude, slope, slope aspect, slope position and land type of the tower are extracted by using ArcGIS geographic software, and then the association rules are used to study the relationship between various geographical factors and lightning tripping. Finally, the entropy method is used to calculate the weight of various geographical factors on lightning tripping and determine the key factors. After calculation, the influence weight of slope on lightning tripping is 0.49, which accounts for the largest weight among geographical factors, so the influence of slope on lightning tripping should be considered in lightning protection design. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper investigates the security-constrained bidding strategy of the emerging shared transportation hubs for renewable fuels and refined oil (STH-RRs) participating within energy, regulation and pipeline logistics markets. Firstly, to excavate more flexible capability for the power system as well as to increase the revenue of the STH-RR operation company, the model for STH-RR participating in regulation market is established. Secondly, the security-constrained two-stage bidding model is first proposed for STH-RRs to balance the revenue across energy, regulation and pipeline logistics markets. Particularly, to guarantee secure operation of STH-RRs and meet the delivery demand, the rigorous multi-product transportation constraints are considered in both stages. Case studies based on the modified real-world multi-product pipelines in South China validate the proposed method, with the revenue and turnover increase of 14% and 4.7%, respectively, compared with conventional methods.

China's energy structure determines that the pattern of using coal as the main form of energy will not change in the long term, how to reduce particulate emissions is an urgent problem to solve. This paper builds an experimental system that can measure the average particle charge, and examines the effects of discharge form, electrode spacing, wire-plate spacing, and particle type on the particle charge. The results show that close electrode spacing decreases the charge and has a limited effect on the particle charge at longer distances;At the same electric field intensity, the charge is higher at long pitch high voltages than at narrow pitch low voltages;Particles with different resistivities have approximately the same charge under the same experimental conditions;For particles smaller than 0.1 μm, the charge in the form of pulse and DC discharge can reach about 4 times that in the form of single discharge. © 2020 IEEE.

The extensive access of multiple types of Distributed Generation (DG) units such as wind power and micro gas turbines has significantly changed the structural and operational characteristics of the distribution network, bringing severe challenges to the unified regulation of system resources. In order to realize the coordinated and optimized operation of multiple types of DGs in the system, this paper proposes a distributed robust scheduling strategy of Multi-Energy Coupling Active Distribution Network (MECADN). Firstly, a global robust scheduling model of MECADN is established adapting an enhanced adjustable robust method. Secondly, based on the framework of adaptive step size alternative direction method of multipliers, the global scheduling model is decomposed into two sub-problems corresponding to the clusters of electrical DGs and heat DGs to obtain the distributed scheduling model of MECADN. The solving method of the distributed scheduling model is studied, too. Simulation results based on actual network parameters verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheduling strategy. © 2020 IEEE.

High-precision AC power supplies have important applications in the fields of precision manufacturing, precision measurement and medical industry. However, traditional linear power amplifiers are difficult to achieve high power and small size due to low efficiency. Switching power supplies can solve this problem, but are difficult to achieve high precision for errors such as dead zone etc. The delta-sigma modulation in audio can suppress error effectively but are not widely used in inverter for its engineering debugging complexity, poor accuracy in higher power and difficulties during digitalization. The article analyzes its error suppression performance in analog and digital model to simplify engineering debug. It gives a math analysis of the accuracy potential and improvements with PID control in outer loop, which helps improve accuracy in higher power. Difficulties of digital delta-sigma are analyzed in detail and an integration solution is given in simulation and experiment, which helps understand where is the problem in digitalization. A platform is built with analog delta-sigma inner loop + digital PID outer loop. Experiments show that the voltage THD within 0.1% can be achieved under no-load and light-load conditions ( © 2020 IEEE.

Wind power resources are remotely distributed in China. The fixed series compensation (FSC) is one of the traditional methods to solve the problem of long-distance power transmission of the doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) based wind farm. The introduction of FSC will bring potential sub-synchronous oscillation (SSO) risks to the power system. With the development of flexible AC transmission system (FACTS), thyristor-controlled series compensation (TCSC) has become an effective substitute for FSC due to its suppression effect on sub-synchronous oscillation. This paper mainly studied the natural and active suppression effect of TCSC on sub-synchronous oscillation of grid integrated DFIG. Based on the frequency scanning method, the impedance characteristics of TCSC and DFIG were obtained to study the natural suppression effect of TCSC, and some key parameters were discussed. However, when the system was particularly weak, the natural suppression might not keep the system stable. Thus, an additional sub-synchronous oscillation damping control (SSDC) was proposed as active suppression of TCSC, which could further enhance the stability of system. The frequency scanning results showed that the SSDC could effectively improve system stability. Finally, the electromagnetic transient simulation results in PSCAD/EMTDC verified the above conclusions. © 2020 IEEE.

In this paper, the selective harmonic elimination (SHE) strategy for cascaded digital power amplifier is derived and proposed. To solve the problem of slow iteration speed or even non-convergence of the traditional iterative method when the number of levels or the number of harmonic elimination equations is large, a new solution method based on "interior point method"is introduced. In practical application the dead-time cannot be avoided, so the impact of dead-time on selective harmonic elimination strategy is also analyzed. Based on the relationship between output voltage and current during dead-time, the control method of "flexible insertion of dead-time on line"is proposed, which can significantly weaken the dead-time effect on selective harmonic elimination strategy in practice. © 2020 IEEE.
