Huazhong University of Science and technology is building a proton therapy facility (HUST-PTF) based on a superconducting cyclotron, known as the HUST-PTF. This facility is designed to use high-energy proton beam to treat cancer precisely, thereby improving the treatment effects by reducing damage to healthy tissues. The scintillation system is an essential part of the beam diagnostic system, primarily consisting of the scintillation base, CCD camera, scintillation screen, and pneumatic devices. By capturing the beam spot on the scintillation screen with a camera and using LabVIEW software for image processing and data fitting, the position information of the beam can be calculated. By comparing with the theoretical calculation values, it provides guidance and reference for beam commissioning personnel. Some important beam parameter information is also locally saved for future retrieval and analysis.

Simulation of positive streamer propagation in an air gap with a GFRP composite barrier

The increasing integration of cyber-physical systems has markedly amplified the vulnerability of power systems to False Data Injection Attacks (FDIAs), posing significant threats to their security and reliability. FDIAs can emulate various power system dynamics, each with distinct objectives, potentially leading to incorrect decisions by operators or causing damage that may go undetected initially. The impact of these attacks often hinges on their specific signatures, which reflect the temporal characteristics of the injected data waveforms. Therefore, precise classification of these attack signatures is essential for predicting their potential effects and devising effective countermeasures. This paper addresses this challenge by proposing the use of the VGG16 network, a deep learning model commonly utilized in computer vision, to classify the attack signatures. Leveraging VGG16's ability to identify complex patterns in data, the pro-posed method offers a robust solution for distinguishing between different types of FDIAs. Experimental validation on the IEEE 39-bus system confirms the effectiveness of this approach in improving the detection and classification of FDIAs.

Since transverse emittance serves as a critical parameter for evaluating the performance of an electron-beam injector, accurate emittance measurement directly affects the engineering realization of not only the injector but also the entire accelerator-based facility involved. Based on the typical beam injector developed at Huazhong University of Science and technology (HUST injector), the quadrupole magnet scanning (Q-scanning) method is employed for emittance measurement. Suitable selections are made for the existing devices within the beamline, which reduce the measurement errors associated with emittance. An analysis is conducted on the selected quadrupole magnets (Q-magnets), along with an examination of the impact of fringe fields on emittance measurements, including the effects of different edge field conditions and the direct representation of fringe fields in the transfer matrix. The analysis results clearly demonstrate the importance of device selection in the Q-scanning method and the direct effects of fringe fields on various aspects.

Quadrupole magnet is an important element in the beam transport and manipulation. Permanent magnet quadrupole (PMQ) lenses appear frequently in various beamline attributed to their compact structure. In this paper, a method applicable to the fringing field transformation of a short permanent magnet quadrupole lens is proposed. The large electron beam envelope error, which occurs during the focusing process of short PMQ lenses, has been addressed. This achieved by replacing sharp cut-off fringing field with multi-rectangle cut-off fringing field. The causes of fringe field transformation errors are investigated by theoretical calculations of beam dynamics. The law of magnetic field gradient curve change of a short PMQ lens is analyzed. The scale parameters in the multi-rectangle approximation method are optimized by multi-particle tracking and finite element simulation. Applying the method to PMQ lenses of varying mechanical lengths confirms the feasibility and universality of the multi-rectangle approximation method for PMQ fringe field transformation.

Low-energy electron curtain accelerators are widely used in the field of radiation processing. In this paper, the model of the cathode emission assembly of the multi-filament electron curtain accelerator is established by CST simulation software, and the influence of the duty ratio and grid width of the semi-cylindrical control grid on the current emission characteristics of the cathode assembly is explored. It is found that the larger the duty ratio of the control grid and the wider the mesh grid width, the emission current and the current drawn at control grid increase. Especially when the width of mesh grid reaches 3mm, the current emission characteristics of the cathode assembly no longer conform to the three-half law. The research work in this paper has reference significance for the construction and design of cathode assembly.

Compared to 3rd-generation light sources, 4th-generation SR light sources improve the brightness by reducing the emittance of the electron beam. To ensure the extremely low emittance of electron beams, it is necessary to provide more accurate beam position measurement. In this paper, we present a design of Button Beam position monitor (BPM) for a diffraction-limited storage ring in the low-energy region of the 4th-generation light source. The main work is focused on optimizing the physical design and mechanical structure of BPM feedthroughs, by minimizing the wakefield caused by electron beam and maximizing the voltage signals picked up by the electrodes. The design results improve the BPM position measurement resolution to meet the target of measurement requirements. This work is fundamental for the subsequent development of BPM electronics and fast orbit feedback system. © 2022 IEEE.

The increasingly frequent severe convective weather poses a serious threat to the reliability of distribution networks. In this regard, an optimal maintenance model that considers pre-disaster defense and post-disaster mitigation stages is proposed to meet the demand for resilience enhancement. During the pre-disaster defense stage, the equipment maintenance plan and the corresponding operation strategy are decided in conjunction with the failure probability of each device. During the post-disaster mitigation stage, the emergency dispatch strategy of the grid is developed considering the diversity of damage results. On these bases, the optimal pre-disaster maintenance strategy considering post-disaster situations is identified by integrating the two stages' outage losses and operating costs. Finally, the numerical results show that the proposed strategy can give an optimal maintenance plan by combining the fragility of each device, which effectively improves the outage prevention and management capability of the distribution network under severe convective weather.

Designing flexible free-standing air-electrode with efficient OER/ORR performance is of vital importance for the application of Zinc-air batteries in flexible ***,a flexible free-standing electrode(Ni/Fe-NC/NCF/CC)is synthesized by in-situ coupling of binary Ni/Fe-NC nanocubes and N-doped carbon nanofibers(NCF)rooted on carbon *** highly dispersed binary Ni/Fe-NC sites ensure excellent ORR activity and create efficient OER active sites relative to Ni-NC and *** in-situ coupling of Ni/Fe-NC and NCF constructs a 3D interconnected network structure that not only provides abundant and stabilized reactive sites but also guarantees fast electron transfer and gas transportation,thus achieving efficient and fast operation of ORR/***,Ni/Fe-NC/NCF/CC displays a much positive potential(0.952 V)at 4.0 mA cm^(-2)for ORR and a low OER overpotential(310 mV)at 50 mA cm^(-2).The Zinc-air battery with Ni/Fe-NC/NCF/CC air-electrode exhibits excellent battery performance with outstanding discharge/charge durability for 2150 *** flexible Zn-air batteries with foldable mechanical properties display a high power density of 105.0 mW cm^(-2).This work widened the way to prepare flexible bifunctional air-electrode by designing composition/structure and in-situ coupling.

Under the background of carbon peaking, carbon neutrality and integrated development of transportation and energy, and in view of the current situation of high emission and high energy consumption in expressway service area (ESA), an optimization operation model of integrated energy system (IES) including gas turbine, wind, photovoltaic, energy storage system and hydrogen is established with the lowest system operation cost and energy purchase cost as the objective function, which introduces power to gas and fuel cell to achieve bidirectional coupling of electricity and hydrogen. Then this paper takes a large expressway service area in the northwest of China as an example and sets different scenarios for example analysis. The simulation results show that the total operation cost of the system is greatly reduced and the utilization rate of renewable energy is effectively increased, which indicate that the proposed model can improve the system operation economy, green and low carbon development, and diverse interactivity while meeting the energy requirements of electricity and hydrogen in expressway service area. It has significant application value in promoting sustainable development in the fields of transportation, energy and power. © 2023 IEEE.
