Inverter interfaced distributed generator (IIDG) is connected to the distribution network in the form of T-connected, which changes the operating characteristics of single power flow direction in the traditional distribution network, and makes the traditional three-stage current protection no longer applicable. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved longitudinal protection method for T-connected inverter distributed power distribution networks. The control strategy of IIDG is analyzed, and the analysis method in a distribution network is given. On this basis, an improved criterion of longitudinal protection is proposed. The proposed criterion can sensitively identify internal and external faults that is not affected by DGs. Simulation results of PSCAD verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2021 IEEE.

Aiming at the difficulty of CT polarity checking of MMC-HVDC converter station transformer, a method for CT polarity checking based on waveform comparison and instantaneous power theory is proposed. The transient current during the process of the converter transformer and the converter valve charging is analyzed, and the polarity of the zero-sequence differential protection and the longitudinal differential protection is checked by comparing the crossing transient current on both sides of the protection based on the longest common subsequence (LCSS) distance. At the same time, the instantaneous active power during the converter valve deblock is used to check the polarity of directional protection. This method can not only check the polarity of longitudinal differential protection and zero-sequence differential protection, but also can check the polarity of directional protection, and the reversed phase of CT can be found out. Moreover, it can withstand a certain degree of ratio error and phase error of CT. The simulation verifies the effectiveness and applicability of the method. © 2021 IEEE.

Energy storage as a special market player has different characteristics compared with other market players like generators and load in the electricity market. In this paper, we built a bilevel scheduling model, the upper-level model aims for maximum profit of pumped hydro storage (PHS) and the lower-level model is the market clearing process. We use the KKT conditions to transform the bilevel model into a single-level model. Then, the objective function is linearized by the strong duality condition, and the equations of the KKT conditions are linearized by the big M method. The original bilevel model is finally transformed into a single-level mixed integer linear problem and can be solved by commercial solver such as CPLEX. The results show that the PHS would get the maximum profit when it bids at the locational marginal price (LMP) for both charging and discharging. © 2022 IEEE.

The series active power filter based on magnetic flux compensation (MFC-APF) may lead to low-frequency oscillation of the amplitude of power grid current in the transient process. In the previous research, it has been found that the equivalent impedance of MFC-APF will show obvious negative damping characteristic in the low frequency range higher than the fundamental frequency. This paper analyzes that it may act together with the load impedance to make the system resonate. After simplifying the system reasonably, the transfer function model of system equivalent admittance including MFC-APF and the load is established. The analysis results of the model show that the amplitude of the equivalent admittance has a resonant peak near the fundamental frequency, resulting in the corresponding harmonic component of the current in the dynamic process, which is manifested as the low-frequency oscillation of the current amplitude. Finally, according to the impedance characteristics of MFC-APF, an improvement method is proposed, and effectiveness of the proposed model and method are verified by simulation in Matlab/Simulink. © 2022 IEEE.

Sodium(Na)metal batteries(SMBs)have emerged as promising alternatives to lithium metal batteries for large-scale energy storage applications,owing to their cost-effectiveness,abundance,and favorable redox ***,the practical implementation of SMBs faces several challenges associated with the Na metal anode,including the formation of dendrites,low Coulombic efficiency,and capacity ***,we propose a novel approach to enhance the electrochemical performance of Na metal anodes through a porous Al-Cu alloy host(PAC)fabricated by a local eutectic melting *** local eutectic melting facilitates the development of a conductive network,offering mechanical support,and the porous structure provides abundant channels for the diffusion of Na ions and accommodates volume fluctuations in the Na metal during charge–discharge ***,the PAC exhibits a high average Coulombic efficiency of 99.8%at 1 mA·cm^(−2)for 1 mAh·cm^(−2)and a low voltage polarization of 19 mV during 500 *** study provides valuable insight into the design and fabrication of highperformance Na metal anodes,which hold significant promise for the advancements of next-generation energy storage systems.

With the development of silicon carbide devices, the use of low-voltage Silicon Carbide (SiC) Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET) in series has become an option in medium/high voltage applications, but it introduces voltage imbalance problem and SiC MOSFETs suffer the great voltage peak stresses as well as the extremely high dv/dts. This brings great challenges to the insulation design of the gate driver circuit. In this study, based on the strategy of adjusting the driving signal time delay, an active gate driver is designed, it can not only reduce the design of sampling isolation through the 'floating ground' but also reduce the requirement for the coupling capacitance of the isolated power supply. Finally, the proposed active gate driver circuit is verified through experiments. © 2021 IEEE.

Enzyme immobilization is a splendid way in a majority of industrial processes. However, traditional technologies still remain some defects, like multiple steps, vigorous chemical reaction with carrier surface, etc. Plasma material surface modification is a novel and convenient way for enzyme immobilization on polymer materials. Up till now, very little has been reported for lipase immobilization on natural bacteria cellulose by using atmospheric pressure low temperature plasma. In this paper, an atmospheric pressure Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) was introduced to modify lipase immobilization and activity on bacteria cellulose (BC) membrane. He plasma treatment and He with NH3·H2O plasma treatment presented opposite results, while He with NH3·H2O plasma treatment largely enhanced the lipase immobilization and activity, however, the former decreased on the contrary. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), pore size distribution, surface area, average pore size, water contact angle and ATR-FTIR measurements showed that the enhancement of lipase immobilization amount and activity on natural bacteria cellulose membrane He with NH3·H2O plasma treatment can be explained as follows: (1) Natural straight chain structure of bacteria cellulose was broken into granule-like glucose units (~50nm diameter);(2) These structure change affected pore size distribution on surface, which leaded to enlarged surface area and reduced average pore diameter;(3) At the same time, increased water contact angle leaded to less hydrophilic bacteria cellulose membrane, but much better for lipase immobilization and activation. Situation is inverse in the He plasma treatment group. © 2021 IEEE.

Alongside the pursuit of high energy density and long service life,the urgent demand for low-temperature performance remains a long-standing challenge for a wide range of Li-ion battery applications,such as electric vehicles,portable electronics,large-scale grid systems,and special space/seabed/military *** Li-ion batteries suffer a major loss of capacity and power and fail to operate normally when the temperature decreases to-20℃.This deterioration is mainly attributed to poor Li-ion transport in a bulk carbonated ester electrolyte and its derived solid–electrolyte interphase(SEI).In this mini-review discussing the limiting factors in the Li-ion diffusion process,we propose three basic requirements when formulating electrolytes for low-temperature Liion batteries:low melting point,poor Liþaffinity,and a favorable ***,we briefly review emerging progress,including liquefied gas electrolytes,weakly solvating electrolytes,and localized high-concentration *** proposed novel electrolytes effectively improve the reaction kinetics via accelerating Li-ion diffusion in the bulk electrolyte and *** final part of the paper addresses future challenges and offers perspectives on electrolyte designs for low-temperature Li-ion batteries.

Cold atmospheric plasmas (CAPs) driven by high voltage pulse power supply have various advantages in various applications, such as high reactivity, easy ignition and energy saving, etc. Design specific high voltage pulse power supply powered by renewable energy like photovoltaic cells (PV) could further enhance the application potential of CAPs. Here, a high voltage pulse power supply directly driven by PV was designed and the main parameters of 500Hz to 5kHz frequency, lμs to 10μs pulse width and over 10kV amplitude were obtained in this investigation. We analyzed the design process of the topological structure, which was mainly composed of boost circuit, Marx generator and transformer. The design of the overall topology, the Marx generator, the circuit parameters selection and the auxiliary circuit for IGBT were introduced and discussed in detail. The high voltage pulse power supply was developed and tested with three typical CAPs sources. This designed power supply exhibited excellent working performance with stable output of CAPs load. Further optimization of the power supply was also discussed in the end. © 2021 IEEE.

The magnetizing inductance in linear induction motor (LIM) is heavily influenced by the dynamic end effect. Considering that the accuracy of magnetizing inductance usually plays an important role in control system, an online magnetizing inductance estimation strategy for LIM is proposed in this paper. It is based on the back electromotive force (EMF) model reference adaptive system (MRAS) and second-order sliding-mode supertwisting algorithm (STA). Compared to the conventional flux based MRAS identification strategy, there is no pure integration and differential operation in both reference and adaptive models for the proposed method so that integral initial values, DC bias and high-frequency-noise amplification problems can be solved. Stability analysis is given by using the Popov's criterion for hyperstability. Comprehensive simulation and experimental results are given to verify the effectiveness. © 2021 IEEE
