Experimental study on the influence of H_(2)O vapor and O_(2)for desulfurization and denitrification of the diesel exhaust in marine application by non‐thermal plasma

To improve the pollutant removal efficiency by non‐thermal plasma(NTP),the effect of H2O vapor and O_(2)on removal efficiency of NO and SO_(2)as well as the reduction of CO was investigated in H_(2)O/O_(2)/SO_(2)/NO/C_(3)H_(6)/CO_(2)/N_(2)*** analyse the reaction mechanism,the effects of H2O vapor and O2 on the emission intensity of Oð3p^(5)P→3s^(5)S0_(2)Þand OHðA^(2)Σþ→X^(2)ΠÞwere *** experimental results show that the increase of H_(2)O vapour(0%-9.8%)promotes the generation of OH radicals,increases the removal efficiency of NO from 18.9%to 57.3%,decreases the energy per NO removed from 449.0 to 148.1 eV/NO,increases SO_(2)removal efficiency from 4.8%to 35.3%,decreases the energy per SO_(2)removed decreases from 2784.0 to 582.9 eV/SO_(2),and reduces the generation of CO from 460 to 229 *** the range of 0%-15%,the increase of O_(2)content promotes the formation of O radicals,increases the removal efficiency of NO from 8.5%to 54.2%,and decreases the energy per NO removed from 994.3 to 156.4 eV/*** the range of 0%-5%,increasing O_(2)content promotes SO_(2)removal efficiency from 8.7%to 24.8%,and decreases the energy per SO_(2)removed from 2485.7 to 876.6 eV/SO_(2).However,CO generation increases from 200 to 350 ppm with the increase of O_(2)in 0%-5%due to the incomplete oxidation of C_(3)H_(6).In the range of 5%-15%,the increase of O2 produces more O radicals,decreases the removal efficiency of SO_(2)from 24.8%to 23.5%and the generates of CO from 350 to 311 *** study is helpful for improving the efficiency of NTP for desulfurization and denitrification,while reducing the by‐product CO.

Variable speed pumped storage unit is an important part of the new power system with renewable energy generation as the main body. In this paper, a fault diagnosis method of stator windings short circuit for variable speed pumped storage unit based on Park transform. During the normal operation of the variable speed pumped storage unit, the vector trajectory of the stator side current Park transform result is approximately a standard circle. When a fault occurs, the vector trajectory will become an ellipse. On this basis, the stator winding short-circuit fault is judged according to the variation degree of vector trajectory. Finally, taking a practical variable speed pumped storage unit as an example, the simulation verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method, which can sensitively reflect the small turn difference inter-turn short circuit fault with weak fault characteristics. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper investigates the security-constrained bidding strategy of the emerging shared transportation hubs for renewable fuels and refined oil (STH-RRs) participating within energy, regulation and pipeline logistics markets. Firstly, to excavate more flexible capability for the power system as well as to increase the revenue of the STH-RR operation company, the model for STH-RR participating in regulation market is established. Secondly, the security-constrained two-stage bidding model is first proposed for STH-RRs to balance the revenue across energy, regulation and pipeline logistics markets. Particularly, to guarantee secure operation of STH-RRs and meet the delivery demand, the rigorous multi-product transportation constraints are considered in both stages. Case studies based on the modified real-world multi-product pipelines in South China validate the proposed method, with the revenue and turnover increase of 14% and 4.7%, respectively, compared with conventional methods. © 2024 IEEE.

The current method of primary frequency support for the system using wind farms didn't consider the rotor speed and torque constraints at the same time. To improve the support effect while ensure the rotor speed and torque safety, this paper proposes a multiple stages coordinated control (MSCC) using wind turbine generators (WTGs) and energy storage systems (ESSs). In the beginning of the frequency event, the wind farm is under consensus coordinated control to fully utilize the WTGs' kinetic energy. ESSs act under adaptive droop control. When the torques of some WTGs reach the limit, these WTGs are switched to torque limit control (TLC). At the same time, the power reference values of ESSs are updated to make up for power shortage of TLC. In the recovery stages, the WTGs use gradual recovery control, while the ESSs use adaptive ramp recovery control. Both of the recovery controls alleviate the second frequency drop (SFD). Based on MATLAB/Simulink platforms, the two-area power system with wind farm and ESSs is analyzed. Simulation results show that the proposed TLDC method has a better effect compared with other frequency support methods, and also ensure the rotor speed and torque safety.

The qualitative and quantitative analysis of direct carbon emissions during the operation of substation equipment is an important part of the power system to achieve the goal of "double carbon". A large amount of pouring epoxy resin in dry-type equipment is heated and aged during equipment operation, but the current research lacks a special study on the greenhouse gas emissions and emission levels in this process, which is not conducive to the formulation of emission reduction measures. In this paper, based on the direct carbon emission characteristics of epoxy resin, accelerated thermo-oxidative aging experiments of epoxy resin at different temperatures and times were designed, and the greenhouse gas products were detected and analyzed by gas chromatography. Based on the lifetime of the epoxy resin and its relationship to the aging temperature, direct carbon emissions are calculated during the different aging processes of the epoxy resin. This paper points out that each unit mass loss in the aging process of unit epoxy resin leads to 6.11 units of direct carbon emissions, and a total of 0.208 units of direct carbon emissions are caused in its life cycle. Oscillations in current control (CC) timescale caused by the large-scale integration of voltage-source converters (VSCs) have gained more and more attention from both academy and industry. In view of this problem, a comparative study is conducted to investigate the stability difference between gridfollowing (GFL) and grid-forming (GFM) converters in CC timescale. Firstly, the unified linearized model of GFL and GFM converters is established. Secondly, the impact paths of other control loops on the current control loop are extracted based on the proposed model. Thirdly, the characteristics of the corresponding paths in GFL and GFM converter are studied. By comparing the impact of the corresponding paths on the current control loop, the root cause of the stability difference between GFL and GFM in CC timescale is revealed. All results are verified through time-domain simulations.

In this paper, the rotor topology of hybrid permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machines (HPM-SynRMs) with parallel, series and parallel-series configurations is given and the analytical models are presented. Based on the analytical models, a method for determining the initial dimensions of the rotors topology is presented. In the subsequent optimization process, a comparative analysis of the torque components, cost, external characteristics, and efficiency of the three motor configurations is conducted. The selected optimal design is compared with the reference PM machine under both overload and rated conditions. The results indicate that the HPM-SynRM achieves higher torque performance under overload conditions and slightly lower torque under rated conditions compared to the reference machine, while reducing the PM cost by 34.4%. Finally, a prototype is developed to validate the simulation results. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

The Iron-based superconductors(IBS) have high upper critical field, low anisotropy and strong current carrying capacity, which are expected to be the next-generation high temperature superconductors. This paper describes a 13 Tesla hybrid magnet using YBCO tapes and iron-based tapes. The design approach is aimed at verifying the superiority of Iron-based superconducting tapes using a shorter length of IBS tapes. The support structure is designed to improve the mechanical stability of magnets. Through mechanical analysis, it is verified that the magnet meets the design requirements and the operation stability.

The inertia analysis for wind turbines (WTs) typically focuses on the electromechanical timescale. Active power control (APC) and phase-locked loop (PLL) are essential considerations while reactive power control (RPC) is often deemed negligible, particularly in stiff grid. However, such assumptions may be inappropriate. Therefore, this article aims to comprehensively examine the effects of APC and RPC on the inertia for doubly fed induction generator (DFIG)-based WTs. Firstly, phase motion models are developed by incorporating various combinations of control loops, including APC, RPC, and different PLL configurations. Subsequently, the impacts of the APC and RPC on the inertia are examined in detail. The analysis reveals that the APC diminishes inertia, whereas the RPC significantly enhances the inertia. Additionally, special attention should be given to phase characteristics of the inertia transfer function, as they can substantially influence inertial performance. Furthermore, an improved frequency support method is proposed, which achieves superior frequency response without necessitating the PLL bandwidth to be adjusted to extremely low values, such as 1 Hz or lower. Finally, the analysis and the proposed method are validated through experiments. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

The compact terahertz free electron laser light source requires high quality of electron beam. For the long time the beam tuning tasks were done by operators manually, however it is challenging for operators to obtain ideal beam quality. Automatic beam tuning methods using optimization algorithms are required. Therefore a software framework, the sequential decision-making framework, has been developed so as to utilize existing tuning methods and newly emerged intelligent control techniques in the accelerator control community. The framework can serve as a platform for the development, test and demonstration of different control algorithms. It can also support normal tasks like automatic emittance measurement and remnant magnetism removal of quadrupoles. Since the completion of the framework, the efficiency of the laboratory operations has been greatly improved. © 2021 IEEE.
