Deployment of Polar Codes for Mission-Critical Machine-Type Communication Over Wireless Networks

Mission critical Machine-type Communication(mcMTC),also referred to as Ultra-reliable Low Latency Communication(URLLC),has become a research *** is primarily characterized by communication that provides ultra-high reliability and very low latency to concurrently transmit short commands to a massive number of connected *** the reduction in physical(PHY)layer overhead and improvement in channel coding techniques are pivotal in reducing latency and improving reliability,the current wireless standards dedicated to support mcMTC rely heavily on adopting the bottom layers of general-purpose wireless standards and customizing only the upper *** mcMTC has a significant technical impact on the design of all layers of the communication protocol *** this paper,an innovative bottom-up approach has been proposed for mcMTC applications through PHY layer targeted at improving the transmission reliability by implementing ultra-reliable channel coding scheme in the PHY layer of IEEE 802.11a standard bearing in mind short packet transmission *** achieve this aim,we analyzed and compared the channel coding performance of convolutional codes(CCs),low-density parity-check(LDPC)codes,and polar codes in wireless network on the condition of short data packet *** Viterbi decoding algorithm(VA),logarithmic belief propagation(Log-BP)algorithm,and cyclic redundancy check(CRC)successive cancellation list(SCL)(CRC-SCL)decoding algorithm were adopted to CC,LDPC codes,and polar codes,***,a new PHY layer for mcMTC has been *** reliability of the proposed approach has been validated by simulation in terms of Bit error rate(BER)and packet error rate(PER)***-to-noise ratio(SNR).The simulation results demonstrate that the reliability of IEEE 802.11a standard has been significantly improved to be at PER=10−5 or even better with the implementation of polar *** results also show that the general-purpose wireless net

Energy-Efficient Resource Optimization for Massive MIMO Networks Considering Network Load

This paper investigates the resource optimization problem for a multi-cell massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)network in which each base station(BS)is equipped with a large number of antennas and each base station(BS)adapts the number of antennas to the daily load profile(DLP).This paper takes into consideration user location distribution(ULD)variation and evaluates its impact on the energy efficiency of load adaptive massive MIMO *** variation is modeled by dividing the cell into two coverage areas with different user densities:boundary focused(BF)and center focused(CF)*** cells are assumed identical in terms of BS configurations,cell loading,and ULD variation and each BS is modeled as an M/G/m/m state dependent queue that can serve a maximum number of users at the peak *** with energy efficiency(EE)we analyzed deployment and spectrum efficiency in our adaptive massive MIMO system by evaluating the impact of cell size,available bandwidth,output power level of the BS,and maximum output power of the power amplifier(PA)at different cell *** also analyzed average energy consumption on an hourly basis per BS for the model proposed for data traffic in Europe and also the model proposed for business,residential,street,and highway areas.

In this paper we have shown how to monitor the water level of water systems such as water tanks, rivers, ground water table, and bore wells remotely. We have also shown that how to control the working of pump automatically and remotely. It can also be used to remotely monitor the flood areas wirelessly and information can be sent to mobile wirelessly. This project is designed to monitor the water level with the help of water level sensors, Zigbee 802.15.4, 74HC14 inverter and GSM technology. Furthermore, it can monitor the quality of water with the help of water quality sensors such as turbidity sensor and dissolved oxygen sensor. In this monitoring system, sensors monitor the water level, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, temperature and pH level of the water at some predefined sensing interval. This approach would help in reducing the water overflow and home power consumption. © 2013 IEEE.

With the explosive growth of surveillance video data,browsing videos quickly and effectively has become an urgent *** key frame extraction has received widespread attention as an effective ***,accurately capturing the local motion state changes of moving objects in the video is still challenging in key frame *** target center offset can reflect the change of its motion *** observation proposed a novel key frame extraction method based on moving objects center offset in this *** proposed method utilizes the center offset to obtain the global and local motion state information of moving objects,and meanwhile,selects the video frame where the center offset curve changes suddenly as the key *** processing effectively overcomes the inaccuracy of traditional key frame extraction ***,extracting the center point of each ***,calculating the center point offset of each frame and forming the center offset curve by connecting the center offset of each ***,extracting candidate key frames and optimizing them to generate final key *** experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms contrast methods to capturing the local motion state changes of moving objects.

The commutation overshoot is an important reference index for the insulation coordination of the converter station as well as the thyristor voltage *** the dispersity of reverse recovery charges of series thyristors may affect commutation overshoots,especially those at the thyristor level,little literature has tried to analyse it in ***,this study compares the turn-off models of independent thyristor and elaborates their applicability to series ***,a novel model for series thyristors during the turn-off process is proposed,based on which the turn-off model of converter valve is also ***,the validity and efficiency of the proposed model are discussed by simulations and it is applied to the analysis of commutation *** analysis shows that though the average model can be used to estimate the valve voltage stresses,it may lead to large errors in the thyristor voltage *** selecting the 1:n−1 distribution as the distribution mode of reverse recovery charge in series thyristors will result in very conservative results.

Process specifications in wafer fabrication need precise definition. Moreover, concerns for quality are such that different steps requiring the same capabilities should be processed on the same equipment with these capabilities. This paper develops a Loading Allocation algorithm considering equipment Capability and Dedication (LACD) for wafer fab. Simulation results demonstrate that LACD obtains the best performance among the compared three loading allocation methods in terms of standard deviation of machine loading. This finding indicates that LACD can effectively balance the loading among different machines with the same capability on the planning horizon by taking into account the order's process requirements as well as the machine's capacity and capability.

There exist numerous sophisticated models and methods for estimating the size, cost and schedule of software projects. However, the ability to accurately predict the software cost of web based software for agile software projects is still dubious. The most appropriate web based software cost estimation in an agile software development environment is a big problem due to varying levels of customer requirement and different individual personnel capabilities. Also, the need to develop a separate model to estimate web based project is rising. In this research paper, we present AgileMOW, an approach to model a software cost estimation process which will evaluate effort and cost of software development for web based projects developed using Agile methodology with a number of constraints imposed by stakeholders and environmental characteristics, thereby satisfying multitudinous criteria by making use of COCOMO II model, a famous traditional algorithmic technique. Most importantly, the paper identifies the difference between conventional and web projects. The proposed estimation model enhances the level of visibility in the planning stages.

This paper focuses on the development of an innovative nondestructive test procedure (system+algorithm) for characterizing defects in concrete sewer pipelines, using ultrasonic inspection. A signal processing technique is being developed that is invariant to changes in both concrete material properties and composition of wastewater. Development of such an inspection procedure will be the first step in the design of a mobile autonomous vehicle for inspecting wastewater pipeline systems. Results demonstrating the validity of the proposed approach are presented.

Integrating electrophysiological signals in larger systems is getting wider due to the fact that such modalities facilitate the daily tasks of users. However, the high cost of monitoring systems (e.g., oscilloscopes) limits the testing and analysis of the acquired signal from such noisy systems (i. e., electrophysiological devices). The proposed system is a part of a larger proj ect that deals with the identification of sign language movements through the use of Muscle-computer Interfaces. On one hand, the user is able to display the signal acquired by the electrodes on an LCD screen. On the other hand, the system helps a mute patient to issue a special message to his surrounding environment that does not know the sign language to ask for help. The second feature is not unique, as it can be replaced by any other application based on the user's needs. The system was tested on several persons, and the results are promising. © 2022 IEEE.
