Design and analysis of a compact dual-band printed rectenna circuit at WiFi and GSM frequencies for microwave power transmission

In this paper, a dual-band printed rectenna of compact size (38×24) mm2 has been designed and analyzed to work at GSM frequency of 900 MHz and WiFi frequency of 2.4 GHz for wireless power transmission. The purpose of this design is to harvest energy at two different frequencies to increase the probability of receiving power from ambient field. The antenna part of this rectenna is printed on FR4 substrate and has the shape of meander line with two arms for double-band operation. The rectifier part of this rectenna consisted of impedance matching network, AC-to-DC conversion circuit and a DC filter. The design and simulation results of this rectenna have been done with the help of CST 2019 and ADS 2018 software packages. At a received input power of -30 dBm and a load resistance of 1900 Ω, the maximum conversion efficiencies obtained by this rectenna at frequencies of 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz are found as 23% and 42% respectively.

This paper is to design a Solar Thermal Energy Harvesting System that can produce electricity from solar turbine. Solar energy was divided into two categories, thermal and photovoltaic. Thermal system operates using sun rays to drive a turbine. While photovoltaic system converts the photons in sunlight into electrical energy. Sunlight is a renewable energy and can produce electrical energy. In this paper, the main focus is the sun rays that reflected on the solar concentrator to heat a water and produce steam. The steam produce will turn a turbine and generate electricity. Concave mirror was selected because the focus to reflect sunlight is better than another light reflector. The parallel light rays from the sun become incident on the mirror and get reflected at focus. Thus, concave mirror was used to focus light to a point and used as a solar concentrator.

Broad-Deep Network-Based Fuzzy Emotional Inference Model with Personal Information for Intention Understanding

A broad-deep fusion network-based fuzzy emotional inference model with personal information (BDFEI) is proposed for emotional intention understanding in human-robot interaction. It aims to understand students’ intentions in the university teaching scene. Specifically, feature extraction is carried out by convolution and maximum pooling, and then the ridge regression algorithm is used for emotional behavior recognition, which reduce the influence of the complex structure and slow network updates in deep learning. Multivariate analysis of variance is used to select the key personal information affecting the intention and obtain the coefficient of influence degree. Finally, fuzzy inference is used to understand the intention. According to the recognition results, the accuracy on FABO database of our proposal is 1.89%, 12.21% and 0.78% higher than those of the Residual Network combined with geodesic flow kernel (ResNet-101+GFK), a fuzzy deep neural network with sparse autoencoder (FDNNSA), and an affect recognition on a video-skeleton of bimodal information with a hierarchical classification fusion strategy (HCFS), respectively, indicating that our proposal can effectively capture the emotional intention of students in the teaching scene.

This paper presents a model-based predictive control implementation (FCS-MPC) with extended horizon prediction to address the resiliency problem and voltage/frequency deviations for hierarchical microgrids. The proposed framework integrates Software-Defined Networking (SDN) as a set of microservices, where prediction models enable effective coordination and enhance system reliability by including communication constraints. The control strategy considers the variability of communication latency and packet loss to adjust the shared references based on the secondary control’s spatial and temporal correlation. The system is subjected to four test case scenarios to analyze the impact of communications in distributed generation, plugand-play capabilities, and load fluctuations on the microgrid. The proposed SDN-based framework enables the resolution of slow dynamic responses to parameter variations, by exploiting the advantages of FCS-MPC. The prediction block in the proposed secondary control outperforms traditional communication methods in terms of latency, recovery time, and packet loss among distributed energy resources, improving hierarchical microgrid performance. © 2024, The Authors. This paper considers distributed online nonconvex optimization with time-varying inequality constraints over a network of agents. For a time-varying graph, we propose a distributed online primal–dual algorithm with compressed communication to efficiently utilize communication resources. We show that the proposed algorithm establishes an O(T max{1−θ1,θ1}) network regret bound and an O(T 1−θ1/2) network cumulative constraint violation bound, where T is the number of iterations and θ1 ∈ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. When Slater’s condition holds (i.e, there is a point that strictly satisfies the inequality constraints at all iterations), the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(T 1−θ1). These bounds are comparable to the state-of-the-art results established by existing distributed online algorithms with perfect communication for distributed online convex optimization with (time-varying) inequality constraints. Malnutrition detection in infants using machine learning approach

Balanced nutrition is the main source of energy. It is necessary for healthy life of people. Healthy nutrients enable cells to perform their regular activities at pace. Deficiency of proper nutrition while birth causes various complications in further life. These complications include wasting, stunting, edema, mental illness, low immune system, ridged or spoon-shaped nails, brittle, dry hair, and underweight etc. Malnutrition is a condition that occurs when a person consumes a diet that is deficient in one or more major nutrients, or has too many of them. Marasmus, kwashiorkor and intermediate states of marasmus-kwashiorkor are included in the term Protein-Energy Malnutrition (PEM) disorders. PEM is the cause of underweight (low weight for age), stunting (low height for age), and wasting (low weight for height). In India, stunting affects 48% of infants under five years age, wasting affects 20%, and underweight affects 43%. Most children suffering from undernutrition in mild to moderate forms are unnoticed in India, which affects their growth at early ages. Detecting malnutrition at early stage reduces further healthcare cost and improve health outcome. To alleviate the problem of malnutrition, this paper describes a decision tree model for classification of infants being between the ages of 0 and 59 months as normal, acute malnourished or severely malnourished for three categories: Stunting, Wasting and Underweight. In decision tree model, Gini index is adopted as an impurity measure. The accuracy obtained using decision tree for stunting is 82.22%, for wasting 72.23 % and underweight 78.35% using Gini index.

Oral cancer is a main worldwide health problem accounting for 606,520 deaths in 2020, and it is most predominant in the middle-and low-income nations. Permitting computerization in identifying potentially malignant and malignant lesions in the oral cavity would possibly result in low-expense and early detection of the disease. The most important purpose of this research is to find the Oral Cancer Lesions affected region in the tongue images. The current work utilized the GVF algorithm to detect Oral Cancer Lesions using features involved in tongue images. This article offers a novel approach to merging bounding box annotations from different medical practitioners. Additionally, gradient vector flow was used to segment images, where the complicated patterns have been obtained for tackling this difficult task. Using the initial data gathered in this study, a hybrid classifier algorithm was assessed to detect Oral cancer lesions, and features like colour, texture and geometry were extracted. BioMed Chinese Medicine Repository collects the tongue images. Additionally, performances are described categorizing as per the kind of referral decision. Our initial findings establish support vector machine has the probability of challenging this stimulating task.

Manual oropharyngeal (OP) swab sampling is an intensive and risky task. In this article, a novel OP swab sampling device of low cost and high compliance is designed by combining the visuo-tactile sensor and the pneumatic actuator-based gripper. Here, a concave visuo-tactile sensor called CoTac is first proposed to address the problems of high cost and poor reliability of traditional multi-axis force sensors. Besides, by imitating the doctor’s fingers, a soft pneumatic actuator with a rigid skeleton structure is designed, which is demonstrated to be reliable and safe via finite element modeling and experiments. Furthermore, we propose a sampling method that adopts a compliant control algorithm based on the adaptive virtual force to enhance the safety and compliance of the swab sampling process. The effectiveness of the device has been verified through sampling experiments as well as in vivo tests, indicating great application potential. The cost of the device is around 30 US dollars and the total weight of the functional part is less than 0.1 kg, allowing the device to be rapidly deployed on various robotic arms. In order to improve the reliability and accuracy of the main steam temperature trend prediction, a main steam temperature prediction model based on improved LSTM is proposed. Firstly, uses the grey correlation analysis method to select the important influencing factors. Then, a linear structure is introduced into the LSTM structure to construct a main steam temperature prediction model. Finally, based on the historical operating data of the thermal power unit, a simulation experiment is performed to compare the prediction error of the output of the RNN model, the LSTM model, and the improved LSTM model. The results show that the method has higher prediction accuracy for the main steam temperature. At the same time, compared with other traditional methods, this method has better fitting effect, which can be well applied in practical engineering. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The paper presents investigation of the efficiency of weight averaging of a pulse frequency modulated signal. The sampling effects and the interference influence in the input signal of the voltage-to frequency converter on the result of output frequency weight averaging are analyzed. A general form of the averaging result dependence on the used weighting function, signal value, interference level and modulation parameters is derived. In the case of high interferences whose frequencies are unstable or may change over a wide range, the specified level of their suppression, together with the reduction of the sampling effect, can be achieved using weighting functions, such as trigonometric, with an appropriate level of side lobes. The interference suppression dependently on frequency ranges using selected weighing functions are tested using both the simulation and experimental methods. The obtained results show very good convergence with the values calculated from theoretical formulas. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
