The Quantum Trajectories Method (QTM) is one of the frequently used methods for studying open quantum systems. The main idea of this method is the evolution of wave functions which describe the system (as functions of time). Then, so-called quantum jumps are applied at a randomly selected point in time. The obtained system state is called as a trajectory. After averaging many single trajectories, we obtain the approx- imation of the behavior of a quantum system. This fact also allows us to use parallel computation methods. In the article, we discuss the QTM package which is supported by the MPI technology. Using MPI allowed utilizing the parallel computing for calculating the trajectories and averaging them - as the effect of these actions, the time taken by calculations is shorter. In spite of using the C++ programming language, the presented solution is easy to utilize and does not need any advanced programming techniques. At the same time, it offers a higher performance than other packages realizing the QTM. It is especially important in the case of harder computational tasks, and the use of MPI allows improving the performance of particular problems which can be solved in the field of open quantum systems. The present paper focuses on a specific method for solving systems of differential equations with application in nonlinear optics. The basic system is presented by two coupled nonlinear differential equations, written in dimensionless form, which govern the propagation of light pulses in optical fibers. The mathematical algorithm is described in detail in the article. The system is analytically solved. The obtained solutions of the equations are in the form of special functions - Jacobi elliptic delta function. They determine the periodical energy exchange between light pulses. The mathematical method can be applied for pulses with arbitrary initial intensities, generalized phase and wave number mismatch.

Observer-based iterative learning control design in the repetitive process setting

This paper considers the design of an observer-based iterative learning control law for discrete linear systems using repetitive process stability theory The resulting design produces a stabilizing feedback controller in the time domain and a PD-type of feedforward controller that guarantees monotonic convergence in the trial-to-trial domain. Furthermore, the new design procedure includes limited frequency range specifications, which will be of particular interest in some applications. All design computations required for the new results in this paper can be completed using linear matrix inequalities. A simulation example is given to illustrate the theoretical developments. © 2017

Obesity and depression are serious public health problems and cause death in the world. In this article, we will study the concept of depreobesity that explains the depression in the context of obesity and vice versa. We will review whether animals can be used to understand the interrelationship between obesity and depression. We will propose saliva as a translational paradigm to predict the depreobesity. Policymakers need to identify new strategies for depreobesity by understanding the complexity of shared biology (depression-obesity). Perspectives for the future are promising. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd

Quantum coherence measures for quantum switch

We suppose that a structure working as a quantum switch will be a significant element of future networks realizing transmissions of quantum information. In this chapter we analyze a process of switch’s operating – especially in systems with a noise presence. The noise is caused by a phenomenon of quantum decoherence, i.e. distorting of quantum states because of an environmental influence, and also by some imperfections of quantum gates’ implementation. In the face of mentioned problems, the possibility of tracing the switch’s behavior during its operating seems very important. To realize that we propose to utilize a Coherence measure which, as we present in this chapter, is sufficient to describe operating of the quantum switch and to verify correctness of this process. It should be also stressed that the value of Coherence measure may be estimated by a quantum circuit, designed especially for this purpose. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Currently the application of Industry 4.0 is being promoted in Indonesia, among others, in systems in industry, medical, transportation, agriculture, and public services. This has encouraged the implementation of The Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The implementation of IoT in the industry there is no price problem, but in the low profit sectors the use of the industry standard IoT system is a problem. Therefore, this paper will provide the results of the study on the use of Low-Cost IoT. The most important parameter of an IoT system is the performance of sending data from the device to the server and reversing from the server to the user. IoT devices use the NodeMCU ESP8266 module on the Ubidots platform for free. Based on the design that has been carried out, the delivery time performance of IoT to Server devices for fiber optic media and 4G cellular operators is 1-2 milliseconds and 2-7 milliseconds respectively. This value according to the standard is still very good even though using unpaid services.

Determination of stresses in RC eccentrically compressed members using optimization methods

The paper presents an optimization method for determining the strains and stresses in reinforced concrete (RC) members subjected to the eccentric compression. The governing equations for strains in the rectangular cross-sections are derived by integrating the equilibrium equations of cross-sections, taking account of the effect of concrete softening in plastic range and the mean compressive strength of concrete. The stress-strain relationship for concrete in compression for short term uniaxial loading is assumed according to Eurocode 2 for nonlinear analysis. For reinforcing steel linear-elastic model with hardening in plastic range is applied. The task consists in the solving the set of the derived equations s.t. box constraints. The resulting problem was solved by means of fmincon function implemented from the Matlab’s Optimization Toolbox. Numerical experiments have shown the existence of many points verifying the equations with a very good accuracy. Therefore, some operations from the global optimization were included: start of fmincon from many points and clusterization. The model is verified on the set of data encountered in the engineering practice.

Reduction of discrete linear repetitive processes to nonsingular Roesser models via elementary operations

A method based on the elementary operations algorithm (EOA) is developed that reduces a system matrix describing a discrete linear repetitive process to a 2-D nonsingular Roesser form such that all the input-output properties, including the transfer-function matrix, are preserved. Some areas for possible future use/application of the developed results will also be briefly discussed. © 2017

Modelling of pasteurization process line in dairy industry in context of process control

This article presents preliminary effects of the identification of the heating exchange processes in industrial milk processing applications in respect of making improvements in control and monitoring. Milk processing is distinguished by its energy-intensity and the need to conform to standards in terms of possible dangerous contamination of the final product. The most important stage in milk processing is its proper pasteurizing. The biggest challenge in front of dairy producers and plant builders is to ensure that the process parameters are followed every time and as closely as possible. Any deviation can lead to changed features or contamination, in overall to product recall and loss. The control systems in place employ PID regulators tuned in the way of experiment and experience. The search of improved algorithms must be preceeded by in-depth identification. The article presents research being undertaken in University of Warmia-Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland. First chapter introduces the reader to milk processing area, followed by pasteurizing process description, research done and achieved results.

Reservoir engineering is the term used in quantum control and information technologies to describe manipulating the environment within which an open quantum system operates. Reservoir engineering is essential in applications where storing quantum information is required. From the control theory perspective, a quantum system is capable of storing quantum information if it possesses a so-called decoherence free subsystem （DFS）. This paper explores pole placement techniques to facilitate synthesis of decoherence free subsystems via coherent quantum feedback control. We discuss limitations of the conventional ＇open loop＇ approach and propose a constructive feedback design methodology for decoherence free subsystem engineering. It captures a quite general dynamic coherent feedback structure which allows systems with decoherence free modes to be synthesized from components which do not have such modes.
