Recently, deep learning in stock prediction has become an important branch. Image-based methods show potential by capturing complex visual patterns and spatial correlations, offering advantages in interpretability over time series models. However, image-based approaches are more prone to overfitting, hindering robust predictive performance. To improve accuracy, this paper proposes a novel method, named Sequence-based Multi-scale Fusion Regression Convolutional Neural Network (SMSFR-CNN), for predicting stock price movements in the China A-share market. Firstly, the historical opening, highest, lowest, closing price, and turnover rate (OHLCT) of stocks are converted into images, separated by weekends, with time information to help the CNN learn the impact of different trading periods. To reduce overfitting, long sequences of stock features are decomposed into multiple time periods, and OHLCT images at different time scales are utilized as inputs, significantly reducing overfitting. Thirdly, in order to overcome the problem that classification labels lose information about the magnitude of stock price changes, we introduce regression labels to help the model capture more latent features of stock price fluctuations. By utilizing CNN to learn sequential features and combining them with image features, we improve the accuracy of stock trend prediction on the A-share market stock dataset. This approach reduces the search space for image features, stabilizes and accelerates the training process. Extensive comparative experiments on 4,454 A-share stocks show that the model achieves 61.15% positive predictive value and 63.37% negative predictive value for the next 5 days, resulting in a total profit of 165.09%. This paper proposes an observer-based formation tracking control approach for multi-vehicle systems with second-order motion dynamics, assuming that vehicles’ relative or global position and velocity measurements are unavailable. It is assumed that all vehicles are equipped with sensors capable of sensing the bearings relative to neighboring vehicles and only one leader vehicle has access to its global position. Each vehicle estimates its absolute position and velocity using relative bearing measurements and the estimates of neighboring vehicles received over a communication network. A distributed observer-based controller is designed, relying only on bearing and acceleration measurements. This work further explores the concept of the Bearing Persistently Exciting (BPE) formation by proposing new algorithms for bearing-based localization and state estimation of second-order systems in centralized and decentralized manners. It also examines conditions on the desired formation to guarantee the exponential stability of distributed observer-based formation tracking controllers. In support of our theoretical results, some simulation results are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed observers as well as the observer-based tracking controllers.

Regardless of the improvements in the efficiency of energy consumption of informationand communication technology, electric energy consumption will forever be a requi-site for software execution. Consequently, researchers have promoted the developmentof green and sustainable software with new development methods and tools. These,however, have been adopted with limited success, due to technicalities and specificlanguage/platform requirements. In this paper, we present RADIANCE+: a proof ofconcept web app for designing greener software with a model-driven approach basedon a Domain-Specific Modeling Language. RADIANCE+, in contrast to other tools,welcomes users with different levels of knowledge on green software and software ar-chitecture. Moreover, RADIANCE+ assesses and rates the prospective hardware andbehavioral consumption of the profiles created by the user, assisting them in identify-ing possible design changes that result in greener software from the initial stages ofsoftware development. It includes a Behavioral Load Simulator (BLS), which trans-lates the profiles into a multi-agents simulation, whose evolving prospective hardwareconsumption can be translated into the evolution of energy consumption. The resultsof the BLS can be further used by deployment simulators so that software designersand architects can experiment with different software architectures, load balancing,and scheduling or orchestration algorithms, all from the initial stages of the SoftwareDevelopment Life-Cycle. © 2024, The Authors. In this paper, using tools from graph theory we provide verifiable necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique hydraulic equilibrium in district heating systems of meshed topology and containing multiple heat sources. Even though numerous publications have addressed the design of efficient algorithms for numerically finding hydraulic equilibria in the general context of water distribution networks, this is not the case for the analysis of existence and uniqueness. Moreover, most of the existing work dealing with these aspects exploit the equivalence between the nonlinear algebraic equations describing the hydraulic equilibria and the KKT conditions of a suitably defined nonlinear convex optimization problem. Differently, this paper proposes necessary and sufficient graph-theoretic conditions on the actuator placement for the existence and uniqueness of a hydraulic equilibrium, independent of the actuators' control objective. An example based on a representative district heating network is considered to illustrate the key aspects of our contribution, and an explicit formulation of the steady state solution is given for the case in which pressure drops through pipes are linear with respect to the flow rate.

Mathematical optimization is now widely regarded as an indispensable modeling and solution tool for the design of wireless communications systems. While optimization has played a significant role in the revolutionary progress in wireless communication and networking technologies from 1G to 5G and onto the future 6G, the innovations in wireless technologies have also substantially transformed the nature of the underlying mathematical optimization problems upon which the system designs are based and have sparked significant innovations in the development of methodologies to understand, to analyze, and to solve those problems. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive survey of recent advances in mathematical optimization theory and algorithms for wireless communication system design. We begin by illustrating common features of mathematical optimization problems arising in wireless communication system design. We discuss various scenarios and use cases and their associated mathematical structures from an optimization perspective. We then provide an overview of recently developed optimization techniques in areas ranging from nonconvex optimization, global optimization, and integer programming, to distributed optimization and learning-based optimization. The key to successful solution of mathematical optimization problems is in carefully choosing or developing suitable algorithms (or neural network architectures) that can exploit the underlying problem structure. The three-way approximation of fuzzy sets represents membership values using a three-valued set {1,m,0} , where 1 indicates total belongingness, 0 total non-belongingness, and m an intermediate state. This approach elevates values of membership function above a threshold α to 1, reduces those below β to 0, and assigns the remaining ones to an intermediate value m. A key challenge lies in determining the thresholds α and β and selecting the value of m, as existing models often lack analytical solutions and fail to fully explore the relationship between m and membership structures. This study introduces an asymmetric three-way approximation model for fuzzy sets, removing the constraint α + β = 1. An analytical formula is derived for the thresholds (α,β) by minimizing information loss, and the relationship between m and membership structures is thoroughly examined. An adaptive optimizer is proposed to learn the approximate optimal value of m by minimizing the information loss. The experimental results show that information loss decreases initially before increasing as m grows. Besides, our model achieves the best classification across most datasets. © 1993-2012 IEEE.

Bulk integrated electricity and gas systems (IEGSs) introduce complex coupling relations and induce synergistic operation challenges. The growing uncertainty arising from the renewable power generation in the IEGS further aggravates the synergistic problems. Considering the availability of historical wind power generation data, this paper adopts a two-stage sample robust optimization (SRO) model, which is equivalent to the two-stage distributionally robust optimization (DRO) model with a type-∞ Wasserstein ambiguity set, to address the wind power penetrated unit commitment optimal energy flow (UC-OEF) problem for the IEGS. Compared to the equivalent DRO model, the two-stage SRO model can be approximately transformed into a computationally efficient form. Specifically, we employ linear decision rules to simplify the proposed UC-OEF model. Moreover, we further enhance the tractability of the simplified model by exploring its structural features and, accordingly, develop a solution method. —This letter considers a UAV aiding communication between a ground transmitter and a ground receiver in the presence of co-channel interference. A discrete-time Markov process is adopted to model the complex nature of the Air-to-Ground (A2G) channel, including the occurrence of Line-of-Sight, Non-Line-of-Sight, and blockage events. Moreover, an adaptive phase-shift-enabled Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) is deployed to combat A2G blockage events. Novel frameworks based on the shadowed Rician distribution are proposed to derive closed-form expressions for Ground-to-Air/A2G SINR’ distributions. Numerical results show that RISs with large numbers of elements, e.g., 256 RIS elements, improve end-to-end Outage Probability (OP) and reduce blockages. © 2024, CC BY.

This study uses CNN to improve dog management by recognizing breeds and identities from images. It starts with dog and face detection using YOLOv2, creating the YOLODog and YOLODogFace models. InceptionV3 extracts features for breed classification, which are classified by XGBoost into the Inception $\mathrm{XG}_{\text {Dog }}$ and Inception $\mathrm{XG}_{\text {DogFace }}$ models and combined in the Inception $\mathrm{XG}_{\text {Fusion }}$ model. For identity recognition, YOLO ${ }_{\text {DogFace }}$ detects the face, InceptionV3 extracts features and the Inception ${ }_{\text {DogID }}$ model uses similarity measures for identification. Testing shows accurate detection except for incomplete images. Breed classification is effective but struggles with similar or low-resolution images. Combining features improves results, and identity recognition is less effective for similar dogs of the same breed.

The rapid advancement of networking and broad-band communications has created a demand for efficient relaying methods, particularly in the context of high-fidelity and low-latency last-mile communications. This paper explores the utilization of cellular-enabled-drones as Aerial-Base-Station (Aerial-BS) in cellular networks next-generation, specifically focusing on their potential as flying base stations in Beyond 5G/6G networks. The study summarises various aspects, including energy availability, mobility, optimal positioning, and node localization, handover efficiency. Additionally, multi-objective optimizations for bandwidth allocation, accommodating highly mobile User Equipment (UE), mitigating interference, and ensuring quality of service (QoS) are discussed. The paper highlights the use of drone-base-stations (DBS) as extending terrestrial network capacity and coverage, assisting mobile ad-hoc-networks, and enabling beam-forming applications. The challenges associated with optimal positioning, energy availability, path planning mobility, security, and QoS are examined, providing insights into future research directions. The findings contribute to the enhancement of cellular connectivity and offer valuable insights into the utilization of drones as flying aerial base stations in B5G / 6G network.
