Knowledge guidance is crucial for bridging the gap between high-level artificial intelligence (AI) ethics principles and the practical implementation of responsible AI systems. Diverging from static knowledge inference and temporal interpolation, the task of temporal knowledge extrapolation, which entails predicting future facts based on the evolution of historical facts, poses formidable challenges that remain largely unsolved. In existing temporal extrapolation methods, the structural learning of concurrent facts is primarily addressed by utilizing relation-aware graph neural networks. However, the temporal validity of facts leads to the sparsity of temporal subgraphs, where inherent coarse-level learning mechanisms hinder the capture of nuanced and scarce local semantics. Thus, this article proposes a fine-grained tensor graph attention network (F-GAT) that promotes representation learning of concurrent facts on sparse subgraphs by effectively distinguishing the significance of entities and relations within triplets and acquiring self-attention across diverse triplet contexts. Based on F-GAT, this article proposes a recurrent evolution network [recurrent evolution graph attention network (RE-GAT)] for temporal knowledge extrapolation. RE-GAT employed gated recurrent units to iteratively capture the sequential patterns between adjacent temporal facts, while simultaneously learning enriched embedding through the dual influence of historical factors and structural factors. The competitive results achieved by comparing the entity and relationship prediction performance of the proposed RE-GAT model with advanced methods on six public benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of RE-GAT for temporal extrapolation. © 2020 IEEE.

Exploring information hiding in images – problems and measures: a survey

The widespread adoption of digital communication technologies across various domains has led to a significant shift towards digitalization. However, this evolution has also introduced vulnerabilities, including unauthorized access, data manipulation, and fabrication by malicious entities, which severely impact the confidentiality and integrity of information. The proliferation of digital images on the internet has facilitated the use of these media for embedding confidential data in a way that prevents detection or extraction by unauthorized third parties. Despite numerous efforts, existing image steganography and watermarking techniques often lack robustness. This paper proposes several novel strategies to enhance the dynamism and imperceptibility of these techniques, integrating cryptographic methods by manipulating the entropy of encrypted images using minimal pixel value differences and applying unique image transformations. Additionally, the study highlights that implementing multi-layered security mechanisms can protect confidential information from modern statistical steganalysis attacks, thereby preserving both the integrity of hidden data and image quality. A comprehensive review of information hiding, specifically focusing on image watermarking and steganography, is provided. A Null Space Compliance Approach for Maintaining Safety and Tracking Performance in Human-Robot Interactions

In recent years, the focus on developing robot manipulators has shifted towards prioritizing safety in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI). Impedance control is a typical approach for interaction control in collaboration tasks. However, such a control approach has two main limitations: 1) the end-effector (EE)’s limited compliance to adapt to unknown physical interactions, and 2) inability of the robot body to compliantly adapt to unknown physical interactions. In this work, we present an approach to address these drawbacks. We introduce a modified Cartesian impedance control method combined with a Dynamical System (DS)-based motion generator, aimed at enhancing the interaction capability of the EE without compromising main task tracking performance. This approach enables human coworkers to interact with the EE on-the-fly, e.g. tool changeover, after which the robot compliantly resumes its task. Additionally, combining with a new null space impedance control method enables the robot body to exhibit compliant behaviour in response to interactions, avoiding serious injuries from accidental contact while mitigating the impact on main task tracking performance. Finally, we prove the passivity of the system and validate the proposed approach through comprehensive comparative experiments on a 7 Degree-of-Freedom (DOF) KUKA LWR IV+ robot. © 2016 IEEE.

Efficient Prompting for LLM-Based Generative Internet of Things

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capacities on various tasks, and integrating the capacities of LLMs into the Internet of Things (IoT) applications has drawn much research attention recently. Due to security concerns, many institutions avoid accessing state-of-the-art commercial LLM services, requiring the deployment and utilization of open-source LLMs in a local network setting. However, open-source LLMs usually have more limitations regarding their performance, such as their arithmetic calculation and reasoning capacities, and practical systems of applying LLMs to IoT have yet to be well-explored. Therefore, we propose an LLM-based Generative IoT (GIoT) system deployed in the local network setting in this study. To alleviate the limitations of LLMs and provide service with competitive performance, we apply prompt engineering methods to enhance the capacities of the open-source LLMs, design a Prompt Management Module and a Postprocessing Module to manage the tailored prompts for different tasks and process the results generated by the LLMs. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system, we discuss a challenging table question answering (Table-QA) task as a case study of the proposed system, as tabular data is usually more challenging than plaintext because of their complex structures, heterogeneous data types and sometimes huge sizes. We conduct comprehensive experiments on the two popular Table-QA data sets, and the results show that our proposal can achieve competitive performance compared with state-of-the-art LLMs, demonstrating that the proposed LLM-based GIoT system can provide competitive performance with tailored prompting methods and is easily extensible to new tasks without training. © 2014 IEEE.

Generative adversarial networks (GANs) have gained popularity for their ability to synthesize images from random inputs in deep learning models. One of the notable applications of this technology is the creation of realistic videos known as deepfakes, which have been misused on social media platforms. The difficulty lies in distinguishing these fake videos from real ones with the naked eye, leading to significant concerns. This study proposes a supervised machine learning approach to effectively differentiate between real and counterfeit videos by detecting visual artifacts. To achieve this, two facial features are extracted: eye blinking and nose position, utilizing landmark detection techniques. Both features were trained on supervised machine learning classifiers and evaluated using the publicly available UADFV and Celeb-DF deepfake datasets. The experiments successfully demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a promising and superior performance, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 97% for deepfake detection in contrast to state-of-the-art methods investigating the same datasets. © (2025), (science and Information Organization). Deep Learning-Augmented Evolutionary Strategies for Intelligent Global Optimization

This paper introduces the Susceptible-Infected-Removed Optimizer (SIRO), a novel learned heuristic inspired by biological systems and deep learning techniques. SIRO models its search process after the SIR epidemiological compartmental model, predicting the susceptibility, infection, and recovery dynamics of solutions. SIRO integrates deep learning into its initialization and parameter setting to enhance its efficiency, enabling intelligent and adaptive behavior. This hybridization improves solution quality, accelerates convergence, enhances robustness, and reduces computational costs. The algorithm’s performance was evaluated using CEC 2017 benchmark functions, demonstrating superior results in hybrid functions (C1-C28) despite moderate performance on traditional CEC1-CEC14 functions. Friedman’s test ranked SIRO 4th overall, with SSA as the top-performing algorithm. Additionally, SIRO was tested on real-world optimization problems, including mechanical engineering design, hyperparameter tuning, and feature selection for medical image classification. In the classification task, SIRO-enhanced CNN achieved an accuracy of 0.86 at the 5th epoch, outperforming CNN (0.66), CNN-GA (0.76), and CNN-WOA (0.75). Furthermore, SIRO reported a precision of 0.96, recall of 1.0, and F1-score of 0.98, highlighting its effectiveness. These results validate the benefits of integrating a learning mechanism into SIRO, yielding superior precision, computational efficiency, and performance over conventional optimization approaches. © 2013 IEEE.

As a data-driven analysis and decision-making tool, student portraits have gained significant attention in education management and personalized instruction. This research systematically explores the construction process of student portraits by integrating knowledge graph technology with advanced data analytics, including clustering, predictive modelling, and natural language processing. It then examines the portraits’ applications in personalized learning, such as student-centric adaptation of content and paths, and personalized teaching, especially the educator-driven instructional adjustments. Through case studies and quantitative analysis of multimodal datasets, including structured academic records, unstructured behavioural logs, and socio-emotional assessments, the research demonstrates how student portraits enable academic early warnings, adaptive learning path design, and equitable resource allocation. The findings provide actionable insights and technical frameworks for implementing precision education.

This work presents an adaptive tracking guidance method for robotic fishes. The scheme enables robots to suppress external interference and eliminate motion jitter. An adaptive integral surge line-of-sight guidance rule is designed to eliminate dynamics interference and sideslip issues. Limited-time yaw and surge speed observers are reported to fit disturbance variables in the model. The approximation values can compensate for the system's control input and improve the robots' tracking ***, this work develops a terminal sliding mode controller and third-order differential processor to determine the rotational torque and reduce the robots' run jitter. Then, Lyapunov's theory proves the uniform ultimate boundedness of the proposed method. Simulation and physical experiments confirm that the technology improves the tracking error convergence speed and stability of robotic fishes.

Linear Convergent Distributed Nash Equilibrium Seeking With Compression

Information compression techniques are majorly employed to reduce communication cost over peer-to-peer links. In this article, we investigate distributed Nash equilibrium (NE) seeking problems in a class of noncooperative games over directed graphs with information compression. To improve communication efficiency, a compressed distributed NE seeking (C-DNES) algorithm is proposed to obtain an NE for games, where the differences between decision vectors and their estimates are compressed. The proposed algorithm is compatible with a general class of compressors, including both unbiased and biased compressors. Moreover, our approach only requires the adjacency matrix of the directed graph to be row-stochastic, in contrast to past works that relied on balancedness or specific global network parameters. It is shown that C-DNES not only inherits the advantages of conventional distributed NE algorithms, achieving linear convergence rate for games with restricted strongly monotone mappings, but also saves communication costs in terms of transmitted bits. Finally, numerical simulations illustrate the advantages of C-DNES in saving communication cost by an order of magnitude under different compressors. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Cloud-Edge-End Collaborative Computing-Enabled Intelligent Sharding Blockchain for Industrial IoT Based on PPO Approach

The security and reliability risks of industrial data have constrained the advancement of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Although blockchain can protect the security and reliability of industrial data through hash verification mechanisms, there are numerous challenges in the existing blockchain enabled IIoT systems, such as the trilemma of scalability, decentralization and security, high computational power consumption of consensus protocols and limited computational resources of industrial devices. To address these problems, an intelligent sharding blockchain enabled IIoT framework is proposed, in which the intelligent sharding based on the reputation mechanism and the adaptive switching for multi-consensus protocols are utilized to enhance the decentralization, security and scalability of blockchain. Considering higher requirement of computational power of the sharding blockchain, a cloud-edge-end collaborative computing framework is introduced, in which the parallel computational offloading and the Terahertz communication technology are utilized to enhance the cooperation of the cloud-edge-end networks. Furthermore, due to the highly dynamic nature of industrial devices and industrial data, we consider and design the optimization problem as a Markov decision process (MDP), which is solved via the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) algorithm. Simulation results show that our proposed scheme can minimize total delay and maximize transaction throughput while guaranteeing the safety as well as decentralization of blockchain enabled IIoT systems. © 2002-2012 IEEE.
