The potential pattern changes in brain micro-structure can be used for the brain development assessment in children and adolescents by MRI scans. In this paper, we propose a highly accurate and efficient end-to-end brain age estimation network (BAENET) on T1-weighted MRI images. On the network, 3D skipping and outlier constraint loss are designed to accommodate deeper network and increase the robustness. Besides, we incorporate the neuroimaging domain knowledge into stratified sampling for better generalization ability for datasets with different age distributions, and gender learning for more gender-specific features during modeling. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed method on the public ABIDE2 and ADHD200 benchmark, consisting of 382 and 378 normal children scans respectively. Our BAENET achieves MAE of 1.11 and 1.16, significantly outperforming the best reported methods by 5.1 % and 9.4%.

With the impressive achievements of chatGPT and Sora, generative artificial intelligence (GAI) has received increasing attention. Not limited to the field of content generation, GAI is also widely used to solve the problems in wireless communication scenarios due to its powerful learning and generalization capabilities. Therefore, we discuss key applications of GAI in improving unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication and networking performance in this article. Specifically, we first review the key technologies of GAI and the important roles of UAV networking. Then, we show how GAI can improve the communication, networking, and security performances of UAV systems. Subsequently, we propose a novel framework of GAI for advanced UAV networking, and then present a case study of UAV-enabled spectrum map estimation and transmission rate optimization based on the proposed framework to verify the effectiveness of GAI-enabled UAV systems. Finally, we discuss some important open directions. © 2024 IEEE.

Ontology based automatic attributes extracting and queries translating for deep web

Search engines and web crawlers can not access the Deep Web directly. The workable way to access the hidden database is through query interfaces. Automatic extracting attributes from query interfaces and translating queries is a solvable way for addressing the current limitations in accessing Deep Web. However, the query interface provides semantic constraints, some attributes are co-occurred and the others are exclusive sometimes. To generate a valid query, we have to reconcile the key attributes and semantic relation between them. We design a framework to automatically extract attributes from query interfaces taking full advantage of instances information and enrich the attribute sets embedded in the semantic query interface by Ontology technique. Each attribute is extended into a candidate attribute expressed by a hierarchy tree and describes the semantic relation of the attributes. We carry out our experiments in the real-world domain and results showed the validation of query translation framework. © 2010 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

This paper is concerned with the unique identification of the shape of a scatterer through a single far-field pattern in an inverse elastic medium scattering problem with a generalized transmission boundary condition. The uniqueness issue by a single far-field measurement is a challenging problem in inverse scattering theory, which has a long and colorful history. In this paper, we demonstrate the well-posedness of the direct problem by the variational approach. We establish the uniqueness results by a single far-field measurement under a generic scenario when dealing with underlying elastic scatterers exhibiting polygonal-nest or polygonal-cell structures. Furthermore, for a polygonal-nest or polygonal-cell structure scatterer associated with density and boundary impedance parameters as piecewise constants, we show that these physical quantities can be uniquely determined simultaneously by a single far-field measurement. Automatic Detection of Lumbar Spondylolisthesis and Instability Using Supine Magnetic Resonance Images

Background and Objective: Lumbar spondylolisthesis is a condition in which one vertebra is displaced relative to the vertebra below it. Lumbar instability can be divided into static and dynamic spondylolisthesis depending on whether the degree of slippage changes significantly in images taken in different postures. Usually, the degree of slippage of lumbar instability is not obvious on magnetic resonance (MR) images taken in the supine position;therefore, it is easy to miss the detection of spondylolisthesis with lumbar instability based on slippage. This feature of lumbar instability also poses a challenge for the automatic detection of dynamic spondylolisthesis, particularly in supine MR images. This study aimed to develop a two-stage model for the automatic detection of spondylolisthesis and lumbar instability using supine MR ***: Specifically, we used You Only Look Once (YOLO) to detect and crop consecutive images near the intervertebral discs (IVDs) on both sagittal and transverse axis magnetic resonance images, and then classified the cropped images using weight-sharing convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Consistency regularization and a new contrast loss function ware also developed to improve the robustness. The MR data we used includes 108 mixed samples of lumbar instability and spondylolisthesis (39 cases of lumbar instability and 69 cases of spondylolisthesis) and 182 normal ***: We found that YOLO could detect the complete image sequence between L1 and S1 with 97.24% accuracy (ACC). Compared with the ground truth labels, the mean of intersection over union (mIOU) is 84.58%. In addition, the ACC and mIoU for transverse axis image are 98.62% and 85.71% respectively. For the low accuracy and imprecise of contour detection evaluation algorithm for a natural image with Ground Truth, we proposed a neighborhood matching algorithm, which had been combined with the original algorithm, and then modified the accuracy of the formula, at last we got the contour detection evaluation algorithm of this paper. Through assessing the contour detection images processed by Canny operator, compared with the original algorithm, The algorithm improved the accuracy value of assessment of contour detection.

Document-Level Relation Extraction with Entity Type Constraints

Long-tail problem and multi-label problem are two commonly encountered challenges in document-level relation extraction task. Current efforts are concerned with enhancing the representations of entity pairs through Transformer or document graphs, which cannot tackle the above challenges well. Relation correlations are a potential solution, which allows head relations to assist in the training of tail ones by transferring correlation knowledge between them, and can measure the semantic distance between relations to assist the classifier in assigning multiple semantically similar relations to multi-label instances. This paper proposes to learn relation correlations from both global and local views using entity type constraints, which means that the subject-object entity types limit the scope of possible relations. Globally, we statistically construct the Type-constrained Graph between entity types and relations, which formulates all possible subject/object types for each relation. Different relations are connected by common entity types, reflecting the desired correlations. Locally, given an entity pair, the classification probability of relations matching its entity types should be greater than those unmatched. Therefore, the Type-constrained Loss is proposed to make the matched relations have greater probabilities. Detailed experiments are conducted on DocRED and DWIE datasets, and our model significantly outperforms baselines under long-tail and multi-label setups. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Improved cross-media relevance model for automatic image annotation

Automatic image annotation has been an active research topic in the last decade due to its potentially large impact on image retrieval, object recognition and image understanding. Many approaches have been proposed for image annotation in recent years. The most influential annotation model is relevance model, whose representative algorithm is Cross-Media Relevance Model (CMRM). In this paper, to overcome the shortcomings of the original CMRM, we propose improved CMRM. In the improved CMRM, the annotation word distribution is estimated using binary probability, the significance of blob is discriminately depicted using TF-IDF (term frequency-inverse document frequency) schemes, and the similarity measurement of blob is based on blob and continuousvalued feature vector. The experimental results on the standard Corel5K dataset show that our proposed approach outperforms the original CMRM by about 111% and 73% in terms of F1 and N+ measures respectively. The improved CMRM can get better performance in specific domains such as cultural heritage and special necessities digitization for ethnic minorities. © 2012 ICIC International.

MI-CAT: A Transformer-Based Domain Adaptation Network for Motor

Due to its convenience and safety, electroencephalography (EEG) data is one of the most widely used signals in motor imagery (MI) brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). In recent years, methods based on deep learning have been widely applied to the field of BCIs, and some studies have gradually tried to apply Transformer to EEG signal decoding due to its superior global information focusing ability. However, EEG signals vary from subject to subject. Based on Transformer, how to effectively use data from other subjects (source domain) to improve the classification performance of a single subject (target domain) remains a challenge. To fill this gap, we propose a novel architecture called MI-CAT. The architecture innovatively utilizes Transformer's self-attention and cross-attention mechanisms to interact features to resolve differential distribution between different domains. Specifically, we adopt a patch embedding layer for the extracted source and target features to divide the features into multiple patches. Then, we comprehensively focus on the intra-domain and inter-domain features by stacked multiple Cross-Transformer Blocks (CTBs), which can adaptively conduct bidirectional knowledge transfer and information exchange between domains. Furthermore, we also utilize two non-shared domain-based attention blocks to efficiently capture domain-dependent information, optimizing the features extracted from the source and target domains to assist in feature alignment. To evaluate our method, we conduct extensive experiments on two real public EEG datasets, Dataset IIb and Dataset IIa, achieving competitive performance with an average classification accuracy of 85.26% and 76.81%, respectively. Experimental results demonstrate that our method is a powerful model for decoding EEG signals and facilitates the development of the Transformer for brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). © 2023, The Authors. Image retrieval algorithm based on response value center weighted convolution feature

A novel cross-entropy-based loss is proposed，which is applied to a classical convolutional neural network to obtain a better embedding space. A convolutional feature aggregation algorithm based on the weighting of the center of the response value is designed to process the three-dimensional convolutional features obtained by the neural network. The algorithm obtains the spatial weighting coefficient of the feature map by calculating the current position response value and the Gaussian center. The algorithm reduces the loss of information when the 3D convolution feature map is reduced to a 1D image feature descriptor and realizes the enhancement of the target area. Finally，the obtained image feature descriptors are used for retrieval tasks. On the CUB-200-2011 dataset，the effectiveness of the loss function and the response value center weighting algorithm are respectively verified by ablation experiments. Compared with the current retrieval methods，higher precision and recall rates have been obtained on the four datasets of Paris6k，Oxford5k，CUB-200-2011 and CARS196. © 2022 Editorial Board of Jilin University.
