In the case of standalone houses, ensuring a continuous and regulated power supply from renewable sources is crucial. To address their unpredictable nature, an environmentally conscious hybrid renewable energy system combining photovoltaic panels, a battery, and a Diesel generator is considered. A software application simulates the power flow in a standalone house with common AC loads, analysing summer and winter scenarios over 24 hours. The strategy employed provides an optimal energy management by using the Diesel generator only during peak demand when PV is available and to cover loads and maintain battery life when PV is not in operation. The simulation results provide valuable insights for designing such hybrid energy systems and for enhancing system responsiveness to dynamic energy demands.

In this article, the main definitions and differentiation concepts of neutrosophic fuzzy environment will be reviewed. The most abundantly available renewable energy source on the earth is solar energy. Conventionally, this energy is converted into electric energy with the help of photovoltaic cells. The efficiency of this commercially available technology is around 5-25%. This article deals with the investigation of an innovative energy harvesting system that uses a Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) to utilize solar heat for generating electric power. SMA shows significant deflection when heated and this characteristic is used to develop a SMA based heat engine. This work proposes a heat engine where a SMA wire is used to convert solar radiation to perform mechanical work. Further, the mechanical work is used to drive a rotary electric generator to produce electric energy. The SMA used for this purpose is Nitinol wire, which absorbs heat from the solar radiation and transforms the same initially to mechanical motion, which later is used to produce electric power. Initially, the SMA element is curved in shape, and it shows a significant deflection when it receives the heat from solar radiation. This deflection of the SMA element is used to operate a rotary electric generator to produce electric energy. The theoretical calculations for balance of the energy flow from incident solar radiations to output electric energy is discussed. The developed prototype shows around 4.5% efficiency with an average power of 2.4 mW.

This paper presents theoretical and experimental studies on the superconductivity of Pb0.64Bi0.36 alloy, which is a prototype of strongly coupled superconductors and exhibits one of the strongest coupling under ambient pressure among the materials studied so far. The critical temperature, the specific heat in the superconducting state, and the magnetic critical fields are experimentally determined. Deviations from the single-gap s-wave BCS-like behavior are observed. The electronic structure, phonons and electron-phonon interactions are analyzed in relation to the metallic Pb, explaining why the Pb-Bi alloy exhibits such a large value of the electron-phonon coupling parameter λ 2. Superconductivity is studied using the isotropic Eliashberg formalism as well as the anisotropic density functional theory for superconductors. We find that while Pb is a two-gap superconductor with well-defined separate superconducting gaps, in the Pb-Bi alloy an overlapped three-gap-like structure is formed with a strong anisotropy. Furthermore, the chemical disorder, inherent to this alloy, leads to strong electron scattering, which is found to reduce the critical temperature. © 2024, CC BY.

In this paper, we address the optimal operation of energy communities, under energy production and consumption uncertainties. In the nominal case, the operational problem is formulated as the maximization of the profit of the community over a given time horizon. Inspired by the regulation adopted in Italy since 2020, the profit includes an incentive for the self-consumption realized at the community level in each time period. In the presence of uncertainties, we use a robust formulation aiming at maximizing the worst profit achievable when energy production and consumption deviate from their nominal values. The model results in a robust scheduling policy of battery charging/discharging, guaranteeing feasible operation of the community in all scenarios of the uncertainty set. On the other hand, numerical results show that the nominal scheduling policy may suffer from a high constraint violation probability. © 2023 IEEE.

We propose a novel methodology for estimating the epidemiological parameters of a modified SIRD model (acronym of Susceptible, Infected, Recovered and Deceased individuals) and perform a short-term forecast of SARS-CoV-2 virus spread. We mainly focus on forecasting number of deceased. The procedure was tested on reported data for Poland. For some short-time intervals we performed numerical test investigating stability of parameter estimates in the proposed approach. Numerical experiments confirm the effectiveness of short-term forecasts (up to 2 weeks) and stability of the method. We discuss the phase transition and critical exponents in the random allocation model (urn model) for different statistical ensembles. We provide a unified presentation of the statistical properties of the model in the thermodynamic limit, uncover relationships between the thermodynamic potentials, and fill some lacunae in previous results on the singularities of these potentials at the critical point and behavior in the thermodynamic limit. The presentation is intended to be self-contained, so we carefully derive all formulas step by step throughout. Additionally, we comment on a quasiprobabilistic normalization of configuration weights, which was considered in some recent studies.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality and morbidity among women worldwide. Early detection plays a crucial role in improving survival rates and BI-RADS classification is one of the effective ways of predicting breast cancer. However, BI-RADS Category 4 encompasses a broad spectrum of malignancy probabilities, ranging from over 2% to 95%. Due to the wide malignancy likelihood range and the ambiguous qualitative attributes of BI-RADS 4, patients are subjected to overdiagnosis and unnecessary procedures, such as biopsy, which entail a certain degree of physical trauma as well as financial strain. This study proposed a lightweight CNN where MobileNet serves as the backbone architecture, augmented with the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), resulting in the MobileNet-CBAM model. The model demonstrated good performance in discriminating BI-RADS 4 category malignant and benign cases in Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammogram (CESM) with a prediction of 82%, 82% and 0.91 for accuracy, f1-score and roc-auc respectively. Additionally, for clinical friendliness, the model explanation was given using SHAP. Hence, the model presents potential utility in predicting breast cancer for lesions categorized as BI-RADS category 4 in breast imaging. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

One of the most well-known and effective data mining approaches is the decision tree. Many researchers have established and thoroughly investigated this technique. On the other hand, some decision tree algorithms may yield a complex structure that is difficult to comprehend. In addition, data misclassification is common during the learning process. Pruning can be utilized as a fundamental procedure to solve this problem. To improve generalization, it eliminates the use of noisy, contradictory data. In this paper, we propose a new pre-pruning method that prunes weak nodes with a high probability. The experimental results are verified using 24 benchmark datasets from the UCI machine learning repository. The results indicate that our new tree pruning method is a feasible way of pruning decision trees. © 2022 IEEE.

All data sent to and from IOT devices, (as well as any data held), must be encrypted in order to enhance the security of IOT devices. At the moment, elliptic curve cryptosystems (ECCs) are used as fundamental building blocks to secure communication in the Internet of Things. Yet, forthcoming quantum computers can quickly compromise public key systems like ECC. We should take action right away to get the IOT ready for the quantum future due to recent developments in quantum computing. This paper at first will give a brief overview on Crystal - Kyber, SIKE and BIKE algorithm which are among the NIST's third round candidate. Then the comparison of these three on the basis of key size, computational power and memory requirement. Finally a recommendation on the most suitable algorithm for making IoT secure in quantum world. © 2023 IEEE.
