This paper investigates the efficacy of learning algorithms for training Fuzzy Flip-Flop Neural Networks, focusing on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and memetic PSO variants. The study explores their performance across diverse datasets, including Breast Cancer Wisconsin, Seeds, and Glass. Results demonstrate that memetic PSO variants, consistently outperform other algorithms in terms of classification accuracy and reduced saturation levels. The examination of different crossover strategies within the memetic PSO framework provides insights into their impact on learning performance. Overall, this research highlights the superiority of memetic PSO algorithms in optimising Fuzzy Flip-Flop Neural Networks for classification tasks with complex datasets, suggesting their potential for broader applications.

This paper demonstrated a Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser(EDFL)using an organic saturable absorber(SA)based on 8-HQCdCl_(2)H_(2)O *** organic thin film was prepared using the casting *** proposed Q-switched EDFL has a maximum repetition rate of 143 kHz,minimum pulse duration of 1.85μs and the highest pulse energy of 167 *** Q-switched peak laser was at a central wavelength of 1531 nm with a 3 dB bandwidth of 3.52 nm and power intensity of 2.64 dBm.

In this work, we investigate two salient chaotic features, namely Lyapunov exponent and butterfly velocity, in the context of an asymptotically Lifshitz black hole background with an arbitrary critical exponent. These features are computed using three methods: entanglement wedge method, out-of-time-ordered correlator computation and pole-skipping. We present a comparative study of the aforementioned features where all of these methods yield exactly similar results for the butterfly velocity and Lyapunov exponent. This establishes an equivalence between all three methods for probing chaos in the chosen gravity background. Furthermore, we evaluate the chaos at the classical level by computing the eikonal phase and Lyapunov exponent from the bulk gravity. These quantities emerge as nontrivial functions of the anisotropy index. By examining the classical eikonal phase, we uncover different scattering scenarios in the near-horizon and near-boundary regimes. We also discuss potential limitations regarding the choice of the turning point of the null geodesic in our approach. © 2024, CC BY.

Designs, structures connected to averaging with respect to a given measure using finite sets of points, have proven themselves to be invaluable tools across the field of quantum information, finding their uses in state and process tomography, key distribution, and others. In this work, we introduce a concept of pushforward designs that allows us to obtain new structures from already existing ones by mapping them between the spaces, with specific examples including simplex designs and mixed state designs from complex projective designs. Based on the general concept, we put forward a structure called channel [t,k]-design, allowing for averaging over space of quantum channels for systems in contact with an environment of dimension k. Based on this notion, we introduce the concept of effective environment dimensionality k*, which we estimate for the IBM Kyoto quantum computer to be below 2.2 for times up to 350µs.

Acceptance dependence of factorial cumulants, long-range correlations, and the antiproton puzzle

We analyze joint factorial cumulants of protons and antiprotons in relativistic heavy-ion collisions and point out that they obey the scaling (Formula presented) as a function of acceptance when only long-range correlations are present in the system, such as global baryon conservation and volume fluctuations. This hypothesis can be directly tested experimentally without the need for corrections for volume fluctuations. We show that if correlations among protons and antiprotons are driven by global baryon conservation and volume fluctuations only, the equality (Formula presented) holds for large systems created in central collisions. We point out that the experimental data of the STAR Collaboration from phase I of RHIC beam energy scan are approximately consistent with the scaling (Formula presented), but the normalized antiproton correlations are stronger than that of protons, (Formula presented)2, indicating that global baryon conservation and volume fluctuations alone cannot explain the data. We also discuss high-order factorial cumulants which can be measured with sufficient precision within phase II of RHIC-BES. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Protein-protein interactions are of great significance for human to understand the functional mechanisms of *** the rapid development of high-throughput genomic technologies,massive protein-protein interaction(PPI)data have been generated,making it very difficult to analyze them *** address this problem,this paper presents a distributed framework by reimplementing one of state-of-the-art algorithms,i.e.,CoFex,using *** do so,an in-depth analysis of its limitations is conducted from the perspectives of efficiency and memory consumption when applying it for large-scale PPI data analysis and *** solutions are then devised to overcome these *** particular,we adopt a novel tree-based data structure to reduce the heavy memory consumption caused by the huge sequence information of *** that,its procedure is modified by following the MapReduce framework to take the prediction task distributively.A series of extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of our framework in terms of both efficiency and *** results well demonstrate that the proposed framework can considerably improve its computational efficiency by more than two orders of magnitude while retaining the same high accuracy.

Discovery of the high thermoelectric performance in low-cost Cu8SiSxSe6-x argyrodites

Cu-based argyrodites have gained much attention as a new class of thermoelectric materials for energy harvesting. However, the phase transition occurring in these materials and low energy conversion performance limited their broad application in thermoelectric converters. In this work, we disclose a newly discovered highly efficient Cu8SiSxSe6-x argyrodite with stabilized high-symmetry cubic phase at above 282 K opening the practical potential of this material for the mid-temperature region applications. The temperature range broadening of the high-symmetry phase existence was possible due to the successful substitution of Se with S in Cu8SiSxSe6-x, which enhances the configurational entropy. The developed argyrodites show excellent thermoelectric performance thanks to the increased density of states effective mass and ultralow lattice thermal conductivity. Further tuning of the carrier concentration through the Cu-deviation improves the thermoelectric performance significantly. The dimensionless thermoelectric figure of merit ZT and estimated energy conversion efficiency η for Cu7.95SiS3Se3 achieve outstanding values of the 1.45 and 13 %, respectively, offering this argyrodite as a low-cost and Te-free alternative for the thermoelectric energy conversion applications. This paper presents a beamforming method based on a binary genetic algorithm. Widely known for their ability to increase the performance of antenna arrays, beamforming techniques are expected to play a major role in 5G systems. For reaching low peaks side lobe level (PSLL) in antenna design, it is necessary to optimize the amplitude weights of a linear antenna array. By optimizing the amplitude weight of the array's elements, a method for achieving a low side lobe level is explored. Utilized is a binary genetic algorithm with single point crossover and roulette wheel selection. The minimum SLL (minimize side lobe levels) for the radiation pattern is the cost function that is employed. The convergence of the optimization algorithm is demonstrated by simulations under Matlab environment and, its utility is shown in getting a desired antenna beam pattern, BGA converges before 50 generations in all the considered cases, We have seen that the level of the secondary lobes reaches nearly -30 dB for all the networks. We also note that the more the size of the antenna array increases, the more the number of iterations necessary for convergence is high. © 2022 IEEE.

Particulate matter (PM) is one of the largest contributors to air pollution and is associated with several adverse health effects. In this study, we collected PM1 and PM2.5 samples in Gdynia (northern Poland) during five campaigns in January–March and September–October 2022. Analysis of the chemical composition of these aerosols (organic carbon [OC], elemental carbon [EC] and water-soluble ions) supplemented with their carbon isotope signatures (δ13CTC), meteorological parameters, HYSPLIT air masses backward trajectories and PCA-MLRA receptor modelling allowed us to recognize the significant differences in seasonal concentrations of both aerosol fractions and to identify the potential sources/processes that influenced their chemical composition. In general, the influence of both the anthropogenic sources, mainly related to fuel combustion and agricultural/fertilization activity, as well as natural sources, particular terrigenous was found. PCA-MLRA revealed that fuel burning contributed on average, with 77.9 % and 83.7 % to total PM1 and PM2.5 mass, respectively, while agricultural activities represented, 9.5 % and 9.1 % of PM1 and PM2.5 mass, respectively. Despite the location of the measurement station in the vicinity of the sea coastal zone, during the analysed period it was not found that the sea water was a dominant source of aerosols in both size fractions, contributed with 9.2 % and 4.6 % to total PM1 and PM2.5 mass, respectively. Regardless of the season several indicators – OC/EC, EC/TC, K+/TC and TC/SO42− − supported the important influence of coal burning, with a less important contribution from biomass burning. The maturation processes in the atmosphere were also important. For PM1 aerosols the clear 13C enrichment during the heating period was noticed, what was confirmed by isotope mass balance (Keeling plot approach, −25.05 ‰ ± 0.21 ‰ and − 25.90 ‰ ± 0.28 ‰ in the heating and vegetative seasons, respectively). Cybercrimes are multiplying and spreading at an elusive speed commensurate with the emerging technologies of the fourth revolution. Their sophistication and user’s vulnerability to attacks catalyze their success. Several surveys have been conducted to determine the factors favoring victimization. However, they can only be applied within a contextual framework since each ecosystem has particularities. Attempts in this direction are unavailable in Cameroon where cybercrimes cost 12.2 billion CFA in 2021. This work consists of a semi-direct survey conducted in Cameroon in 2021 to provide the determinants explaining the most frequent cybercriminal techniques, the vulnerabilities left by the users, the most targeted population segments, and the socio-demographic and economic factors justifying this security fragility. The results relate to 370 questionnaires collected throughout the territory. According to descriptive statistics and the chi-square test, the explanatory variables of cybercrime victimization are gender, age, intellectual level, level of digital knowledge, level of Information and Communication technology (ICT) proficiency, type of equipment used, the mobile and desktop operating system used, the possession of an anti-virus/anti-spam and the marital status. Within this work, we have identified threats and their drivers and a theoretical framework has been provided with several stages that could be followed to contain cybercrime. © 2023, ICST Institute for computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.
