As a new unsupervised learning technique, manifold learning has captured the attention of many researchers in the field of machine learning and cognitive sciences. The major algorithms include Isometric mapping (ISOMAP) and Locally Linear Embedding (LLE). The approaches can be used for discovering the intrinsic dimensions of nonlinear high-dimensional data effectively and aim researchers to analyze the data better. How to quantitatively analyze the relationship between the intrinsic dimensions and the observation space, however, has fewer reports. And thus further works in manifold learning may have suffered some difficulties. The paper focuses on two kinds of manifold learning algorithms (ISOMAP, LLE), and discusses magnification factors and principal spread directions from the observation space to the intrinsic low-dimensional space. Also the corresponding algorithm is proposed. Experiments show the effectiveness and advantages of the research.

In this paper, a 3D collaborative editing environment based on interactive transaction log is put forward and moreover the system architecture is presented. The collaborative mechanism is discussed and the collision detection of manipulation and application strategy during the course of multi-user concurrency editing is studied, the interactive gesture appropriate to 3D model and application methods are studied too. Finally a prototype system is built, which obtains satisfied result in practice.

An approach for tracking the impact is regression benchmarking, which involves automated benchmarking and evaluation of performance at regular intervals. Regression benchmarking must tackle the nondeterminism inherent to contemporary computer systems and execution environments and the impact of the nondeterminism on the results. On the example of a fully automated regression benchmarking environment for the mono open-source project, we show how the problems associated with nondeterminism can be tackled using statistical methods.

This paper presents a novel approach to implementing dynamic LOD on GPU. For our purpose, a quadtree structure is created based on seamless geometry image atlas, which is a 3D surface representation in parameter space by combining the features of geometry images and poly-cube maps. All the nodes in the quadtree are packed into the atlas textures. There are two rendering passes in our approach. In the first pass, the LOD selection is performed in the fragment shaders. The resultant buffer is taken as the input texture to the second rendering pass by vertex texturing, and thus the node culling and triangulation can be performed in the vertex shaders. Our LOD algorithm can generate adaptive meshes dynamically, and can be fully implemented on GPU. It improves the efficiency of LOD selection, and alleviates the computing load on CPU.

Recently, Web services have become a new technology trend for Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and more and more applications based on Web services are emerging. One of the problems in using Web services in business applications such as logistics is services composition automatically and efficiently. In this paper, we present a Dynamic, Demand-Driven Web services Engine called D3D-Serv to implement composite service functionality that is used to dynamically build composite services from existing services according to different business logics and requirements. In this D3D_Serv framework, the most challenging function to implement is dynamic selection of service providers at run time. The highly dynamic and distributed nature of Web services often makes some service providers overloaded at certain times while others idle. To solve this problem, we propose an efficient services selection and execution strategy that is based on the queuing theory and can provide guarantees for the QOS (Quality of Service) under provider's limited resources. Preliminary experimental results have shown that this algorithm is effective.

Collecting network traffic is becoming a more challenging task in passive network measurement due to the rapid growth of link speed. Flow-based network traffic capture and storage is an efficient way for high-speed network measurement. Based on the statistical investigation of the correlations between flow size and the maximum packet interinterval time of consecutive packets within a flow, we obtain the empirical conditional distribution functions for some popular TCP protocol-based application flows, and then propose a probability-guaranteed adaptive timeout algorithm (PGAT) for flow termination decision. The assessment criteria for the flow termination decision algorithm is systematically developed. Comparisons on flow generation ratio, flow intact ratio, and mean flow extra retaining time metrics indicate that the PGAT algorithm can obtain more attractive performance than other schemes.

Recent research shows that one of remarkable characteristic is the fractal nature of the investigated network traffic, especially the multifractal phenomena over small time scale. In this paper, based on multifractal wavelet analysis, we perform the efficient queue tail analysis in an infinite capacity single server queue serviced at a constant rate driven by general multifractal input process. With the scale nature of wavelet, it is more convenient and accurate to perform the tail asymptotic analysis in wavelet domain than the analysis one. These results are validated by queuing simulation of the measured network traffic traces.
