The dynamic knowledge graph is a data structure that adds temporal information to the nodes and edges of a traditional knowledge graph. It describes the changing processes of entities and relationships over time, thereby enriching and updating the expression of knowledge. The dynamic knowledge graph possesses characteristics such as time and labels;it is not only a knowledge graph but also a type of dynamic graph containing heterogeneous information. To address the issue that traditional dynamic graph visualization methods do not account for heterogeneous information in the layout, leading to a relatively random distribution of node labels in the visualization results, this paper proposes DKGV, a dynamic knowledge graph visualization method based on a force-directed layout. DKGV utilizes an improved GCN to generate the initial layout of the dynamic knowledge graph data, performs static force-directed layout iterative processing, and conducts dynamic force-directed layout calculations on the dynamic knowledge graph. Finally, it employs a force-directed layout with boundaries to support three-dimensional temporal display after view transformation. Experimental results show that DKGV can maintain the stability of the node layout during the evolution of the dynamic knowledge graph while making the overall layout more regular to better display the relationships between entities. © 2024 ACM.

TruVRF: Toward Triple-Granularity Verification on Machine Unlearning

The right to be forgotten has incentivized machine unlearning, but a key challenge persists: the lack of reliable methods to verify unlearning conducted by model providers. This gap facilitates dishonest model providers to deceive data contributors. Current approaches often rely on invasive methods like backdoor injection. However, it poses security concerns and is also inapplicable to legacy data—already released data. To tackle this challenge, this work initializes the first non-invasive unlearning verification framework which operates at triple-granularity (class-, volume-, sample-level) to assess the data facticity and volume integrity of machine unlearning. In this paper, we propose a framework, named TruVRF, encompasses three Unlearning-Metrics, each tailored to counter different types of dishonest model providers or servers (Neglecting Server, Lazy Server, Deceiving Server). TruVRF leverages non-invasive model sensitivity to enable multi-granularity verification of unlearning. Specifically, Unlearning-Metric-I checks if the removed class matches the data contributor’s unlearning request, Unlearning-Metric-II measures the amount of unlearned data, and Unlearning-Metric-III validates the correspondence of a specific unlearned sample with the requested deletion. We conducted extensive evaluations of TruVRF efficacy across three datasets, and notably, we also evaluated the effectiveness and computational overhead of TruVRF in real-world applications for the face recognition dataset. Our experimental results demonstrate that TruVRF achieves robust verification performance: Unlearning-Metric-I and -III achieve over 90% verification accuracy on average against dishonest servers, while Unlearning-Metric-II maintains an inference deviation within 4.8% to 8.2%. Additionally, TruVRF demonstrates generalizability across diverse conditions, including varying numbers of unlearned classes and sample volumes. Strong linearizability is a variant of linearizability and is more suitable for verification. In this paper we investigate the following two problems: (1) for which deterministic sequential specifications there exist linearizable but not strongly linearizable objects;(2) can we capture any violation scheme of strong linearizability for practical objects that are linearizable but not strongly linearizable. To deal with the first problem, we propose two classes of deterministic sequential specifications called inclusively-permutative sequential specifications and exclusively-permutative sequential specifications. The first class of sequential specifications contains sequential specifications of counter, register, max-register, snapshot, set, queue, stack and priority queue. The second class of sequential specifications contains sequential specifications of blocking queue, blocking stack and blocking priority queue. To establish these results, we propose a uniform methodology to construct a wait-free, linearizable but not strongly linearizable object for these two classes of sequential specifications. Our universal construction is based on the classical universal construction, and it additionally permits each operation to change the "take-effect-order" of previous operations. To deal with the second problem, we use bi-branch distinguishable executions to represent violations of strong linearizability. We investigate eight objects that are linearizable but not strongly linearizable, and we show that for each object, it has a pair of bi-branch distinguishable executions such that our universal construction can generate another pair of bi-branch distinguishable executions with the same set of histories. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Modeling stochastic multi-ship trajectories is vital for maritime safety and interaction efficiency. Recent researches show that diffusion models excel in trajectory prediction, surpassing GANs and VAEs in generation quality, diversity and stability. However, their slow sampling speed remains a major limitation, as producing high-quality trajectories typically requires hundreds of denoising steps. We introduce DDA, a novel method that accelerates multi-ship trajectory generation by distilling the reverse diffusion process, progressively reducing sampling steps by half while minimizing quality loss. We use CVAE-based encoder to map multimodal inputs into state embeddings in the latent space, and use distillation diffusion in the latent space to more quickly and better represent multi-ship trajectories. The diffusion model uses Transformer-based core, and we incorporate SO(2) invariance and equivariance to enhance model representation. Validation on real-world AIS datasets shows that the student model retains high-quality trajectory generation while sampling speed is approximately 30 times faster. © 2025 IEEE.

Risk management and optimised security control selection in information technology, particularly information security, is crucial for identifying and mitigating organisational threats. Information security control selection and planning are challenging due to limited resources such as funding, time and staffing. This research article is an academic exposition in which a quantitative method of evaluating cyber security risk and utilizing principles of Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT) to optimize the allocation of resources and funding to select security controls to mitigate an organization's specific security risk and in addition reduce and organisations attack surface as the identified Return on Investment (ROI). This article details and illustrates a novel model that uses quantitative risk evaluation methods such as Monte Carlo simulations as opposed to the widely used qualitative methods in the aim to provide organisations with empirical data to make informed decisions, using Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT), when selecting and managing a portfolio of security controls such as Anti-DDOS solutions, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) solutions.

Multimodal sarcasm detection (MSD) is essential for various downstream tasks. Existing MSD methods tend to rely on spurious correlations. These methods often mistakenly prioritize non-essential features yet still make correct predictions, demonstrating poor generalizability beyond training environments. Regarding this phenomenon, this paper undertakes several initiatives. Firstly, we identify two primary causes that lead to the reliance of spurious correlations. Secondly, we address these challenges by proposing a novel method that integrate Multimodal Incongruities via Contrastive Learning (MICL) for multimodal sarcasm detection. Specifically, we first leverage incongruity to drive multi-view learning from three views: token-patch, entity-object, and sentiment. Then, we introduce extensive data augmentation to mitigate the biased learning of the textual modality. Additionally, we construct a test set, SPMSD, which consists potential spurious correlations to evaluate the the model's generalizability. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of MICL on benchmark datasets, along with the analyses showcasing MICL's advancement in mitigating the effect of spurious correlation. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

PathNetDRP: a novel biomarker discovery framework using pathway and protein–protein interaction networks for immune checkpoint inhibitor response prediction

Background: Predicting immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) response remains a significant challenge in cancer immunotherapy. Many existing approaches rely on differential gene expression analysis or predefined immune signatures, which may fail to capture the complex regulatory mechanisms underlying immune response. Network-based models attempt to integrate biological interactions, but they often lack a quantitative framework to assess how individual genes contribute within pathways, limiting the specificity and interpretability of biomarkers. Given these limitations, we developed PathNetDRP, a framework that integrates biological pathways, protein-protein interaction networks, and machine learning to identify functionally relevant biomarkers for ICI response prediction. Results: We introduce PathNetDRP, a novel biomarker discovery approach that applies the PageRank algorithm to prioritize ICI-associated genes, maps them to relevant biological pathways, and calculates PathNetGene scores to quantify their contribution to immune response. Unlike conventional methods that focus solely on gene expression differences, PathNetDRP systematically incorporates biological context to improve biomarker selection. Validation across multiple independent cancer cohorts showed that PathNetDRP achieved strong predictive performance, with cross-validation the area under the receiver operating characteristic curves increasing from 0.780 to 0.940. Interestingly, PathNetDRP did not merely improve predictive accuracy;it also provided insights into key immune-related pathways, reinforcing its potential for identifying clinically relevant biomarkers. Conclusion: The biomarkers identified by PathNetDRP demonstrated robust predictive performance across cross-validation and independent validation datasets, suggesting their potential utility in clinical applications. Human motion prediction is of great importance for artificial intelligence systems, particularly in fields like autonomous driving and human-computer interaction. Existing methods have achieved good results in simple motions with small changes but still struggle with coherence in predicting complex motions with large changes in a short time. Regarding the issue in current methods, this paper proposes a novel network composed of three modules: spatial encoders that captures correlations between joints, temporal encoders that models the movement patterns of joints across frames, and a multi-frame temporal encoder that learns high-level temporal correlations to enhance prediction coherence. In addition, we propose to use Weighted Mean Per-Joint Position Error (WMPJPE) as the loss function by considering that different joints of the human skeleton have different effects on the entire action. We evaluate our method on the Human3.6M, AMASS, and 3DPW datasets. The quantitative results indicate that our method notably outperforms other methods in the prediction range of 160ms to 560ms. With the rapid development of space technology, the role of satellite communications has become progressively significant. Non-terrestrial communication is deemed a critical scenario in the sixth generation (6G) communication systems, which showcases seamless connectivity, minimal geographic constraints and substantial communication capacity. Simultaneously, satellites and terminals spring up, spatial density increases, which further emphasizes the scarcity of spectrum resources. Consequently, to improve spectrum utilization for non-terrestrial communication is a significant concern. Spectrum sensing, which allows dynamic resource reuse, plays an important role in 6G. However, high mobility in non-terrestrial scenarios poses great challenges, such as fast time-varying channels, Doppler effect, etc., which seriously affect sensing accuracy and cannot well support optimal spectrum utilization. Motivated by such circumstances, this paper proposes an elastic sensing method for the downlink non-terrestrial communication scenario. Firstly, we design the system architecture and sensing workflow. To overcome the negative effects raised by high mobility, we propose the elastic sensing criterion and multi-area dividing scheme for the sensing zone. Thresholds affected by the elastic sensing are derived for different areas. Finally, the numerical results show that from -10 dB to -5 dB, the proposed method can improve the total performance by an average of 28.3% while stabilizing the false alarm probability around 0.1 typical level and demonstrating higher constancy compared with traditional technologies from −10 dB to −5 dB. © 2002-2012 IEEE.
