Long-term time series forecasting is a long-standing challenge in various applications. A central issue in time series forecasting is that methods should expressively capture long-term dependency. Furthermore, time series forecasting methods should be flexible when applied to different scenarios. Although Fourier analysis offers an alternative to effectively capture reusable and periodic patterns to achieve long-term forecasting in different scenarios, existing methods often assume high-frequency components represent noise and should be discarded in time series forecasting. However, we conduct a series of motivation experiments and discover that the role of certain frequencies varies depending on the scenarios. In some scenarios, removing high-frequency components from the original time series can improve the forecasting performance, while in others scenarios, removing them is harmful to forecasting performance. Therefore, it is necessary to treat the frequencies differently according to specific scenarios. To achieve this, we first reformulate the time series forecasting problem as learning a transfer function of each frequency in the Fourier domain. Further, we design Frequency Dynamic Fusion (FreDF), which individually predicts each Fourier component, and dynamically fuses the output of different frequencies. Moreover, we provide a novel insight into the generalization ability of time series forecasting and propose the generalization bound of time series forecasting. Then we prove FreDF has a lower bound, indicating that FreDF has better generalization ability. Extensive experiments conducted on multiple benchmark datasets and ablation studies demonstrate the effectiveness of FreDF. © 2024 Owner/Author.

Semantic-Aware Pseudo-Labeling for Unsupervised Meta-Learning

In unsupervised meta-learning, the clustering-based pseudo-labeling approach is an attractive framework, since it is model-agnostic, allowing it to synergize with supervised algorithms to learn from unlabeled data. However, the pseudo-labels suffer from clustering noise and semantic chaos problems, further impacting the effectiveness of meta-learning. In this paper, we analyze and optimize the pseudo-labeling process, including encoding and clustering, aiming to generate semantic-like pseudo-labels to narrow the gap between unsupervised and supervised meta-learning. First, during the encoding, we observe that the embedding space of existing methods lacks clustering-friendly properties, which is the primary reason for clustering noise. To address this issue, we minimize the inter-to-intra-class similarity ratio to generate clustering-friendly embedding features and validate our approach through comprehensive experiments. Then, during the clustering, we find that the semantic quality of pseudo-labels is not adequately controlled, resulting in semantic chaos of pseudo-labels. We propose a semantic-stability index to measure the semantic quality of pseudo-labels quantitatively. Based on this index, we propose the Semantic-aware Pseudo-label Reassignment mechanism to generate semantic-like pseudo-labels for all samples. Our approach is model-agnostic and can easily be integrated into existing supervised methods. To demonstrate its generalization ability, we integrate it into two representative algorithms: MAML and EP. The results on three main few-shot benchmarks clearly show that the proposed method achieves significant improvement compared to state-of-the-art models. Notably, our approach also outperforms the corresponding supervised method in three tasks. © 1979-2012 IEEE.

Automatic Music Transcription (AMT) entails creating an algorithm that converts an acoustic signal from an audio file into the corresponding sheet music representation. This paper uses deep learning methods and models AMT as a translation problem, comparing the effectiveness of an instance-based translation approach using an MLP to a sequence-based approach using an RNN. The models were trained on the EsAc dataset and evaluated using MUSTER metrics. The results show that the instance-based model better classifies the correct pitch. However, the sequence-based approach outperforms the instance-based approach on all other aspects of the MUSTER metrics, producing a 98% accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Goal-oriented requirements engineering (GORE) for Systems of Systems (SoS) includes combining individual operational systems local goals to achieve higher-level goals. GORE offers a structured approach to managing complex requirements, ensuring that strategic goals are translated into operational tasks. This paper provides a review of GORE frameworks, including those incorporating Model-Based Systems engineering (MBSE), that could be used in the management of complex Systems of Systems. The paper analyzes recent GORE frameworks such as CGS4Adaptation which combines Goals and SysML for managing adaptive Socio-Cyber-Physical Systems (SCPSs);GORE-based approach to Energy Management Systems (EnMS);Model-Based and Goal-Oriented Approach for the conceptual design of smart grid services;GORE and reference architecture approach for microgrid systems;and Adaptation-Oriented Requirement Modeling approach (ADORE). A comparative analysis is conducted to assess the extent of effectiveness these frameworks provide for improving SoS traceability, adaptability, and system design integrity. The paper concludes with key findings on the strengths and limitations of the considered frameworks, on the basis of which, major conclusions on how GORE combined with MBSE can be used for managing SoS requirements in Smart Grid (SG) and socio-cyber-physical systems could be drawn. This review paper also contributes to the requirements engineering domain by outlining effective strategies for designing and managing complex, adaptive Systems of Systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Semi-supervised multi-organ medical image segmentation aids physicians in improving disease diagnosis and treatment planning and reduces the time and effort required for organ *** state-of-the-art methods train the labeled data with ground truths and train the unlabeled data with pseudo-labels. However, the two training flows are separate, which does not reflect the interrelationship between labeled and unlabeled *** address this issue, we propose a semi-supervised multi-organ segmentation method called GuidedNet, which leverages the knowledge from labeled data to guide the training of unlabeled data. The primary goals of this study are to improve the quality of pseudo-labels for unlabeled data and to enhance the network's learning capability for both small and complex organs.A key concept is that voxel features from labeled and unlabeled data that are close to each other in the feature space are more likely to belong to the same *** this basis, a 3D Consistent Gaussian Mixture Model (3D-CGMM) is designed to leverage the feature distributions from labeled data to rectify the generated ***, we introduce a Knowledge Transfer Cross Pseudo Supervision (KT-CPS) strategy, which leverages the prior knowledge obtained from the labeled data to guide the training of the unlabeled data, thereby improving the segmentation accuracy for both small and complex organs. Extensive experiments on two public datasets, FLARE22 and AMOS, demonstrated that GuidedNet is capable of achieving state-of-the-art performance. © 2024 ACM.

Three-dimensional reconstruction of industrial parts from a single image

This study proposes an image-based three-dimensional(3D)vector reconstruction of industrial parts that can gener-ate non-uniform rational B-splines(NURBS)surfaces with high fidelity and *** contributions of this study include three parts:first,a dataset of two-dimensional images is constructed for typical industrial parts,including hex-agonal head bolts,cylindrical gears,shoulder rings,hexagonal nuts,and cylindrical roller bearings;second,a deep learning algorithm is developed for parameter extraction of 3D industrial parts,which can determine the final 3D parameters and pose information of the reconstructed model using two new nets,CAD-ClassNet and CAD-ReconNet;and finally,a 3D vector shape reconstruction of mechanical parts is presented to generate NURBS from the obtained shape *** final reconstructed models show that the proposed approach is highly accurate,efficient,and practical.

Research areas in cooperative multiagent learning have found success in using selection-based methods, such as Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs), in order for agents to measure their own progress within the system, guided by a fitness function. There have also been approaches which combine Genetic Algorithms (GAs) with supervised learning problems, such as decision trees. This research introduces a holonic agent-oriented implementation of a recursively nested Island genetic algorithm, called CLISDE, that builds a decision tree learner. The unique contribution of this paper is to show that Island genetic algorithms can be implemented in a holonic multiagent-based environment, and it can result in a model expressing self-similarity of the problem type and the architecture, achieved by integrating the learning algorithm of decision trees directly into the evolutionary process. The CLISDE GA and three known parallel GA models, namely the Island GA, Master-Slave GA and Hierarchical GA, were evaluated on a classification dataset and their performance metrics were compared. The results showed that the CLISDE GA produces a stronger decision tree predictor.

After adopting 5G technology, businesses and academia have started working on sixth-generation wireless networking (6G) technologies. Mobile communications options are expected to expand in areas where previous generations could not do so. 6G networks are anticipated to be constructed using various diverse technologies. These encompass diverse cutting-edge advancements, such as distributed ledger systems like blockchain, visible light communications (VLC), post-quantum cryptography, edge computing, molecular communication, THz, and other advances. These advances necessitate a reassessment of previous security strategies from a security perspective. In the future, networks must adhere to stricter criteria for authentication, encryption, access control, connectivity, and detection of harmful activities. Ensuring privacy and dependability necessitates the implementation of supplementary security protocols. The essay explores the primary concerns and challenges related to the security of the 6G network. This paper describes the improvements in security in communications from 1G through 6G. This paper divides security in the sixth generation into three layers: physical, connection, and service. Each layer-by-layer discusses the standard technologies and security issues for each technology proposed in each sixth-generation security layer. All proposed solutions for each of the three layers are discussed in Sixth Generation Security. It also reviews all proposed solutions for each layer, indicating the proposed solution and its limitations. © The Author(s) 2025.

With the development of hardware devices and the upgrading of smartphones,a large number of users save privacy-related information in mobile devices,mainly smartphones,which puts forward higher demands on the protection of mobile users’privacy *** present,mobile user authenticationmethods based on humancomputer interaction have been extensively studied due to their advantages of high precision and non-perception,but there are still shortcomings such as low data collection efficiency,untrustworthy participating nodes,and lack of *** this end,this paper proposes a privacy-enhanced mobile user authentication method with motion sensors,which mainly includes:(1)Construct a smart contract-based private chain and federated learning to improve the data collection efficiency of mobile user authentication,reduce the probability of the model being bypassed by attackers,and reduce the overhead of data centralized processing and the risk of privacy leakage;(2)Use certificateless encryption to realize the authentication of the device to ensure the credibility of the client nodes participating in the calculation;(3)Combine Variational Mode Decomposition(VMD)and Long Short-TermMemory(LSTM)to analyze and model the motion sensor data of mobile devices to improve the accuracy of model *** experimental results on the real environment dataset of 1513 people show that themethod proposed in this paper can effectively resist poisoning attacks while ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of mobile user authentication.
