Various technologies and projects have been explored and developed for the synergetic control of environmental pollution and carbon emissions in aquatic *** submerged vegetation in shallow waters was also expected to achieve this ***,the magnitude and mechanism of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emission affected by submerged vegetation is not clear enough in complex aquatic *** study investigated the influences of submerged plants on CO_(2)emission,ecosystem metabolism features,and microbial community traits based on observations in river networks on the Changjiang River *** results showed that CO_(2)emission from planted waters accounted for 73%of unplanted ***,planted waters had higher dissolved organic carbon removal capacity in overlying water and higher potential of carbon sequestration in sediment at the same *** distinctions between the two habitats were attributed to(1)improved CO_(2)and bicarbonate consumption in water columns via enhancing photosynthesis and(2)inhibited CO_(2)production by reconstructing the benthic microbial *** eco-advantages were found in planted sediments,such as a high potential of methane oxidation and xenobiotics biodegradation and a low risk of becoming black and *** brief,submerged vegetation is beneficial in promoting pollution removal and carbon retention *** study advances our understanding of the feedback between aquatic metabolism and CO_(2)emission.

Nonstationary time series are ubiquitous in almost all natural and engineering *** the time-varying signatures from nonstationary time series is still a challenging problem for data *** Time-Frequency Distribution(TFD)provides a powerful tool to analyze these ***,they suffer from Cross-Term(CT)issues that impair the readability of ***,to achieve high-resolution and CT-free TFDs,an end-to-end architecture termed Quadratic TF-Net(QTFN)is proposed in this *** by classic TFD theory,the design of this deep learning architecture is heuristic,which firstly generates various basis functions through ***,more comprehensive TF features can be extracted by these basis ***,to balance the results of various basis functions adaptively,the Efficient Channel Attention(ECA)block is also embedded into ***,a new structure called Muti-scale Residual Encoder-Decoder(MRED)is also proposed to improve the learning ability of the model by highly integrating the multi-scale learning and encoder-decoder ***,although the model is only trained by synthetic signals,both synthetic and real-world signals are tested to validate the generalization capability and superiority of the proposed QTFN.

Cobalt doping amount determines dominant reactive species in peroxymonosulfate activation via porous carbon catalysts co-doped by cobalt and nitrogen

Switching the reaction routes in peroxymonosulfate(PMS)-based advanced oxidation processes have attracted much attention but remain ***,a series of Co-N/C catalysts with different compositions and structures were prepared by using bimetallic zeolitic imidazolate frameworks based on ZIF-8 and ZIF-67(x Zn/Co-ZIFs).Results show that Co doping amount could mediate the transformation of the activation pathway of PMS over CoN/*** Co doping amount was less than 10%,the constructed x Co-N/C/PMS system(x≤10%)was singlet oxygen-dominated reaction;however further increasing Co doping amount would lead to the generation and coexistence of sulfate radicals and high-valent cobalt,besides singlet ***,the nitrogen-coordinated Co(Co-NX)sites could serve as main catalytically active sites to generate singlet *** excess Co doping amount caused the formation of Co nanoparticles from which leached Co ions were responsible for the generation of sulfate radicals and high-valent *** to undoped N/C,Co doping could significantly enhance the catalytic *** 0.5%Co-N/C could achieve the optimum degradation(0.488 min^(-1))and mineralization abilities(78.4%)of sulfamethoxazole among the investigated Co-N/C catalysts,which was superior to most of previously reported *** addition,the application prospects of the two systems in different environmental scenarios(pH,inorganic anions and natural organic matter)were assessed and showed different degradation *** study provides a strategy to regulate the reactive species in PMS-based advanced oxidation process.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are penetrating rapidly into the transport sector, profoundly impacting the electricity and energy sectors. While EVs bring many benefits, they present challenges to utility grid operators, particularly during charging their batteries. Uncoordinated charging stands out as a critical charging strategy requiring attention to mitigate potential adverse effects on power grids. Smart charging and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies enable intelligent and bidirectional power transfer between the EV and the grid taking into account network conditions and requirements. However, the widespread adoption of these technologies depends on the formulation of effective infrastructure and regulatory frameworks. This paper presents the effects of unmanaged charging of EVs on the utility grid power quality such as voltage violations, utility assets overloading and harmonic distortion. The paper also sheds light on some mitigation strategies incorporated in literature to reduce the adverse effects of EV integration. © 2024 The Authors.

Polyphonic sound event localization and detection based on Multiple Attention Fusion ResNet

Sound event localization and detection have been applied in various fields. Due to the polyphony and noise interference, it becomes challenging to accurately predict the sound event and their occurrence locations. Aiming at this problem, we propose a Multiple Attention Fusion ResNet, which uses ResNet34 as the base network. Given the situation that the sound duration is not fixed, and there are multiple polyphonic and noise, we introduce the Gated Channel Transform to enhance the residual basic block. This enables the model to capture contextual information, evaluate channel weights, and reduce the interference caused by polyphony and noise. Furthermore, Split Attention is introduced to the model for capturing cross-channel information, which enhances the ability to distinguish the polyphony. Finally, Coordinate Attention is introduced to the model so that the model can focus on both the channel information and spatial location information of sound events. Experiments were conducted on two different datasets, TAU-NIGENS Spatial Sound Events 2020, and TAU-NIGENS Spatial Sound Events 2021. The results demonstrate that the proposed model significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods under multiple polyphonic and noise-directional interference environments and it achieves competitive performance under a single polyphonic environment. ©2024 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press. Modeling and Experimental Study of an Open Two-Phase Loop Driven by Osmotic Pressure and Capillary Force

As space technology advances,thermal control systems must effectively collect and dissipate heat from distributed,multi-source *** heat pipe is a highly reliable two-phase heat transfer component,but it has several limitations when addressing multi-source heat *** by the transport and heat dissipation system of plants,large trees achieve stable and efficient liquid supply under the influence of two driving forces:capillary force during transpiration in the leaves(pull)and root pressure generated by osmotic pressure in the roots(push).The root pressure provides an effective liquid supply with a driving force exceeding 2 MPa,far greater than the driving force in conventional capillary-pumped two-phase *** has shown that osmotic heat pipes offer a powerful driving force,and combining osmotic pressure with capillary force has significant ***,this paper designs a multi-evaporator,dual-drive two-phase loop,using both osmotic pressure and capillary force to solve the multi-source heat dissipation ***,a transmembrane water flux model for the osmotic pressure-driven device was established to predict the maximum heat transfer capacity of the dual-drive two-phase ***,an experimental setup for a multi-evaporator“osmotic pressure+capillary force”dual-drive two-phase loop was constructed,capable of transferring at least 235 W of power under a reverse gravity condition of 20 *** study also analyzed the effects of reverse gravity height,heat load distribution among the three evaporators,startup sequence,and varying branch resistances on the performance of the dual-drive two-phase loop.

A strategy for accurate prediction of dielectric permittivity and dielectric strength in polyimide

A strategy was proposed to predict accurately the dielectric permittivity and dielectric strength based on the Onsager local field *** molecular dynamic simulation was utilised to analyse the dipole moment fluctuation in polyimide(PI)to reflect the polar-isation response of applied electric *** simulation results revealed that the optical dielectric permittivity and static dielectric permittivity were 2.62 and 3.34,showing that the electronic displacement polarisation of the PI acted as a major *** deviation between simulated and measured values of the frequency-dependent relative dielectric permittivity was no more than 5%,which exhibited high *** the polarisation response of the polar groups in the PI was at infrared frequencies,the conductive loss may be the dominant role in 102–106 Hz at room ***,the effect of Joule heat on the structure,dielectric permittivity and Young modulus was considered to accurately predict the dielectric strength of the PI(359 kV/mm),which was in agreement with experimental values in the *** results establish a clear correlation between structural characteristics and dielectric properties of the PI,which would be the theoretical insights into the design and synthesis of the PI with tailored dielectric properties.
